Federal judge orders IRS to reveal identities of employees who targeted conservatives for audit

Amidst the flood of bad news is a piece of very good news.

In 2013, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), headed at the time by Lois Lerner, admitted it was applying extra scrutiny to conservative groups applying for nonprofit status. Lerner said:

“That was wrong. That was absolutely incorrect, it was insensitive and it was inappropriate. … The IRS would like to apologize for that.”

Lois Lerner

As usual, Congress was totally useless in their investigation and hearings, as NOTHING happened to Lerner (she had already resigned from the IRS) or the other IRS employees who engaged in the criminal harassment of conservatives, Christians, and Tea Party groups by singling them out for special scrutiny and audit.

It took a lone federal judge to do what Congress should have done.

Brooke Singman for Fox News, Aug. 21, 2017, that after years of litigation by conservative groups against the IRS’ targeting, Judge Reggie B. Walton of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia has ordered the IRS to:

  • Release the names of specific IRS employees involved in targeting Tea Party groups.
  • Provide information about which groups and individuals were targeted and why.
  • Provide assurance — a strategy — that such targeting doesn’t happen again.
  • Search for further related records in other agency databases for the time period spanning 2009 to March 27, 2015. Judge Walton gave the IRS until Oct. 16 to complete the search.

Chris Farrell, director of investigations and research at Judicial Watch whose organization is also involved in litigation with the IRS on this issue, told Fox News that the IRS owes litigants “real accountability”:

“This was creepy, chilling stuff. Judge Walton has accomplished more with one ruling than all of the rest of the federal government—all three branches—over the last six years. The IRS is one of the most feared government agencies, and they’ve gotten a pass, in part. Walton is looking for real accountability and that’s so important.”

True the Vote President Catherine Engelbrecht said:

“We’re thrilled the judge has taken this step and it feels good to have it recognized that they need to be held to account. What happened to me was very personal—my name was thrown around the IRS, and the names of the people involved need to be known. What they did was criminal.”

Engelbrecht also said that “the fight” under the Trump administration has been “every bit as difficult” as it was under the Obama administration:

“They are still entrenched on the idea that the IRS did nothing wrong and all of America now knows that is not the case. What we’re fighting for is we want to see a policy that prohibits viewpoint discrimination. Holding the IRS accountable and personalizing it is a great step forward to coax each one out of their den of thieves. We are fighting on behalf of all Americans, because if it could happen to us, it can happen to anyone.

A Justice Department spokesperson told Fox News:

“We are reviewing the order and will respond accordingly. We do not comment on pending litigation.”

  1. Lock up Lois Lerner. Remove Koskinen from office immediately and lock him up too. Then work down from there.

  4. So many crooks, so little time. I suppose, first we have to staunch the flow. That means rounding up Obongo and his cohort as well as Hillary and hers. Then we can “drill down” into this fetid mess. This is like mining in a cesspit in Hell.

These wicked creatures have had their way with us for many years. The longer it continues the more incongruous it appears. “Normal” people do not behave this way.

Demon spawn, I say. They need a serious exorcism.

    • Wow, LO!!! You said it with the language I could not come up with for a clean and decent post…..but you did it and let us feel and see the UNDERBELLY of the Obama admin. Anyone who has been on this post for a while knows that I was DINGED by the Lois Lerner IRS from the Cleveland office…..in a draconian and ridiculous/almost impossible for me MAIL audit that targeted a huge amount of tax-payers from my little corner of the world after we turned the Obama “unaccompanied minor” illegal alien buses away from our community. Not only THAT, but when we called the IRS for “instructions” on how to proceed with this audit, we were LECTURED by the IRS government employee on the other end about “PAYING OUR FAIR SHARE.” So how did this jackass low-level phone receptionist KNOW that we had or had NOT paid our “fair share????”

I have hopes that this Federal Judge will be the beginning of the end for this whole swamp of Obamanites who used this Federal department for political ends against ordinary American citizens whom they perceived were “their enemies.” Obama used the IRS to PUNISH people who stood against his policy of dumping huge amounts of overwhelmingly needy illegals in tiny communities across this country. He used the Justice Dept. to set up bogus gun-running to further his anti-second ammendment rights, he used “executive privilege” to protect himself and his AG from impeachment for being caught doing this…..But, in the end….no matter that we have Trump or not….I am not holding my breath that any of this will ever really end…or that anything this judge does will clarify anything, stop anything, or bring in a new age of morality in Washington, DC….water always seeks its own level. In Washington….that’s still down in the swamp…ever and always….

