160 arrested across southern California in immigration crackdown: 150 had criminal histories

And yet libtards are still upset with deporting illegal criminal aliens.

From CBS Los Angeles: Federal immigration officials say 160 people were arrested across the Southland over the past week during a crackdown targeting “criminal aliens, illegal re-entrants and immigration fugitives.”

The arrests took place in six counties during what U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials described as a “five-day targeted enforcement operation” that began Monday and wrapped up around noon Friday.

Of the 160 arrested, about 150 had criminal histories, while five more had either been previously deported or had “final orders of removal”. Many of those arrested had prior felony convictions for “serious or violent offenses” including child sex crimes and assault.

The arrestees – which were 95 percent male – included nationals from a dozen countries, according to ICE.

Immigration advocates said they fielded calls Thursday from immigrants and lawyers reporting raids at homes and businesses in the greater Los Angeles area, including Van Nuys, Downey, Oxnard, San Bernardino, and other cities.

Lawyer Karla Navarrete said Friday agents looking for one man arrested another who is in the country illegally but has no criminal record. Navarrete says she sought to stop the man’s deportation and was told by ICE that things had changed. She says another lawyer filed federal court papers to halt it.

Multiple reports on social media suggested similar raids were conducted in Atlanta, Austin, and other U.S. cities, but there was no immediate confirmation from federal officials.

A report released Thursday showed nearly one in five immigrants in the U.S. illegally live in either the Los Angeles or New York City metropolitan areas. The report released by the nonpartisan Pew Research Center estimates more than 2 million immigrants in the country illegally lived in the two areas in 2014.

    • exactly, this will be a long process….the fastest way to deport is to cut off benefits to illegals; they’ll leave in a heartbeat.

      • MomOfIV . . . I whole heartedly agree . . . cut the benefits. Can you imagine the relief to hard working U S to have monies that they worked for remain in their pockets to spend as they see fit. All keen thinking American’s should take up the mantra — “Cut the Money.” If we were to “cut the money” there would be less for illegal aliens in our country; furthermore if we “cut the money” these dill week government representatives on the national level, state level, county level and city level would STOP spending, spending, spending–the very thing that has put us in perilous debt as a nation.

It is rather odd, Ted Wheeler, the new major of Portland, Oregon has just announced a $50,000 grand to help (illegal) immigrants pay for attorney’s to help with legal proceedings to keep them from being imported. The first thing I asked myself when I heard of this $50.000 grant was “where did that money come from?” Usually, the City Council is moaning and groaning about the fact that they have no money. I would rather doubt that Mr Wheeler took that money our of his own pocket. This grant was in addition to $200,000 that was already allocated to helping foreign nationals with legal problems. I don’t understand when we run under an ongoing short fall, but now there are seemingly plenty of thousands of dollars to help people with legal problems pursuant to their breaking our laws by jumping the boarder. What does this total of $250,000 have to do with the basic premise of running the City of Portland? We have almost the highest water rates in the whole country, yet previously the City was skimming monies from water rate payers to put monies into political campaigns, cleaning up parks, and other insane gambits.

So much of the nonsense that governmental bodies invest their time and our money into are nonsensical, and outside the scope of their mandated duties . . . the only was to turn this around is “Cut the Money!” Force these elected officials to behave and take care of the business that they are supposed to be in charge of.

        • Auntie and LuLu…while I agree with you both….there is a legal problem here: you can NOT just “cut the benefits.” This is why the blessed TRUMP is trying to keep them from coming into the country in the first place: ONCE HERE–LEGAL OR NOT…they ARE protected by our Constitution on our soil….citizen or not… AND privy to all the rights and privileges of a US citizen (except to vote—-AND….there are plenty of cases coming to court about illegals voting….18,000 alone in Kansas….). IF YOU CAN KEEP THEM OUT….they have NO rights under our Constitution for entering our country….no rights whatsoever in recourse for being barred or delayed from entering….

  3. There is that remember that it stay illegal in a nation is a crime very severe.

I had to have made the former President of the United States did not, and Trump does now.

Them countries of origin of those emigrants (if are Christian or related with the race white) must of cover them expenses of the arrests and his possible deportation.

    Pure common sense.

  6. There’s a new sheriff in town. Round ’em up and send ’em packing. Cut off the benefits and seize any remittances by illegals. Check out the motels along the skid row spots throughout the nation. ICE should hire out of work veterans and let ’em have at it. Let the cops do their jobs. They already know where the bad guys are. And stop this ‘anchor baby’ nonsense.

    • YouKnowWho . . . sounds like a pretty rational plan to me. I particularly agree with . . . let’s “stop this ‘anchor baby’ nonsense. I understand that in the states that boarder Mexico, in any given day pregnant woman cross the bridges so that they can go have their babies in the American hospital. Any-one who looks more than six months pregnant should be turned away. Let them remain in Mexico to have their babies. Why should I as a US taxpayer have to pay for the birth, and registry as a citizen of children born to foreign nations. It needs to stop.

  7. Let this continue! And all that protest, let them, also, be arrested AND deported!
Time to separate the wheat from the chaff….

  8. 160 is the best start we have had in a long time. Wait until they start looking at fake paperwork, which usually involved innocent legal people getting damaged.
    I am all for it.
I read last week that less than 5% actually do the work the rest won’t do. That means there is a whole lot of dead weight in this country.
And those on social services and able to work need to start work and earning their social services money. Picking up trash, painting graffiti, cleaning parking and restrooms, makes no difference. Watch them leave
