The (second) American Civil War is already here

Do you, like I, have the sense that although Clinton lost and Trump won the election, things are even worse than before?

Daniel Greenfield, an expert on radical Islam and a Shillman Journalism Fellow at the Freedom Center, has written a stunning and searingly truthful article that explains why things are even worse today.

That’s because the Left, having lost the election, are now in open rebellion against nothing less than our system of government. We are in a second American civil war — a war that stems from irreconcilable differences between conservatives and the Left who have formed a treasonous anti-government.

Nor can our differences be resolved by secession, because the Left do not want to secede. They want total control.

Below is Greenfield’s article in its entirety. I cannot recommend it more highly.

The Civil War Is Here

The left doesn’t want to secede. It wants to rule.

Daniel Greenfield • March 27, 2017 • Frontpage Mag

A civil war has begun.

This civil war is very different than the last one. There are no cannons or cavalry charges. The left doesn’t want to secede. It wants to rule. Political conflicts become civil wars when one side refuses to accept the existing authority. The left has rejected all forms of authority that it doesn’t control.

The left has rejected the outcome of the last two presidential elections won by Republicans. It has rejected the judicial authority of the Supreme Court when its decisions don’t accord with its agenda. It rejects the legislative authority of Congress when it is not dominated by the left.

It rejected the Constitution so long ago that it hardly bears mentioning.

It was for total unilateral executive authority under Obama. And now it’s for states unilaterally deciding what laws they will follow. (As long as that involves defying immigration laws under Trump, not following them under Obama.) It was for the sacrosanct authority of the Senate when it held the majority. Then it decried the Senate as an outmoded institution when the Republicans took it over.

It was for Obama defying the orders of Federal judges, no matter how well grounded in existing law, and it is for Federal judges overriding any order by Trump on any grounds whatsoever. It was for Obama penalizing whistleblowers, but now undermining the government from within has become “patriotic”.

There is no form of legal authority that the left accepts as a permanent institution. It only utilizes forms of authority selectively when it controls them. But when government officials refuse the orders of the duly elected government because their allegiance is to an ideology whose agenda is in conflict with the President and Congress, that’s not activism, protest, politics or civil disobedience; it’s treason.

After losing Congress, the left consolidated its authority in the White House. After losing the White House, the left shifted its center of authority to Federal judges and unelected government officials. Each defeat led the radicalized Democrats to relocate from more democratic to less democratic institutions.

This isn’t just hypocrisy. That’s a common political sin. Hypocrites maneuver within the system. The left has no allegiance to the system. It accepts no laws other than those dictated by its ideology.

Democrats have become radicalized by the left. This doesn’t just mean that they pursue all sorts of bad policies. It means that their first and foremost allegiance is to an ideology, not the Constitution, not our country or our system of government. All of those are only to be used as vehicles for their ideology.

That’s why compromise has become impossible.

Our system of government was designed to allow different groups to negotiate their differences. But those differences were supposed to be based around finding shared interests. The most profound of these shared interests was that of a common country based around certain civilizational values. The left has replaced these Founding ideas with radically different notions and principles. It has rejected the primary importance of the country. As a result it shares little in the way of interests or values.

Instead it has retreated to cultural urban and suburban enclaves where it has centralized tremendous amounts of power while disregarding the interests and values of most of the country. If it considers them at all, it is convinced that they will shortly disappear to be replaced by compliant immigrants and college indoctrinated leftists who will form a permanent demographic majority for its agenda.

But it couldn’t wait that long because it is animated by the conviction that enforcing its ideas is urgent and inevitable. And so it turned what had been a hidden transition into an open break.

In the hidden transition, its authority figures had hijacked the law and every political office they held to pursue their ideological agenda. The left had used its vast cultural power to manufacture a consensus that was slowly transitioning the country from American values to its values and agendas. The right had proven largely impotent in the face of a program which corrupted and subverted from within.

The left was enormously successful in this regard. It was so successful that it lost all sense of proportion and decided to be open about its views and to launch a political power struggle after losing an election.

