Because it’s complicated: When asked their sex, some are going with option ‘X’

gender in between your ears

From USA Today: America has slowly begun to acknowledge that for many people, gender is much more complicated than simply being a man or a woman. And a growing number of Americans are seeking recognition of a third gender, neither exclusively male or female, under the label non-binary.

People typically think of transgender as meaning gender reversal, where someone identifies as the opposite sex from their birth sex. But transgender is an umbrella term used to cover a wide spectrum of people whose gender identity is different from the one they were assigned at birth.

More than one-third of transgender people describe themselves as non-binary, which the National Center for Transgender defines as “people whose gender is not exclusively male or female, including those who identify with a gender other than male or female, as more than one gender, or as no gender, identifying as a combination of genders or not identifying with either gender at all.”

Non-binary people have always been part of the population. But for the first time, state governments in the U.S. are beginning to recognize their identity. Oregon approved a third gender option on driver’s licenses last week; California’s Senate passed a law with the same aim, and similar legislation was introduced in both New York and the District of Columbia this week.

Non-binary people are now represented in popular culture as well. Actor Asia Kate Dillon, who is credited with being the “first non-binary actor ever to be portrayed on TV,” plays a gender non-binary character on the Showtime series Billions.

“Hello, I’m Taylor. My pronouns are they, theirs and them,” Dillon’s Billions character declares when introduced to one of the show’s two protagonists. The scene likely also introduced the concept of non-binary people and non-gender specific pronouns to many viewers.

Why the gender on IDs matters

The issue of gender on official documentation is not merely a semantic one. Nearly one-third of transgender people said they were harassed, assaulted or denied service because their ID did not match their “gender presentation,” according to the 2015 U.S. Transgender Survey from the National Center for Transgender Equality.

Presenting an identification document that does not accurately reflect one’s sex and is inconsistent with one’s gender identity can trigger invasions of privacy, prejudice, stigma, violence and discrimination and harassment in a wide variety of settings, including in employment, education, public accommodations, health care, housing and interactions with the government, including with law enforcement,” the LGBT civil rights group Lambda Legal wrote to the Oregon Department of Transportation arguing for the rule change to allow a third gender option.

Oregon became the first state to give residents the option to identify as neither male or female on their driver’s licenses and state identification cards Thursday after a ruling by the Oregon Transportation Commission. Beginning July 1, those IDs will offer an “X” as a third option in addition to the traditional “F” and “M.”

A bill passed the California Senate to allow the state’s residents to change their gender identity on their birth certificates and state IDs, including driver’s licenses, to “female, male, or non-binary.” The bill is currently awaiting a vote in the state Assembly. Similar legislation has been introduced in New York and the District of Columbia.

Randy Thomasson, the president of SaveCalifornia.com and the Campaign for Children and Families, has derided what he sees as the spread of “sexual anarchy.”

Thomasson argued against the legislation in California on the grounds that allowing people to change gender invites identity fraud.

“If one’s sex can be officially ‘changed’ by simply — even repeatedly — filing an $11 form with the state government, it’s going to be a lot harder to accurately identify ‘non-binary’ accused criminals in open court,” Thomasson said in a statement. “The gender identity fraud that this radical bill would usher in is the antithesis of law and order.”

According to Lambda Legal, there are at least eight countries that recognize more than two genders on passports or national ID cards: Australia, Bangladesh, Germany, India, Malta, Nepal, New Zealand and Pakistan. Thailand recognizes a third gender in its constitution but hasn’t yet made that an option on government documents.

  2. The truth no longer matters; What matters is “the narrative.” Thus truth and metaphysics give way to ideology. And what is happening here is that we are being led on the road to solipsism, whereby each individual can believe he has his own “reality,” while the larger mob goes about its crimes against Nature unchallenged.
    Nihilism to solipsism is much aligned; We have traded Moral Man for Sociological Man, and the journey ends in Scatological Man: In the end, a man becomes nothing but putrefaction and filth! Human nature becomes permanently debased and man is no longer made in the Image of God! Thus Nietzsche has won his argument: “I beg you, my brothers, remain faithful to the Earth!” and man remains on Earth, after the General Judgment, after Christ Himself sets it ablaze with His Holy Wrath!

