Target CEO admits tranny restroom policy is a mistake

A year ago, Target alienated many of its customers with a new policy that “transgender” customers and employees are welcome to use whichever bathroom suits them.

The policy led to a nationwide boycott, which resulted in a precipitous drop of the company’s stock value.

Instead of changing its misguided policy, Target headquarters only doubled down. Now, Target’s CEO Brain Cornell admits he regrets the tranny bathroom policy, but lamely claims that he didn’t make nor was he even informed of the policy decision, which stretches credulity.

AFA reports, April 6, 2017:

A very damaging article just out from the Wall Street Journal clearly shows that Target CEO Brian Cornell regrets his company’s policy announcement welcoming men to use women’s restrooms and dressing rooms.

According to the article, Mr. Cornell expressed frustration about how the bathroom policy was publicized without his permission or knowledge, and told colleagues he wouldn’t have approved the decision to flaunt it with a public statement that is still on Target’s website today.

“Target didn’t adequately assess the risk, and the ensuing backlash [AFA boycott] was self-inflicted,” he told staff.

The WSJ article explained that Target headquarters sent an internal memo to store managers reiterating its official stance on men using women’s facilities. On April 15, 2016, a group Target calls its “risk committee” emailed executives informing them of a plan to post that message publicly. Mr. Cornell wasn’t among the recipients of that email.

At least two of Mr. Cornell’s lieutenants approved the post, including Target’s chief risk officer, Jackie Rice, and its chief external-engagement officer, Laysha Ward.

AFA agrees with Mary McCandless, a shopper in Winston-Salem, N.C. who told the WSJ, “Target picked a side and pretty much said to the rest of us that we don’t matter.” The 56-year-old financial analyst said she quit using her Target credit card and shifted most shopping online. “At least I don’t have to worry about using the bathroom on Amazon.com.”

Inside the company, executives predicted the backlash would die down. It didn’t, and foot traffic inside stores declined significantly in the months following AFA’s boycott announcement.

Since the boycott started, Target’s stock has lost 35% of its value, and shuttered plans for major expansion projects.

You can read the entire WSJ article here, but be aware that it requires a subscription. Copyright laws prohibit AFA from providing the entire article to you.

AFA has a boycott petition that needs another 500,000 signers to reach the goal of 1.5 million by the end of this month. AFA asks that:

  • If you haven’t signed the boycott pledge, please sign it today.
  • If you have signed the pledge, please forward this email to your family and friends.
  • Most important: Share this information with your Sunday School class and encourage them to sign the pledge at www.afa.net/target.

  1. I can honestly say I have only purchased one item in a Target store and that was almost 20 years ago.

I can promise you that I will never purchase anything again, regardless of the circumstance.

I wouldn’t pee in their mouth if their head was on fire.

    • Here in my small town in OK someone told me they saw a man in the women’s restroom at Target. She complained to the manager who said he/she (?) is suppose to be using the unisex restroom. Needless to say, I won’t be visiting Target either.

  2. The first boycott I’ve participated in that has had a lasting effect!

Screw you, Target. “Regrets” and “repents” are two different things. Regret alone doesn’t cut it.

  4. No sympathy whatsoever. May the Cultural Marxists suffer the $$$-consequences of their stupidity.

Obviously CEO Cornell has no control over his corporation. If he has not done some major butt-kicking/firing, then he’s a total wuss.

IF what he says is true, his staff obviously left him out of the internal memo on purpose. For that they should be hung out to dry on someone else’s dime.

His two lieutenants (?? corporations are like military now ??), Jackie Rice & Laysha Ward, sound like Black names. Maybe they are trannies, too.

Target, Your Target BACKFIRED. Boohoo for you. No great loss for me since I never shop in your store anyway.

  6. Why is Cornell still at the helm at Target? A fool can do more damage in one hour than a wise man can correct in seven years!

  7. I think it is tremendous that enough people responded to the “boycott Target” movement that their value has dropped by 35%. I would say this is certainly a win for the children of God, or those who just want their wives and children to be safe when using a restroom.

    • Auntie Lulu, I agree. And this is also a test: You said it: People just want to be safe. This is a test of who will stand up for who. Of who will stand up for what’s right. A test of the failure of political ideology in business.
There will be many more tests to come. THE BIG PICTURE: The TRIBULATION is coming. We have to be prepared. You and I and many others may not be here to see it—but others alive now will be.
Jesus Christ is in the preliminary stages of separating the wheat from the chaff here. He sees the Big Picture. He IS the Big Picture. The outcome to this War has already been decided!

  8. Why is it too late to fix this? All he has to do is go public and tell the World that he’s had a serious “wake-up-call” and is changing the policy to a more Religiously Responsible format, and that the LGBTWXYZ will have to settle for having NORMAL human rights, like EVERYONE else has.

  12. So, this idiot claims it was a bad move, but that he knew nothing about It? Yeah right. What rock has he been under and why is he still the CEO?
From his pic, I have to wonder about what side he bats for and what in the heck motivated such a asinine decision in the first place.
Less than 1% decides the safety for the rest. How did they plan to vet which one of these men are genuine and which ones are deviates?

  15. I won’t even go into a target parking lot. Same for Penney’s (ellen degenerate) or Sonic (two queers in their advertising campaign). I vote with my dollars anytime I can because that is all some people understand. And even then it might not change their thinking. Only their actions. Even then, once the decision has been made to accept deviance, as a warning to others, these will remain permanent boycotts. It may not run them out of business but it may cause them to rethink such decisions in the future.