The Democrats were no longer being slowly injected with leftist ideology. Instead the left openly took over and demanded allegiance to open borders, identity politics and environmental fanaticism. The exodus of voters wiped out the Democrats across much of what the left deemed flyover country.

The left responded to democratic defeats by retreating deeper into undemocratic institutions, whether it was the bureaucracy or the corporate media, while doubling down on its political radicalism. It is now openly defying the outcome of a national election using a coalition of bureaucrats, corporations, unelected officials, celebrities and reporters that are based out of its cultural and political enclaves.

It has responded to a lost election by constructing sanctuary cities and states thereby turning a cultural and ideological secession into a legal secession. But while secessionists want to be left alone authoritarians want everyone to follow their laws. The left is an authoritarian movement that wants total compliance with its dictates with severe punishments for those who disobey.

The left describes its actions as principled. But more accurately they are ideological. Officials at various levels of government have rejected the authority of the President of the United States, of Congress and of the Constitution because those are at odds with their radical ideology. Judges have cloaked this rejection in law. Mayors and governors are not even pretending that their actions are lawful.

The choices of this civil war are painfully clear.

We can have a system of government based around the Constitution with democratically elected representatives. Or we can have one based on the ideological principles of the left in which all laws and processes, including elections and the Constitution, are fig leaves for enforcing social justice.

But we cannot have both.

Some civil wars happen when a political conflict can’t be resolved at the political level. The really bad ones happen when an irresolvable political conflict combines with an irresolvable cultural conflict.

That is what we have now.

The left has made it clear that it will not accept the lawful authority of our system of government. It will not accept the outcome of elections. It will not accept these things because they are at odds with its ideology and because they represent the will of large portions of the country whom they despise.

The question is what comes next.

The last time around growing tensions began to explode in violent confrontations between extremists on both sides. These extremists were lauded by moderates who mainstreamed their views. The first Republican president was elected and rejected. The political tensions led to conflict and then civil war.

The left doesn’t believe in secession. It’s an authoritarian political movement that has lost democratic authority. There is now a political power struggle underway between the democratically elected officials and the undemocratic machinery of government aided by a handful of judges and local elected officials.

What this really means is that there are two competing governments; the legal government and a treasonous anti-government of the left. If this political conflict progresses, agencies and individuals at every level of government will be asked to demonstrate their allegiance to these two competing governments. And that can swiftly and explosively transform into an actual civil war.

There is no sign that the left understands or is troubled by the implications of the conflict it has initiated. And there are few signs that Democrats properly understand the dangerous road that the radical left is drawing them toward. The left assumes that the winners of a democratic election will back down rather than stand on their authority. It is unprepared for the possibility that democracy won’t die in darkness.

Civil wars end when one side is forced to accept the authority of the other. The left expects everyone to accept its ideological authority. Conservatives expect the left to accept Constitutional authority. The conflict is still political and cultural. It’s being fought in the media and within the government. But if neither side backs down, then it will go beyond words as both sides give contradictory orders.

The left is a treasonous movement. The Democrats became a treasonous organization when they fell under the sway of a movement that rejects our system of government, its laws and its elections. Now their treason is coming to a head. They are engaged in a struggle for power against the government. That’s not protest. It’s not activism. The old treason of the sixties has come of age. A civil war has begun.

This is a primal conflict between a totalitarian system and a democratic system. Its outcome will determine whether we will be a free nation or a nation of slaves.

  3. I think we’re already a fascist-corporate nation, but it simply hasn’t been made official. A surface fiction representation of the 90% is maintained, but when push comes to shove that too will go.

    Good luck & good night!

  5. Stop calling these traitors “the left.” They’re communists, same type of
genocidal parasites that stripped Russia of its wealth after the 1917 “Revolution” and ultimately slaughtered around 100 million white
Christians in the Soviet Union with the blessings of the American
newspaper of record, the New York Times.

