BBC targets children to promote the transgender propaganda

From Daily Mail: The BBC has been accused of acting recklessly after targeting children as young as six with a programme about a schoolboy who takes sex-change drugs.

Parents are angry that the show, available on the CBBC website, features a transgender storyline inappropriate for their children.

And concerned campaigners said it could ‘sow the seeds of confusion’ in young minds. The programme, Just A Girl, depicts an 11-year-old’s struggle to get hormones that stunt puberty, making it easier to have sex-change surgery in the future.

One mother, writing on the Mumsnet website, said her daughter had become worried after seeing the video. She said her girl, who likes wearing boys’ clothes and playing football, had ‘asked me, anxiously, if that means she was a boy’.

Tory MP Peter Bone said: ‘It beggars belief that the BBC is making this programme freely available to children as young as six. I entirely share the anger of parents who just want to let children be children.

‘It is completely inappropriate for such material to be on the CBBC website and I shall be writing to BBC bosses to demand they take it down as soon as possible.’

Former Culture Secretary Maria Miller voiced her concerns over the BBC tackling the subject in ‘an age-appropriate way’, saying such issues should be raised ‘where children can have support from parents’.

And Tory MP Julian Brazier said: ‘This programme is very disappointing and inappropriate. Children are very impressionable and this is going to confuse and worry them.

Family campaigner Norman Wells said: ‘It is irresponsible of the BBC to introduce impressionable children as young as six to the idea that they can choose to be something other than their biological sex.’

Just A Girl is the fictional video diary of a child who calls herself ‘Amy’ and dresses as a girl. It is hosted on the CBBC website, aimed at children aged between six and 12.

In the half-hour programme, Amy – played by an actress – reveals she was born a boy called Ben but has already started using puberty-halting drugs.

Such hypothalamic blockers provoked a furore two years ago when The Mail on Sunday revealed an NHS clinic was willing to give them to children as young as nine.

Critics cited research claiming that most teenagers confused about their gender never go through with surgery, with many realising they are gay. The BBC row comes amid growing controversy over gender issues, fuelled by a number of high-profile cases.

In one, a Christian couple were threatened with having their 14-year-old daughter taken away because they oppose her plans to become a boy. In another, a seven-year-old boy was ordered to be removed from his mother’s care as ‘she was raising him as female’, causing him ‘a great deal of emotional harm’.

In Just A Girl, Amy says: ‘When I was born, Mum said Dad was so pleased that he had a boy to take to the football. But Mum knew I was different. She realised early on that I was born in the wrong body.’

She adds: ‘My Mum supported me when I did a PowerPoint presentation to my class about transitioning and that I wasn’t going to come to school in boys’ clothes any more, but girls’ clothes. I wasn’t Ben, I was Amy.’

Later Amy is shown telling a friend, Josh – a boy who wants to be recognised as a girl – that she is on hormone blockers, saying it took ‘ages’ to get them after ‘loads of tests and talks at the clinic’. ‘Once they realised I was trans for real, [I] got them,’ she says. In another entry, Amy tells viewers she has developed a crush on a boy called Liam, but confides: ‘Liam thinks I’m just a girl, but I’m not. I’m trans. And what’s he going to say if he finds out? Stop being my friend? Why? I’m still me, aren’t I?’

Child psychotherapist Dr. Dilys Daws said the programme could confuse children. She said that, while it was natural for youngsters to wonder what it would be like to be the opposite sex, the BBC was irresponsible to feature the ‘extreme’ step of gender change for six-year-olds because they were too young to grapple with such issues.

The programme generated hundreds of comments on Mumsnet. One mother, who said her seven-year-old had watched the show, asked: ‘Am I being unreasonable to think this is an inappropriate topic for a young age group?’

Another replied: ‘Don’t think this is remotely suitable for a seven-year-old. To start suggesting that children can be transgender when they’re far too young to actually have a gender is reckless and damaging. A small boy who is told that he can become a girl may take this as meaning that sex changes are possible, that sometime in the future he’ll wake up with a girl’s body.’

Another user added: ‘I don’t think hormone therapy should be normalised any more than 12-year-olds drinking or doing recreational drugs should be normalised.’

