Hillary Clinton’s losing campaign cost a record $1.2B

Via NY Post: Hillary Clinton and her supporters spent a record $1.2 billion for her losing presidential campaign — twice as much as the winner, Donald Trump, according to the latest records. The president-elect, who confounded critics during the campaign by saying there was no need to raise or spend $1 billion or more, ended up making do with $600 million.

Clinton’s expensive machine tore through $131.8 million in just the final weeks, finishing with about $839,000 on hand as of Nov. 28. Team Trump spent $94.5 million in the home stretch — from Oct. 20 to Nov. 28 — and had $7.6 million left.

The figures include all spending by the campaigns, PACs and party committees.

Trump contributed $66 million from his own pocket, $34 million less than he estimated he would shell out.

Brad Parscale, Trump’s digital director, credited strategic last-minute investments with helping propel the political newcomer to victory. The campaign and the Republican Party spent about $5 million in get-out-the-vote digital advertising targeted in the final few days at Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Florida.

It proved critical: Some of those states were won by razor-thin margins. “You think, what if we hadn’t spent that?” Parscale said. “We might not have won.”

Last June, Trump shrugged off skeptics who said he needed to spend $1 billion to have a chance to win. “There’s no reason to raise that,” Trump said. “I just don’t think I need nearly as much money as other people need because I get so much publicity. I get so many invitations to be on television. I get so many interviews, if I want them.”

  3. Spending about double of what was required is pretty good by Establishment standards.
It was only necessary to spend that much for two reasons as I see it:
To carpet bomb the numbskull undecideds with lies about Trump, and to grease up all the media cronies. Grease em good.

Trump probably would have done it for way less than he did except, as he frequently remarked, there was just a tsunami of propaganda everywhere you looked.
The Left is still doing it, and the scumbag media are twisting the news or simply not reporting it. That’s the fake news, not alternative commentary.
The Fake News talking point is getting really played out.
Even my sort of conservative inbox is filled with hyperbole subject lines I can no longer bother to open.
I’m sticking to Right Side Broadcasting, Trump FB, Drudge and selected Twitters.

I’m pretty much through with MSM except for weather and traffic, which they also mostly screw up.

Trying to decide whether to watch Nietenyahoo this weekend on 60 minutes.
He’s got to know the Lefties and that scare crow media whore Leslie Stall will be there to distort everything and denigrate Trump.

I think the Left is under some impression that they wield the power with their pussy parades (riots and demonstrations) and fake news.

If they kill Trump or screw him out of the electoral votes to win,
I think there will be a an extremely negative reaction from We The People they do not fully anticipate.

  4. JFK said in 1962/3, that elections should be paid for by the government, with candidates getting ten million or something, thereby putting an end to lobbying, instead he was murdered, a war commenced, nuclear threat went ballistic, while the cost of getting elected hit the stratosphere, what the difference one life would have made, what a crazy world!

  6. Virginia’s eRIC cANTOR, a repukelican, lost his ass to a guy hardly anybody knew, for a tenth or less than cantor spent. Locally, a first time FEMALE (put that in your pipe and smoke it liberals) conservative CANDIDATE trounced an establishment shoe in on, guess what? A shoestring. Mr Trump got way more airtime in general than the also-rans for WAY less investment. Seems to me if you can produce your product cheaper than the other guy it gives you a distinct advantage in the marketplace. So far. So good.

  7. Look at the picture of Steve Novick, who just lost his election to a newcomer; Steve had previously promised that he would not bring this idea to a vote until after the New Year when the new members of the council, and the new major were seated. (I guess Steve just cannot tell the truth.)

We have seen where failing companies bring in a big gun, and all of a sudden things turn around and the company flourishes and once again is financially viable. Some people who manage things are far more talented that others. From this you are probably thinking I am all for the enormous salaries some CEO’s and others bring down . . . . I am not.

What happens when, just like we saw in Seattle when they decided to tax the gun shops . . . . only to have them leave the city, and all those dollars that were dancing in the heads of the city council just evaporated, and they lost taxes in general.

A word to the wise, many of these companies can relocate, and they will take their taxes and the JOBS they had heretofore provided and move them elsewhere. For some reason every time the DO-GOODERS decide on doing something wonderful for the little guy . . . it is the little guy that get to suck it up and pay even more than what they had. The businesses that stay will simply levy this business expense on the backs of those who purchase their products. Our downtown area here in Portland already suffers with a blight of sorts, many people shun going into downtown because of the unsavory characters that fill the sidewalks, and think nothing of accosting you at will.

I can only wish Steve Novick the very worst of luck! He is a smuck.