    • The American Left — among whom are very wealthy Democrat elites (like Soros, the Clintons & Nancy Pelosi), Hollywood and Silicon Valley moguls — are not communist because they would never do away with (their) private property ownership. Nor are they communist because all communist countries (USSR, Maoist China, North Korea) were/are puritanical in sexual mores, whereas the American Left are cultural hedonists and “Do As Thou Will” satanists.

Until we can come up with a better label, I call them the Left.

      • But, in any communist/dictatorial regime, the most wealthy who follow the prevailing party in power wouldn’t be subject to the same rules as average citizens. They get to keep their private properties. It’s how those in power and their “friends” become extremely wealthy and so very dangerous.

      • The first thing I noticed in the excellent article is that he did not use the word Communist. I do not agree that you can’t call them Communists. In fact if you look at all Communist countries the rules never applied to the ruling Communists. They all live quite lavishly by allowing exemptions to themselves, just like Obama allowed exemptions from Obama care to all his cronies. While all wealth was confiscated from the people of Russia, Lenin and his fellow Communists were eating off of gold plates and laughing -literally. While people starve in North Korea ” the leader” and his cronies live like kings. As far as sexual mores go, during and soon after the revolution things were extremely loose. It was only later they started to tighten the grip of sexual mores. In Weimar Germany the Jews were pushing all manner of perversions along with Bolshevism. Had they succeeded in taking over in Germany at that time, you can be certain it all would have changed once they were firmly in power. I think one might be able to expect the same here too. After once all the useful idiots have participated in defiling and deconstructing the existent culture, things swing in the opposite direction because Communists want control over everything, including reproduction. If they have their way, we will eventually see people having to get a license in order to have a child, and test tube babies made by the state and for the state. Communism has been nothing but a giant hoax created and perpetrated by Jews to confiscate all the worlds wealth and resources for themselves. Once they have all the wealth in their hands they certainly will not disavow the pleasure that come from owning it all….

“The Jewish people as a whole will become its own Messiah. It will attain world domination by the dissolution of other races, by the abolition of frontiers, the annihilation of monarchy and by the establishment of a world republic in which the Jews will everywhere exercise the privilege of citizenship.
In this New World Order, the children of Israel will furnish all the leaders without encountering opposition. The Governments of the different peoples forming the world republic will fall without difficulty into the hands of the Jews. It will then be possible for the Jewish rulers to abolish private property and everywhere to make use of the resources of the state.

Thus will the promise of the Talmud be fulfilled, in which it is said that when the Messianic time is come, the Jews will have all the property of the whole world in their hands.”

      • Dr. Eowyn, I am doing this from memory, so bear with me. I seem to remember that the premise of Communism is that of a proletariat and a bourgeois. The bourgeois being the rich, ruling class which had not only the wealth, but also the right to live at the top of the pile, until the proletariat became strong enough to rise up and over throw the elites, and thus fulfill the promise of pure Communism. This is from the late 70’s high school of my youth, so I am sure that it is not all correct. And while I agree that the term Left is pretty much the best, the terms liberal and socialist could also apply. But I have thought that we have begun a second civil war for some time now, since before the election. An election that I predicted Trump would win, by the way, because I didn’t rely on polls, but on the discontent that I felt and saw from every day people. And I disagree that this civil war is going to be different than the first one. Many people who have up until now remained silent, and allowed the left and the politicians to continue to drag the nation down into the cesspool that the rest of the world swims in, are no longer going to remain silent and patient. The harder that the left fights reforms that are aimed to bring America back towards her roots, and toward God, the greater the animosity is building up on the other side. No, I think that there will be an event that will cause outrage among the conservative right, and they will fight back. Perhaps some kind of protest that the left stages that gains national attention, and results in the death of a high number of innocents. We are sitting on a powder keg. It will only take the spark of insanity to ignite it, and the left has no shortage of the insane.