    Listen once again to Abbott & Costello’s “Who’s on First?” If we listen closely to it, we understand it is NOT “comedy”: It is a verbal sleight-of-hand whereby one handily changes the terms of the argument by the antagonist, over and against the protagonist, in order to reduce the protagonist into a state of imbecility. The “Who’s on First?” routine is not comedy at all; Rather, it is the logical positivism of Bertrand Russell, one of the most wicked and debased pseudo-intellectual criminals who ever lived.

    The intellectual roots of the controlling “narrative” do not originate in Christianity. They do not originate in Mohammadism: Islam is but a reaction of the Prophet released upon a reacting and reduced population (murder cult that it is). No, the intellectual roots of this mental—and physical—debasement come from the Talmud and the Zohar, and NOT the Old Testament. We are under attack by a political ideology masquerading as a religion, and even most adherents to this ideology do not understand this, do not recognize it, cannot see it. We need to be red-pilled.

  4. broken families from single-parents, drug addicted households, nuclear families denied the right to exist by CPS stealing children from Christian households with govt-sponsored mandates and bonuses so homosexuals and other deviants can “parent” children, children denied the right to know Christ, govt/public schools are becoming the new “parent”, pharmaceuticals given to children to change their brain chemistry, suicide among the young at an all-time high;
    people seeking attention;
    people unhappy in their lives;
    people allowing propaganda (lies) through media/govt/society to lead them; lost moral compasses;
    toxic minds, bodies, and souls…every soul screams:
    “Jesus, we need you!”…some hear whispers, yet others are deaf to the psalm of Truth.
    We need Him and without Him, “peace” becomes the fallacy of a social construct temporarily alleviated by the god of: sex, drugs, surgery, PC world, deceit, lies….

    people who hate us are followers of satan are running this world and they have caused the world to medicate itself into a spiritual oblivion while holding on to denial, deceit, and lies as literal “life preservers”…life becomes hell on earth.
    Jesus is the only way.
    “And we know that the Son of God has come, and he has given us understanding so that we can know the true God. And now we live in fellowship with the true God because we live in fellowship with his Son, Jesus Christ. He is the only true God, and he is eternal life.” 1John 5:20
    and
    “There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (JESUS).” Acts 4:12

    • MomOfIV . . . that was a thorough expose of what is wrong in our day and age . . . and a beautiful recitation of what needs to happen in order to fix this problem . . . and that is belief in Our Lord Jesus Christ, the Savior of the World. If we will follow his commandments, we will indeed to saved in the mansions on high that he has prepared for us.

    Only a truly corrupted and perverse mind could conceive of a delineation of contradiction between sex and gender. It has always been my under standing that one must use the term ‘gender’ to avoid confusing discussion of sex with the act of sex.

  10. For those who are confused let me help you out. This is very simple.

    Take the following steps.

    A. Undress
    B. Stand with you feet, shoulder width.
    C. Look down between your legs
    D. Answer the following question.
    Do you see a little winkie?

    If yes, you are a male.

    If no, you are either a VERY under privileged male or you are a female.

    There are no other options.

    Have a nice day.

  13. Just because a few people want something so much they are willing to change the rule of God, does not make it right. They want company and confirmation that what they are doing is the right thing to do, but know deep inside it is wrong.

    • What do they say? “It”? “Why officer, you can’t touch me. I’m a left-handed, herniated, Hopi Indian”. That’s right, sir.”

      • If it is that complicated, I volunteer to help them determine their sexual identity. Like they told me at Basic Training, drop your pants and spread your cheeks. I figure from that angle, it should not be hard to figure out.

  15. Just for the record, my only real ID, my driver’s license, (with stats from when I was 16) states that I weigh 110 lbs. and have “brown” hair (never really accurate to begin with….dark auburn, but you know…DMV is straight up one way or another, no nuances) and blue eyes. The only thing TRUE today is the eye color. No one gives me a hard time about the vast discrepancy in the weight and hair color. HA HA….But I DID recently have a refinance company (for my house) get all out of sorts b/c I use my maiden name in banking & my professional life as my “middle name” but my “official gov’t records” use my given middle name as my middle name. Sigh…..so, you gender chameleons….I know JUST how you feel when people challenge WHO YOU REALLY ARE (I admit to a little sarc here…..).