      • Wow, sorry for your trouble. There is no question that the Obamanoids were shameless. All that mattered to them was getting what they wanted at someone else’ expense.

  5. Excellent, if this makes it to trial, few jurors have a fond feeling for the IRS other than loons on the west coast, and Hollywood’s no so elite.

  8. I hope this leads to justice for the people. Obviously those leading the GOP and should have been monitoring have gotten very rich in DC and no longer have any fire in the belly for a fight. They got theirs, to heck with the rest of us.
Kudos to the judge. Let’s see if he stands firm.

  9. I receive daily news updates from Judicial Watch, and the level of corruption in our government is staggering and then some. I think we all knew this, but seeing it spelled out in front of you makes one wonder if it can ever be fixed, even improved. It’s every federal agency from A to Z, and probably every other agency you could think of. People embezzling hundreds of thousands of dollars from agencies that are supposed to be helping the poor. Millions of dollars of our taxes are going to places like Afghanistan, for intelligence officers to buy luxury cars, weapons, booze, and outrageous salaries for them and their spouses. It’s depressing to even read these accounts.

The IRS is foul, and they are just the tip of the iceberg.

    • Maryaha—I get Judicial Watch, too! IF everyone could get this publication (maybe for a buck at the grocery store check out…or the DMV….the 7/11, the pharmacy check out……..) I think Washington, D. C. would be more “on notice” and more exposed, forced to become more up front in motive….more honest…..and so on…..AND maybe, just maybe, in the absence of term limits (which, in the absence of a Constitutional Convention, our reps will NEVER vote for themselves/their terms) our elected Representatives and Senators just MIGHT be subject to the immediacy of their actions/votes……

    • “…intelligence officers to buy luxury cars, weapons, booze, and outrageous salaries for them and their spouses.” Uh huh, o yea!

I recall Good Ol’ Ollie North –that scum-sucking patriotic PoS– who carried on the same way. He even get a VISA account for his wife so she could get new tires for his family’s 4X4.

Never stops, just keeps on & on & on until it collapses from within, as it ALWAYS has in every empire. We’re next on Hegel’s slaughterbench of history.

The i.r.s. has never been any thing but the u.s. strong arm tentacle of the world bank crime cartel. congress is only one more gang of stooges getting rich as pawns of the world bank by ignoring their own Constitutional mandate to coin and print our own currency.

There are still just too many who do not grasp the fact that there is nothing ‘federal’ about the federal reserve, and the notion that the i.r.s. is answerable to our own government is just a facade.

  12. This should be seen as great news, and if it moves forward as it should, it will be–but, as has been pointed out, the corruption is so entrenched, and wide-spread by this time, I can only hope the judge in this case doesn’t suddenly ‘slip and fall’, or ‘die of natural causes’, or commit ‘suicide’ unexpectedly, if you know what I mean. [Where’s Elliot Ness when you need him?!] j/k

I can really sympathize a lot with those who’ve suffered at the hands of corrupt members of the IRS. Their suffering makes the little I’ve suffered from those hostile to anyone on the right really pale by comparison. Being a member of a military family, though, has managed to help me be on the receiving end of leftist ire on more than several occasions, once the wars got started after 911.

It’s not merely unpleasant, it has too often become so intimidating that it made me tell my husband never to leave me alone in a room with any strangers ever again–because, as soon as they see someone they perceive as ‘weaker’ than they are, they can become awfully nasty. It shocked me at first, since I never expected that type of hatefulness from some local nurses, and even govt. employees at the DMV–but, I bear the invisible scars to prove it. I wondered if I had a “Kick me” sign on my back that I didn’t realize was there–but, I think once it was seen that I was a military family member, it suddenly became ‘open season’ for those libs.

I was even tagged with the insulting moniker of “Cujo”, that I know I didn’t deserve. Some DMV employees gave me a tough time of it over my California birth certificate, laughing at it, then telling me it didn’t look “real”, so they said they might not issue me my state I.D. card–if it hadn’t been for a sympathetic supervisor, who told them to give me the I.D. card, I might still be unable to travel on public transportation. There are even more examples than those, as well. They seem to pick on someone like me, because they believe they can get away with it. So, I can completely sympathize with those who’ve been treated much worse than I have.

But, I’m so very tired of it all:
“Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus.”{Revelation 22:20]
    Amen! 🙂

It is time to fire the IRS commissioner, KOSKINEN, who committed treason for doing Obama’s dirty work against conservatives.