You are so right! Indeed, the revolution predicted by Karl Marx is supposed to happen in an advanced capitalist economy wherein machines have taken over jobs, driving the industrial workers (proletariat) to desperation so that their only option is to undertake a violent revolution to overthrow the capitalist ruling class (bourgeoisie). The virtuous proletariat will then undertake SOCIALISM — a brief and necessary period when the proletariat, under the guidance of the “vanguard” communist party, form a dictatorship (thus, “dictatorship of the proletariat”), whose sole mission is to do what needs to be done (abolish private property ownership) so as to immediately transform society for the last, shining stage of humans’ economic/political evolution — that of COMMUNISM, an utopia where:

          (1) Having abolished private property ownership (and along with it, the capital-owning bourgeoisie), everyone will share in the economic goods: “To each according to his needs, from each according to his abilities”.
          (2) Machines having taken over production, work is no longer a necessity under communism’s “to each according to his needs”. Instead, one “works” if one wants to, not to earn a living but as a means of self-fulfillment.
          (3) The dictatorship of the proletariat will give way to a genuine democracy, i.e., true anarchism, wherein everyone rules, and so “government” as humankind had always known it — the dictatorial and self-interested rule by a ruling class — will “wither away”.

Of course, what actually happened is completely different from Marx’s dicta:

          (1) None of the countries that had a Marxist revolution actually was as Marx had described. Not one. None of them was an advanced industrial economy. Instead, whatever bourgeoisie they had was only budding. Nor was a Marxist revolution anywhere undertaken by the proletariat, e.g., the Chinese revolution was by peasants, led by the communist party of course.

          (2) None of the countries that had a “Marxist” revolution ever installed a dictatorship of the proletariat. Instead, they had a dictatorship of the communist party, who abused and killed the proletariat along with millions of others.

          (3) None of the countries that had a “Marxist” revolution ever transitioned to the communism as described by Marx. Instead of a true democracy (anarchism), they all had/have the most tyrannical and murderous government known in human history.

Despite all this, western Marxists still hanker and foment a Marxist “working class” revolution, which goes to show that for the Left, facts don’t matter, which makes them insane, by the clinical definition of the word.

  7. When I saw the violence on Huntington Beach the other day, it became clear to me that this could spill over its boundaries in a flash. There’s a proverb that says, “Starting a quarrel is like breaching a dam; so drop the matter before a dispute breaks out.” – Proverbs 17:14

We need to be ready and willing to fight. This is absolutely the same spirit of genocide that killed hundreds of millions in the 20th century. But I would add that we must be wise, and prayerfully avoid needless arguments. The next statement is only my opinion. I believe the American Civil War was a complete waste of lives because the South was increasingly wrestling with ways to end slavery without total economic upheaval. But both sides were spoiling for a fight, and a few small flash points set our nation on fire. Once that started, it didn’t stop until countless honorable men on both sides were dead, never to come home to wives, parents or children.

  11. While I agree with the article’s premise that the “left” has abandoned every principle on which The Republic was founded, the notion of this being a Civil War is false. The first conflict, which led to War Between the States was justifiable resistance by Southern patriots against Northern aggression, just follow the money. President Trump, and the many States must continue to enforce law and order. Those who seek to undermine our Constitutional rights must face justice. Prosecution and sentencing a handful of the elite seditionists will prevent another murderous conflict.

  12. Civil war requires contending factions with relatively clearly defined geographical bases. I don’t see where this condition exists in the ideological conflict in the US. In reality, all Americans can do is get angry with each other and have interminable, inconclusive disputes–happily observed, no doubt, by the financial powers that have perfected the strategy of “divide and rule”.

    • Bob, I have to disagree with your premise about clearly defined geographical bases. Take the Bosnian civil war for an example. This was a religious civil war with multiple blended geographic boundaries.

In Bosnia, three nationalities lived before the latest conflict in inextricably mixed communities: the Muslims with 44 per cent of the population, the Serbs with 32 per cent and the Croats with 17 per cent. The communities lived in relative harmony. After the European Community demanded a referendum on independence in Bosnia in February, the vote split on ethnic lines. Muslims and Croats supported independence but the Serbs boycotted the vote and, again with the army’s support, began a fight for territory.
