Sunday Devotional: Giving thanks for the election

Isaiah 8:6-7, 10, 23; 9:1-3

Because this people has rejected
the waters of Shiloah that flow gently…
Therefore the Lord is bringing up against them
the waters of the River, great and mighty….
Form a plan, it shall be thwarted;
make a resolve, it shall not be carried out,
for “With us is God!”….

Anguish has taken wing, dispelled is darkness:
for there is no gloom where but now there was distress.
The people who walked in darkness
have seen a great light;
upon those who dwelt in the land of gloom
a light has shone.
You have brought them abundant joy
and great rejoicing,
as they rejoice before you as at the harvest,
as people make merry when dividing spoils.
For the yoke that burdened them,
the pole on their shoulder,
and the rod of their taskmaster
you have smashed….

When the tides turned in the evening and early morning hours of last November 8-9, it became clear that Donald John Trump had defeated Hillary Clinton, despite the many polls predicting she would win. Everyone was surprised — not just her supporters, but also the millions who had voted for Trump. Several TV talking heads who are not Trump supporters used the word “miracle”.

St. Paul wrote in his letter to the Ephesians 6:12:

“For our struggle is not with flesh and blood
but with the principalities, with the powers,
with the world rulers of this present darkness,
with the evil spirits in the heavens.”

The 2016 presidential election was not just a political contest “with flesh and blood”. It was and remains a struggle “with the powers, with the world rulers of this present darkness, with the evil spirits in the heavens.”

If you doubt that, just look at these pics of the protesters in Washington, D.C., on the day of Trump’s presidential inauguration (source PJ Media):

Did you know that Trump’s inauguration set the record for most prayers at inaugural ceremonies?

Trump started the day at St. John’s Church for a service at 8:30 a.m. The inauguration ceremony had six religious prayers, three invocations and three benedictions.

Trump was sworn in using both his own Bible, gifted to him by his mother, and the Bible used to swear in President Abraham Lincoln. (McClatchy DC)

Inauguration Of Donald Trump As 45th President Of The United States

Trump began the day after his inauguration also with prayers, by attending an interfaith National Prayer Service at Washington National Cathedral. Prayers asking for divine help for Trump were offered by Christian (Catholic, Baptist, Episcopal), Jewish, Muslim, Hindu, Sikh, and Navajo clergy.  (Daily Mail)

It is reported that today, the 44th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, Trump will ban U.S. taxpayers’ funding of overseas pro-abortion groups by re-instituting the pro-life “Mexico City Policy”. (LifeSiteNews)

Thank you, God the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit.

Thank you for sending your mighty angels, led by the Archangel Michael, to help us.

And may the peace and joy and love of Jesus Christ our Lord be with you!

  1. These people are really so far left of center as to be on their way to Hades…how terribly sad for them that they’ve rejected truth, freedom, and liberty, both in Jesus Christ and in this nation.

  2. I don’t see them as left-of-center, as that implies they’re on the same plane as we are and others, but rather as you then wrote “… on their way to Hades.”

  3. The so-called “Feminist Women’s Protest” are the antithesis of ‘femininity’!
Listen to this potty-mouthed sluts! And their Big Issue is always their “right” to kill their babies. That is totally Anti-Female in the most basic way! Even if they think it is necessary to have the “right”, it is not something to be celebrated. That is pure evil. At best, abortion is a shameful thing, fraught with irresponsibility at every level, dishonorable and shameful.
And these foolish women are being used by the Marxists, Globalists and all enemies of America, as well as the Satanists. How does ‘Open Borders’, or Islam help Women? or Feminism? Destroying the economy, civilization, and Christianity hurts women and children more than men. It is stupid for women to embrace those issues, they have been duped again by the Marxists and other “Community Organizers” into supporting those enemies that will destroy them.

  4. Agree Longknife. Promoting promiscuity in our society and forcing (as a choice) abortion allows women to be used for improper purposes and to be humiliated and disrespected. Women and babies should be held in high esteem and honored with fair life choices and not forced to kill because of political and manipulative social stances. Like one of my great aunts used to say if you don’t want to get pregnant simply abstain kids…when we were teens. She advised this to both the young males and females in our families. I have yet to hear any politicos (Dems, leftists or libs especially) promote self respect and the policy of steering away from promiscuous behavior when teens are understandably so footloose, foolish and young.

    • What I want to know from these women is how the Hell they can rationalise it as anything BUT murder! And of their own flesh & blood: is this not an act of insanity?

    • And if you can’t be good, .. at least be careful! Called being responsible. And if you are going to risk it, at least risk it with someone you are willing to marry and have reasonable expectations of being happy in that marriage.
The present state actually celebrates irresponsible sexual behavior in young women.
That is self-destructive and dangerous. The antithesis of real “Feminism”, or at least any admiration for Femininity.

  5. Their minds and morals totally addled. I don’t wish their future on them, but they are on that road, as are many stylishly dressed and well-spoken.
Thank you for your Sunday postings.

  6. That is one of the best Trump photos of all time, his hand on TWO Bibles! 😀 Even though he’s probably never read it, I believe him when he expresses respect for Bibles as a holy thing, & that he has a big soft spot for the one his mother gave him.

I’m glad he’s getting stored up with prayer meetings/church, but hopefully he will learn to pray himself every day if he hasn’t already, the minute he wakes up. Hopefully someone, all his pastor friends, have taught him to do that.

I saw this “CatholicVote” short video the other day, someone posted it in a comment at Conservative Tree House. Thought you would like it if you had not seen it yet. It’s very touching & has great music! (Would love to hear the entirety of it; the intensity of the conductor is inviting.)

    • WOW, very fine video on all counts… until Broom Hilda appeared right after! Go away wicked witch!!

      • Haha, I was wondering what you meant by Broom Hilda appearing right after as I didn’t remember her being in the video. But after watching it again, I see her big mug is the first photo in the next “related” video (chosen by YouTube of course). I should have used the WordPress video code at the end of the YouTube link which would keep it from showing any “related videos” at the end:

  7. Thank you Dr. Eowyn for this magnificent and wonderful post! I praise and thank the Most Holy Trinity for the help given to us during this election, as well as thanking the saints and angels in the Church Triumphant for their help as God’s agents and messengers, especially, St. Michael the Archangel. This is a joyous time and I am filled with hope.

  8. Wonderful post! Truly the Heaven’s heard our prayers and answered in abundance. I continue to pray that Trump will receive inspiration from Heaven in those things that he carries out. May he be divinely kept safe through his time in office.

  12. Every day Mrs. Dust and I get up and watch Fox and Friends, it feels like Christmas morning, opening up presents under the tree. I can’t describe the sense of relief, but assure your it is there, and it is profound. Thank you Lord, for freeing us from these demoniacs, these secret captains of ISIS, these genocidal globalists. This could only have happened through answered prayer. Think of how many Hillary votes were fraudulent, and of how Soros rigged the election with his voting machines. Think of the news media working as a monolithic block for Clinton, rejecting truth for propaganda. It was non-stop, but so are our prayers.

We must pray for the safety of Donald Trump and Mike Pence and their families, and stay informed as to what is going on. Clearly, a SEA CHANGE is hitting America! People are beginning to snap out of their trance! Real Hope and Real Change are upon us!
