Schwarzenegger quits ‘Celebrity Apprentice,’ cites ‘baggage’

Trump is the obvious scapegoat for anything or anyone these days…

I watched a couple episodes of this show. It wasn’t that bad. But the finale was the LAMEST thing ever – NOTHING compared to when Trump did live finales. It just didn’t have the same wow factor, in my opinion.

From Yahoo: Arnold Schwarzenegger is terminating himself. The action star says he’s quitting NBC’s The New Celebrity Apprentice, which suffered low ratings during his tenure this year.

In a statement obtained by EW, the actor said, “I loved every second of working with NBC and Mark Burnett. Everyone — from the celebrities to the crew to the marketing department — was a straight 10, and I would absolutely work with all of them again on a show that doesn’t have this baggage.”

While the former California governor did not specify which “baggage” he’s referring to, one assumes it as something to do with the reality show’s former host, President Donald Trump. The president berated Schwarzenegger repeatedly for delivering low ratings, and some viewers pledged to boycott the show due to Trump’s executive producer credit. There was also a recent unconfirmed report that advertisers ditched the show due to the credit as well.

NBC insiders say that they have not yet made a decision on whether to bring back Celebrity Apprentice — with or without Schwarzenegger. It seems unlikely the broadcaster would have renewed the show without any changes given its ratings woes (the show averaged about 4 million viewers per week and its finale placed last in its time slot). Plus there was the controversy over Trump’s producer credit (as somebody who helped launch the show, NBC is contractually obligated to keep his name on it).

So Schwarzenegger could be making a preemptive move here — you can’t get dumped by somebody if you break up with them first. (Or, perhaps a more appropriate metaphor, you can’t get fired from a job if tell your bosses to shove it).

The Trump vs. Schwarzenegger most famously came to a head during the National Prayer Breakfast last month, when the president said, “When I ran for president I knew I had to leave the show, that’s when I knew for sure I was doing it. And they hired a big, big movie star Arnold Schwarzenegger to take my place, and we know how that turned out. Ratings went right down the tubes, it’s been a total disaster, and Mark will never, ever bet against Trump again. And I want to just pray for Arnold if we can, for those ratings. But we’ve had an amazing life together — the last 14, 15 years. An outstanding man. Thank you for introducing me.”

To which Schwarzenegger shot back on Twitter: “Hey Donald, I have an idea. Why don’t we switch jobs? Since you’re such an expert in ratings, then people can finally sleep comfortably again.”

  2. I thought by ‘baggage’ he meant his face. Schwarzenneger must have done too many steroids, he doesn’t look so hot.

  4. I’ve read that Mr. Schwarzenegger has his own baggage. It’s a tale about England, Lord Lucan, murder for hire, and a very colorful man named Giovanni Di Stefano.
Of course, Mr. Schwarzenegger has had no comment.

schwarzenegger would never offer to trade jobs with Trump now, unless he also is falling for the newly (well for eight years now) redefined definition of “Natural Born Citizen”, which now any body qualifies if they can sneak their a** across our border.

Hey, Arnold. I have an idea. Why don’t you read Article II of the US Constitution about a necessary condition for being President is natural born citizenship?

    • LOL! Best comment, MeThePeople!

Schwarzenegger should be SchwarzeNAGGER, whining & nagging like an old lady. I bet his former “six pack” hangs like baggage under his clothes.

He probably quit the show first before it gets cancelled, so the bad ratings wouldn’t “stick” to him.

Agree, sad end to a great show. I loved The Apprentice when it first began, with George & Carolyn (Trump Organization execs) who sat on each side of Trump in the Boardroom. I thought Trump was an absolute hoot! (fun). HE made the show. If he wasn’t around it was not as much fun. Then George & Carolyn were switched out for whatever reason, etc. Changes always slow-kill any program (or product). I remember Bill, the very first winner. He may still work for Trump(?) I don’t think I ever saw The CELEBRITY Apprentice. As the 2000’s wore on & I learned more & more re the NWO, Hollyweird-Cult Agenda, etc., I quit all TV but the Christian channels & eventually quit TV altogether in 2012 when it went 100% digital here & I didn’t want to mess with “boxes” that make analog TVs still work. And I never miss the TV nor ever even think about it! TPTB would probably shudder at the thought > no way to massively propagandize me directly (I don’t read newspapers, women’s mags, etc., either, for decades already).

I never liked this program from the start. It seemed too pretentious. But I did like Burnett’s ‘Bible’ series.

  12. Girly-man, Arnold. Girly-man. Lost my respect after he knocked up the housekeeper. Was she even here legally? Wonder if he paid her taxes? Wonder if they altered The Apprentice to the Running Man format… if that would pick-up ratings again? Loser isn’t fired; he’s actually axed. Frozen. Cut. Sacked. Flamed. Run out. Like Arnold.

  15. Arnold, I am told, is very likable. But he sees his success through a California lens, without a real grasp of free market capitalism or a memory of a childhood in post-war America. He’s a Baby Boomer like some of us, but spent his formative years in socialist-leaning Europe, while we grew up in America the way it used to be.
