Sole Republican elector who plans to vote against Trump is a 9/11 faker?

From Daily Mail: The Republican elector from Texas who refuses to cast his vote for Donald Trump at the Electoral College wrongly claimed to be a first responder during the September 11 attacks.

Chris Suprun, a Texas elector, said he was one of the first on scene after a third plane flew into the Pentagon on 9/11. But in fact he was not employed as a firefighter at the Virginia department he often credits until a month after the attacks, according to an investigation by WFAA. The fire department did not even attend the Pentagon on 9/11.

Suprun portrayed himself as a heroic firefighter in a widely-shared editorial this month for The New York Times, in which he declared he would not be voting for Trump, calling him unqualified, unfit and ‘dismissive’ of his own conflicts of interest.

The 42-year-old, from Dallas, is the sole Republican to publicly announce his ballot would not be cast for the president-elect. He also co-signed a letter with nine Democratic electors which has been widely described as ‘bipartisan’ calling for briefings before the college voted from intelligence agencies on claims Russia hacked Hillary Clinton’s emails in an attempt to tip the election in Trump’s favor.

Suprun is just one of 38 electors in the Lone Star state, where Trump won by more than nine points.

The faithless elector detailed his criticism of Trump in the Times, writing: ‘Fifteen years ago, as a firefighter, I was part of the response to the Sept. 11 attacks against our nation. That attack and this year’s election may seem unrelated, but for me the relationship becomes clearer every day.’

Suprun claimed to be a first responder with the Manassas Park, Virginia, fire department and has made at least two appearances at Major League Baseball games where he was introduced as a 9/11 veteran and threw out the first pitch. He also claims to have founded the nonprofit Never Forget, and says he is a licensed paramedic.

But a first responder who knows Suprun told WFAA a different story.

The responder, who spoke under anonymity, said: ‘He claimed to be a first responder with the Manassas Park [Virginia] Fire Department on September 11, 2001 and personally told us stories “I was fighting fire that day at the Pentagon”.

‘No, I was on a medic unit that day at the Pentagon and you make a phone call to Manassas Park and you find out that he wasn’t even employed there until October 2001.’ The City of Manassas Park confirmed that Suprun was hired on October 10, 2001, a month after the September 11 attacks.

The city’s fire chief told WFAA that the department never even responded to the Pentagon or other 9/11 sites.

‘It’s no different than stolen valor for the military; dressing up and saying “Hey, I earned a Purple Heart” when you weren’t even in combat,’ the first responder told WFAA. ‘There’s a big difference between shopping at Old Navy and being a Navy SEAL.’

In his editorial, Suprun credits former President George W Bush for leading the nation through 9/11 in his New York Times op-ed. ‘George W. Bush is an imperfect man, but he led us through the tragic days following the attacks,’ he writes. ‘His leadership showed that America was a great nation.

‘That was also the last time I remember the nation united. I watch Mr. Trump fail to unite America and drive a wedge between us. Mr. Trump goes out of his way to attack the cast of ‘Saturday Night Live’ for bias. He tweets day and night, but waited two days to offer sympathy to the Ohio State community after an attack there. He does not encourage civil discourse, but chooses to stoke fear and create outrage.”

‘This is unacceptable. For me, America is that shining city on a hill that Ronald Reagan envisioned. It has problems. It has challenges. These can be met and overcome just as our nation overcame Sept. 11.’

Suprun has responded to the above story:

That story exhibits a reckless disregard for the truth,” Suprun wrote on Reddit of the WFAA piece. Noting that he had never claimed to be a first responder with Manassas Park, Suprun said at the time of the attacks he was a volunteer firefighter for the “Dale City Fire Dept.” and was later hired by Manassas Park. “We’ve corrected the record with the journalist who wrote that story, and if he has any integrity, he’ll reveal his anonymous sources and let everyone have open debate,” he wrote. “I know where I was on that tragic day.” Even if the debate takes place, the allegation that Suprun was less than truthful raises questions about how electors are chosen.

  2. It’s Constitutional for him to vote that way. But, why not just do it without all the fanfare? Because he is an attention seeking child with an approbation lust.
A dispicable act from a disingenuous person who himself has “a reckless disregard for the truth”.

    • I think it is “Constitutional for him to do this” only because it was not specifically forbidden by the Founders because they could not imagine such dishonesty in the First Round of Electoral College votes.
I believe that they were inspired by God, but not totally infallible because they could not image the depth of Lib/Prog treason in a National Party. Two centuries of Democrats are “spinning in there graves” over what the DemonRats have done to their Party.

      • Longknife21,
You could be right. But, I think there is more to it than that. The founders hated democracy. This was part of the process, along with the three branches of gov’t, to keep our system another step away from a direct vote of the people. Which they believed, correctly I might add, always degenerated into mob rule.

