Some of New York’s wealthiest tell state government to raise their taxes

Always plotting…

  • There’s not one reason why these libtards can’t just cut a check to the government. If they are “willing” to give more money to the government, write a check NOW.
  • They claim this tax will raise $2 billion. Soros has a net worth of $25.2 billion. He could fork over the $2 billion NOW and still be wealthy beyond anyone’s wildest dreams.

From NY Daily News: Some of the wealthiest New Yorkers are asking the state to raise their taxes.

Eighty people including George Soros, Steven Rockefeller and Abigail Disney wrote to lawmakers and Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo saying they and other top earners should pay more to support schools, roads, bridges and programs to help poor and homeless residents of the state.

“Now is the time to invest in the long-term economic viability of New York,” the letter reads. “We need to invest in pathways out of poverty and up the economic ladder for all of our fellow citizens, including strong public education from pre-K to college. And, we need to invest in the fragile bridges, tunnels, waterlines, public buildings, and roads that we all depend on.”

The letter, a copy of which was obtained by the Associated Press, endorses a plan that would create new, higher income tax brackets for top earners to raise a projected $2 billion.

Many of those signing the letter are millionaires and all make more than $650,000, making them members of the state’s top 1 percent when it comes to income.

The proposal is being pushed by the Fiscal Policy Institute, a liberal-leaning economic think tank. Ron Deutsch, the Fiscal Policy Institute’s executive director, said it was “refreshing” that so many of the state’s richest residents are willing to contribute more.

Their proposal faces significant political obstacles in the state Legislature. While the Democratic majority in the Assembly has its own plan to increase taxes on millionaires, the Republican-led Senate opposes the idea. Lawmakers are now negotiating the details of the state budget and hope to have a deal in place by April 1.

“They support higher taxes on themselves so the state can fund our glaring human and physical infrastructure needs and have adequate revenue in place to handle pending federal cuts,” he said.

A similar letter last year was largely ignored by lawmakers.

  1. And here’s the trick. They aren’t simply donating the money they desire to give to the government. They are trying to make the taxes rise on the wealthy. And guess who would be blamed for rising taxes. That’s right, the Trump administration.

Exactly. But they never do the simplest, most logical thing. Why’s dat?

    • Dr Eowyn . . . the reason they don’t just quietly cut a check for 2 billion or 5 billion, or even more is that they would not get this great PR circus show out of the donation. They also want to be able to state where and when the money gets spent. Myself I would prefer these monies be put against our staggering national debt. Trump has already brought down the national debt some what, but we have a long way to go, before this monkey will be off our backs.

      • I remember being told in high school long ago that donations to pay the national debt would not be accepted. There was no explanation given, and it took many years before I figured it out. Those who hold the loan want us indebted to them. They are the same people who print our money and control our economy. Every single dollar of the vast wealth each of us has (sarc.,) was loaned to us. If our own government followed our Constitution in this matter, there would be no such loan or usury.

All of these creatures can easily afford higher taxes because they all have the means to pass on this cost to others. They are sending the subliminal message that higher taxes are everyone’s civic duty. It’s a setup.

  6. Dematards! If you give it to the gov’t about 5 cents of every dollar will filter down. How did these people get so wealthy being so stupid?

    • By using Government regulations and taxation to outright KILL their competition, and filling the vacuum after their departure. Make no mistake, this is a proven method to con the population into killing their remaining competitors.

  7. These idiots sound like people that didn’t actually work for their money. They have no concept to how valuable and appreciative people are when they earn that paycheck.
These are usually the same people that do less for their communities.

  8. Not all people of that class are alike, some appreciate the blessings with which they were born or later given, and others seek even more wealth and power with no respect for those beneath them. Unfortunately, many more of them seek political office than those with a “noblesse oblige” character. Those conditions apply to all levels of society, to every race, and from every background to one degree or another. I prefer a western culture with Judeo-Christian values.

Charity is most noble, loved by God. But not when it is used as bait.

  10. Question; Does obscenely massive wealth cause stupidity, or is it acquired at birth?
