New priests to learn about global warming as part of formation

LOS ANGELES, CA (California Network) — The Catholic Church is intimately concerned about climate change. The Vatican’s Pontifical Academy of Sciences is the world’s oldest, longest running scientific mission. That body, which advises the pope on matters of science, has concluded that global climate change is real and is caused, at least in significant part, by human activity.

This is important to the Church because creation care is part of our mission. We are called to be stewards of creation. It’s also important because climate change can exacerbate the ills of poverty. Poor people in much of the world are the most vulnerable to changes.

Unfortunately, the issue is politicized. In the…

  1. Looks to me like the “Catholic Spring” John Podesta suggested might have gone operational with the new pope.

  2. This is rather astonishing . . . I thought Priests were there to nourish the souls of those they watch over. This new Pope is really out of bounds.

  3. This is but another avenue of thought brought to the Vatican by a pope who is a Jesuit and one who comes from a socialist background. He is a man who seems to be more political than informed.
This pope’s statements on adultery, forgiveness on abortion are bothersome to many Catholics, including me.

  6. Yes, there is real science, brought to us by Sir Francis Bacon—and believe it or not, a large number of Christians, including Catholic priests.

But the PRIMARY MISSION of the Catholic Church is the SALVATION OF SOULS—something that does not concern Francis in the least. He is shaping up to be the most ideologically-driven—and most INTELLECTUALLY CORRUPT—Pope in the Church’s History, ON ALL COUNTS. I am in total agreement with the Colorado Cowgirl Ann Barnhardt on this half-wit nut-case: As Benedict’s resignation was done out of fear and, hence, not legal, Bergoglio IS NOT A REAL POPE. HE IS AN ANTI-POPE.

Upon his Election, some wag called Francis “The Catholic Church’s Obama.” I would go farther and call him the Catholic Church’s AL GORE! He most definitely is driven by the Inconvenient Lie of Global Warming/Climate Change/Linguistic Hocus-Pocus/Just Give Us All Your Money, Planet Earth. He is a Rothschild plant.

Frankenpope = A DOPE ON THE ROPES. Dear Lord, Deliver Us From Evil.

  7. I spent over 25 years with major industrial companies as an environmental compliance manager. We all drank the coolaid and did our part to “reduce CO2 emissions.” Behind closed doors however, everyone from the EHS executive vice presidents to the rookie environmental engineers said that global warming was a political hazard, NOT a climate hazard. We also agreed that somebody somewhere, somehow was making mega bucks from this climate “garbage science” warming scare.

Most of us decided that this was a way to wreck the industrial powerhouses in the first world so that second and third world countries could make the big bucks. The way it works: First world industries are choked with regulations which add to the cost of the products, but the real polluters in second and third world countries are free to spew anything anywhere. Of course, people like George Soros and others of his ilk are driving the climate change pseudo-science, and are invested in the industries of second and third world countries.

    • Thank you Dr. Eowyn for this interesting post. Karina, your testimony is most noteworthy and it is my hope that the scientists who confer with the Vatican are aware of what you have set forth, and will make these facts known.

  10. The day a priest or preacher starts preaching climate change or ANYTHING that is not from the Bible is the day I will get up and walk out never to return to that church!

Isn’t the promotion of man made “climate change” a denouncement of the power and control of our true God?

Personally I see the roman catholic church and its vatican with a pope claiming to be our mediator to God himself, as a carbon copy of the temple and priesthood, that crucified his son, our true mediator.

  13. The “mission” of the Church is to preach Christ crucified for sinners, baptizing in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit (John 3:16) done through the Office of the Ministry. Period.
