‘Napolitano is not worthy of the public’s trust’: Democrat lawmaker calls on UC president to resign

From Sacramento Bee: Prompted by a massive state audit that found misleading budgeting practices and extravagant spending in the University of California’s central administration, one lawmaker is demanding the resignation of UC President Janet Napolitano.

“The leaders of our state university systems are duty-bound to maintain the highest levels of transparency, integrity, and accountability to California taxpayers, students, their families, and the Legislature, especially when it comes to public monies,” Assemblywoman Sharon Quirk-Silva said in a statement Tuesday. “President Napolitano no longer engenders the public trust required to perform her duties. It’s time she resigned.”

Released two weeks ago, the audit slammed UC’s Office of the President for systematically overcharging campuses to fund its operations, spending excessively on employee compensation and secretly stashing $175 million for presidential initiative, even as the university’s governing board recently voted to raise tuition for the first time in six years.

Quirk-Silva, who is carrying legislation to freeze student fees at California Student University and community colleges, said UC’s spending priorities show “President Napolitano is not worthy of the public’s trust.”

“She’s not the person to lead the university system,” Quirk-Silva said.

  2. I NEVER liked her. Clinton insider through and through, not very qualified intellectually IMHO… a sock puppet for the leftist agenda. Ugly, nasty, non-compromising at best. Make her work a real job. Prove her value to society at large and not just to the Soros crowd.

  6. Most of us could have told ya that she was not to be entrusted with overseeing anything . . . except perhaps dog poo cleanup! I hope the old bat is handed her walking papers. What an outrage that a secret stash of $175 million has been put by as a slush fund for her use . . . all the while hitting up students for higher tuition. I suppose she and her cronies got fat paychecks under her tutelage. Kick her to the curb! Bravo to the Dem who outed her for such outrageous actions on her part!

  7. If Napolitano does resign or get booted, let’s hope she doesn’t try to go back into mainstream politics. During her reign as Secretary of Homeland Security, she brought in a barrage of muslims and placed them in high level positions compromising the agency, public safety and the security of the US.

Will UC students protest against Napolitano? I’m not holding my breath….

    • And that is a major tragedy . . . that these students are so immune to the dishonesty, and hypocrisy of Napolitano and her ilk, that they may well not see anything wrong with these actions.

      • True, and unless these snowflakes suddenly start reading conservative sites, they most likely will never find out. I guess we could send them some tweets that she is really a closet conservative. Should speed up the action.

  9. Funny how the Democrats perennially pose as the champions of the financially-strapped college student, yet just as reliably enjoy such things as university slush funds, and exorbitant speaking fees as H. Clinton often did – both of which are sins against the public in general and the students in particular. This couldn’t happen without a dysfunctional school system and a compliant press that has no real interest in telling the truth.

  10. Over $1 Billion missing from the State Department after Hillary’s reign of terror: . The $175 Million stash at UC is far less and an open secret for months. Big Sis will not be resigining or affected in any way…

    • Not sure, but I think it number is actually 6 billion missing. Under BO we have half the stimulus money missing. And then we have to consider all the billions we gave all those green companies and got zilch for it. They all failed. Solyndra was going under, pretty quick and BO still gave them another 35 million. Kick backs anyone?
There really needs to be a full forensic audit done of everything in connection of the last eight years.

  14. she was never “worthy” of the position in the first place, not even qualified…she got the position because of obama and is copying his tactics for hiding money as well…obama, and everyone associated with him, should be in prison.

  15. I think she has never held an honest position in her career and I would venture to say she profited nicely from them all.
Slush funds, it is what the dems do. They have gotten by with it for so long they figured why not again.

  16. No surprise here! I lived in AZ when she was a dishonest and lousy governor. I laughed when she went to D.C. because I knew she would be a dismal failure. When the university hired her I couldn’t believe it! “What the heck were they thinking?!”, I asked. I knew it was only a matter of time before they canned her! Ta Da!
I love it when I’m right! Lol. Napolitano has made alot of money doing alot of damage. She belongs washing dishes in an all night roadside diner. No more, no less.

  17. Janet Napolitano (criminal at heart that she is) can carry on like this because she knows that Uncle Sam will always bail her organization out. So we’re in a state of deadlock: She may stay or she may go, but the grift shall continue.
Ditto every department of life, from medicine and education on down….
