TV reporter fired after writing Facebook post praising Trump

Funny…couldn’t find any stories about a reporter being fired after writing a Facebook post praising Obama. Shocker, not.

Scarlett Fakhar

Scarlett Fakhar

From NY Post: A Texas television reporter is out of a job after she criticized President Obama and praised President-elect Donald Trump on her personal Facebook page — claiming the country went “downhill” under the outgoing commander-in-chief.

Scarlett Fakhar said she was recently canned from her local news gig at Fox in Houston for posting last week that she was “happy and relieved” over Trump’s unexpected White House win. Fakhar had said in the post, which has since been deleted, that Obama made the “entire county hate one another” and claimed God “had a hand” in the election. She also said she could “barely sleep from how happy and relieved she was” after Trump’s victory over Hillary Clinton.

“Fox 26 Houston fired me today for expressing my conservative views on my private Facebook page,” Fakhar posted Thursday. “That is all I will say for you. But I want you to know how much your support has gotten me through this. God bless you all.”

A spokesperson for KRIV confirmed to The Post that Fakhar, 25, was no longer with the station, but declined further comment.

Fakhar, who is originally from Wilmington, Delaware, graduated from Elon University in North Carolina with a degree in broadcast journalism, according to a biography on her Facebook page. Before joining the station last year, she worked at television stations in Austin and Lubbock, as well as internships at “NBC Nightly News” with Brian Williams in New York and at KTRK-TV in Houston.

After posting the message announcing her termination, Fakhar wrote a message claiming that FOX 26 was trying to get her to take down her “fan page” from Facebook.

Fakhar also singled out the “liberal” Houston Chronicle, claiming the newspaper wrongfully reported that she criticized African-Americans, a reference to Fakhar’s original problematic post that stated the “number of African Americans killed one another far outweighs the number of them being killed by whites.”

“The media has made this a RACE issue when in reality the matter boils down to a difference in political philosophy,” Fakhar wrote Thursday. “As a multiracial person myself, I never have been or never will be racist. I simply stated the fact that the media continues to misrepresent the factual realities that there is NO more white on black crime than there is black on black crime.” Fakhar’s post did not elaborate on her ethnicity.

She previously apologized on her personal Facebook page for making her “personal views” public after the election, saying it was “wholly inappropriate.” That post has also been deleted from her page, the Dallas Morning News reported.

Messages seeking additional comment from Fakhar were not immediately returned Friday.

A review of Fakhar’s Twitter feed shows several of her most recent stories, including an exclusive on a student who said he was attacked by classmates for voting for Trump in a mock election. She also called out what she claimed to be “media bias” in October when CNN’s Christopher Cuomo referenced Joseph McCarthy in connection to WikiLeaks disclosures that reporters at a number of outlets, including CNN, met in secret and coordinated with Clinton’s campaign.

  1. Trump is looking to fill 40,000 federal govt positions. Send him a tweet like the one I just sent:

@realDonaldTrump Please hire Scarlett Fakhar fired by Fox26 Houston for being pro-Trump

  2. It is not permitted to express conservative views but is ok to advocate derogatory and untruthful statements against the president elect. Talk about bias in the media and especially a Fox station seems to be a given.

    • Fox Entertainment owns Fox News and produces “family” TV shows promoting Satanism and homosexuality and otherwise trashing Christianity at every opportunity. And yet Fox News is where people who think of themselves as conservatives turn to for the “news.” Incredible. If we start referring to ourselves as Christian traditionalists, we’ll soon see that this Fox News’ breed of “conservatives” is anything but conservative, that their ethics are more in line with Dale Carnegie than Christ, and that their lives and choices in entertainment little different from those of the liberals they pretend to oppose. Fox News is a greater enemy than CNN since the latter makes no bones about its positions while Fox is guilty of betrayal. And what kind of dullard can sit through even five minutes of that relentless crap?

  3. Houston, like Austin, San Antonio, and lo a lesser extent, Dallas, do not represent the rest of Texas.
When I moved here from Florida in 2004, I told my Texas friends about all the Yankees and Left Coasters coming to Texas, “Take their money, but don’t let ’em vote until they have lived here 5 years.”
And they laughed, back then. Urban Lib/Progs ruined Florida, now they are working on Texas.
Ought to be a bounty on ’em, if they start spouting their Marxist/Alinsky Lib/Prog propaganda..

    • Very true. We lived in San Diego in the late 80’s and early 90’s and watched was it slowly began to sink into the ocean. I can’t tell you how many times on our local news they had whole segments showing how great life was in Austin complete with houses you could buy so cheaply. Months would go by without a rental truck available. They also moved in mass exodus to our beloved once conservative Colorado.
All the moving is interesting, since we had seen it first hand in Co. We lived in a beautiful mountain town and all of a sudden, here came Ca. They bragged how they loved their new home and before you knew it, they were busy trying to change it into exactly what they had just left.
We had country gravel roads and people could keep horses on their property in town because there was enough room. Sure enough, that soon ended.
Now, I wonder if all the Texas promoting wasn’t a long term plan to rid Ca. of white people since they were the ones moving, lol.

  4. We have entered the period of full-on globalist butt-hurt censorship. I imagine we all heard O’Barmy’s speech in Germanistan yesterday about the harmful effects caused because of our inability to discern ‘fake’ internet news from reality. Condescending SOB is mirroring on us again, we’re the fake news freaks, not the corporate scum MSM. Sure, we’re all stupid.

As for Ms. Fakhar’s status, the F Book post has probably done her a big favor, forcing her out of the mainstream propaganda business. Her education/experience seem sound, and this is a good time to get a foothold in new media. She can probably petition for unemployment benefits while she looks for a new job. As I recall, Texas is a right to work State, so suing Fox will be time consuming at best, and unsuccessful at worse (there’s always more to these cases than meets the eye initially). Either way, best of luck to her, get out there and win bigly.

  5. I wish this woman all the Best of Luck in seeking new employment. It seems rather goofy that a person cannot express their views on in a “private venue.” So much for the right of free speech.

    • Yes! And the Lib/Progs that fired her, “The media has made this a RACE issue when in reality the matter boils down to a difference in political philosophy”.
Since “Racism” is a crime in America, shouldn’t the false accusation of Racism & Race-Baiting also be a crime?

I think the Lib/Progs have worn out the Race Card and we ought to just “burn” it. Racism ought to be defined legally as to what is criminal, and limited to that.
And why is it, if you dislike someone that is 17 different kinds of a scum-bag, but happens to be black, even a tiny bit “black”, you are a “RACIST!” for calling out the scum-bag, a whatever-kind-of scum-bag he/she is?
Nothing to do with “race”. Yeah, I guess I am a Scum-bagist!, and proud of it.

Absolutely-if I accuse you of murder,I’m saying you committed a CRIME;but if it’s unsubstantiated, just a blanket attempt to get you in trouble, then I’M committing a CRIME. The same would apply to false accusing of Racism,