        • “Democracy” is inherently corrupt. The seed of its own destruction is in that voters can soon “vote” for a living, rather than earning a living. At all levels, welfare or “Crony Capitalism”. Irresponsible voters will vote for irresponsible & soon corrupt representatives that promise things that can not and should not be given.
Original Democracies required the voters to be Citizen-soldiers and also to own property. Even the Original 13 states, most required owning a 1/4 acre in a town or 20 acres unincorporated, and be a man, therefore a member of the militia. Often Citizen/voters were required to provide labor for public projects. Mostly expected of any citizens, even if they weren’t voters. Like the militia, typically all able-bodied men 16-55. In the Florida Constitution it stated “all able-bodied persons that were, or intended to become citizens ….” Man, woman, child, and bull-dog, all expected to do what they could to defend their community.
If you don’t bring anything to the table, why should you have any voice on how it is spent?

I wonder how much this guy was paid for this traitorous act against the American citizens and the United States! Get rid of him now and replace him with a true Republican patriot.

    • Hopefully enough to cover his Ashley Madison bill and what his divorce lawyer will charge now that his wife (with whom his has three kids, who’s been working full-time while he’s unemployed and bankrupt) has found-out about that.

    • A judge in Colorado already told ’em they have to vote for Hillary whether they like it or not there.

      • Isn’t that Special?
Dems have to vote for The Hildabeast, or the Judge gives them a spanking?
But Repub Electors are encouraged, even threatened with violence and death, to change their vote and the Courts and Law Enforcement do nothing?
How is that for Equality Before the Law?
        Politiks uber alles!

    • I fully expect some to vote for others than Hillary, but not so much for Trump. LOL! That would be sweet though. The icing on the cake!

  7. That loser fails to understand that he votes for the voters he represents. He seems to think that there’s no point in having a national election and only electoral college voters should ultimately vote. Is there any way to have that dingbat committed in a straight jacket to the local loony bin before they vote?

    • Not really. Texas ballots only list the Party and candidates, not the “Electors” by name like some states. But I guess some Republican Committee somewhere along the line, must have “elected” or chosen him.

  10. The fact that Suprun spoke out in defense of W tells me whom this jerk is fronting for, at least indirectly. It’s one thing to be a jerk. But what he stands to gain out of this is beyond me, unless it actually is a monetary payoff.
But what really galls me is not only that he lied, but that he thinks he’s going to teach anybody anything.
You would think that as long as he’s dragging us down the Rabbit Hole, there’d be a Queen to shout, “Off with his head!” But that’s the Left for you: There’s more than enough HATRED and LIES to go around!

  11. This dumb A$$ can cry all he wants that “someone else cited that he claimed to be a first responder,” but that does not negate the fact that on at least two occasions he “took his bows and threw out the first ball at each of these venues.” If that isn’t stealing valor . . . then I don’t know what is! It is obvious that he is A) a mental case OR B) a con artist. I don’t care which he is . . . he is one who would steal the valor of men/women who are far superior than he is! It is interesting that he has spent five years in bankruptcy. How many people do you know who are really viable people with excellent resumes who cannot get a job? Although, he has spend part of that five years on “unemployment.” I myself do not know very many people who have marketable skills with an excellent reputation who cannot get a job; but, I know a few people who are marginal, at best, who cannot get, or hold a job because of a lack of personal skills, training, integrity, etc. I saw somewhere (sorry, I cannot give the reference) that the FBI is looking into this Joker’s claims of being a first responder. I hope that is true. This kind of thievery on his part needs to be squashed, and right now. Now, for those who may feel sorry because he may suffer from mental disease . . . be that as it may, as a society we cannot have fools goin’ round impersonating that which they are not. If he suffers from a mental aberration, it must be expressing itself along the lines of exhibiting grandiosity. The State of Texas needs to change its laws regarding those who are elected to the States Electoral College participants to force them to cast their vote for the winner of the state’s election. There should be no question about who an elector is going to vote for. Who in their right mind would leave making this kind of choice to a dithering fool such as him? Furthermore, if an elector chooses to vote outside of the choice made by a majority of the voting public . . . that person needs to spend some time in the “big house” as a guest of the state! It’s interesting to just look at his picture . . . with the smugness of his smile. Let’s see how smug he looks if, and after the FBI gets done doing an investigation.

  15. If he can’t perform the duties to which he’s been assigned then he should resign. Simple as that. How dare he go against the will of the people. He’s the elector that should be getting the death threats, but conservatives have more respect for the law than to become the vigilante that he proposes to be,

  16. I know Gov. Abbott has been trying to remove this guy. I hope they at least figure out a way to ruin his life for a couple of years if he doesn’t resign or vote like he promised when he signed up for this..

Also, I think the Anti-Trumpers are in for another shock today. My gut feeling there will be more “Hillary Electors” going rogue, than Trump Electors.

Why does this Lame-O remind me so much of Glenn Beck? His little half-brother, cousin??

Oh well, after tonight there will be more screeching, moaning, and gnashing of teeth by the impotent and defeated again LibTARD Traitors and the Media.
Even really stupid people are starting to see that the Media is wrong about almost everything. They more they push the Lib/Prog Agenda and the Hildabeast, the worse they seem for any truthfulness.

They really are The Ministry of Truth and The Two Minute Hate Every Hour, all rolled into one. The only thing between us and “1984” is an armed citizenry, and now Trump.

  17. Why does America allow this, he LIED, was caught in that lie, and still is someone that has any kind of power? WTF America.