Other critics slammed the BBC. Mr Wells, director of the Family Education Trust, said: ‘The more we promote the idea that a boy can be born into a girl’s body and a girl can be born into a boy’s body, and that drugs and surgery can put things right, the more children will become utterly confused. Respecting and preserving a child’s birth sex should be seen as a child protection issue.

But some parents on Mumsnet were more positive. One wrote: ‘I don’t believe there is “too young” for stuff like this. The earlier you teach your children that everyone is different and that nobody is “normal” the better.’

Dr .Polly Carmichael, a clinical psychologist specialising in transgender children, said: ‘Raising awareness of these issues is the best way to challenge stigma and discrimination associated with identity issues. Programmes like Just A Girl can contribute to a healthy and informed public discussion.

The BBC said: ‘Just A Girl is about a fictional transgender character trying to make sense of the world, deal with bullying and work out how to keep her friends, which are universal themes that many children relate to, and which has had a positive response from our audience. CBBC aims to reflect true life, providing content that mirrors the lives of as many UK children as possible.

  2. The stupidity of adults who are willing to assault young people with this kind of hokum is unbelievable. The real question is how much harm they do. Children this young do not need to be inundated with this. Shame on the BBC. This is just more leftist nonsense.

  4. This is totally illogical. Why aren’t children allowed to buy tobacco, alcohol, or drive cars? Because they are not capable of making good decisions, are easily excited, and often will do dangerous things to get attention.

So why do the Progressive push this silliness? Because they are Progressive Totalitarians. If they can gain the political power to do this, they can dictate anything. We can expect this nonsense from the Brits, but it has no place in a Constitutional Republic. We, the People, have become Oui, the Sheeple, ready to accept anything from the self-appointed Globalist Elite.

Read the Constitution, our founding document that CREATED the Federal Govt and gave it LIMITED POWERS. Do you see any “mandate” for the Federal Govt to “regulate”, or even discuss this? Or abortion, Or any “Health care” other than for the military and Veterans?
Now read the Tenth Amendment to the Bill of Rights, put there to specifically stop the Federal usurpation of powers that has become epidemic in the last 8 years.
“The Powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.” That is so clearly and concisely written that even a Democrat Lawyer should be able to understand it, but our Supreme Court manages to ignore it, time and time again.
The Constitution is a contract between the People, the States, and the Federal govt. If one or two parties of a contact can not enforce the contract on the third party, the contract becomes null and void. (Simple Contract Law) Since the Supreme Court is the Branch of Govt charged with the duty to enforce that contract, and that Court has become so politicized that it is incapable of that duty, either the Congress must force them to do their duty, and do it by the terms of the Contract, or the Union is dissolved.

What has happened is we are now in a de facto dictatorship by Obama as the chosen leader of the “Liberal/Progressives” pretending to be “socialists”, but are really Globalist Totalitarians, controlled in the US by Elitists and Oligarchs.

To solve any problem, legal, mechanical, or personal, you must first identify the root cause of the problem and expose/admit it. We have dozens of serious political and social problems, but all go back to the root cause of usurpation of power and the undermining of our Constitution and its Christian foundation.

    • Historically, why aren’t a certain group allowed to do things, is so that another group can hold onto enjoying godlike narcissist exercise of power. That is why the not allowings of children has extended to far too high ages, making teenagers with strong feelings and formed personalities experience destructive life oppression, and enabling slave abuse of teenagers by overloaded school homework and by high handed child social services.

  6. Brainwashing the young to indoctrinate other youth. Just what exactly is the agenda of “transgenderism”? Does anyone know?

    • “Just what exactly is the agenda of “transgenderism”?” On the surface, the same as communist goals, my guess. Get control of the media, get control of the schools, discredit American culture and families, breakdown standards of morality, etc. It’s all about control. Controlling the language and redefining it and controlling your rights through the new language and interpretations.

    • I’ve lost 2 long replies to power surges, the joy of living in the boonies.

DCG has the right idea, but it really goes to exploiting ant “social crisis” real or imagined.

It is usurpation of power for the sake of setting a precedent for the next usurpation. They can’t defeat us in a Soviet style revolution, so they are going to regulate us to death.

The Progs have been at it from the UN to Homeowners Associations since back in the 60s. If anyone is “needy”, or offended, the Gubbermint has gotta get in and “fix” it

Never let a “crisis” go unexploited. No matter how silly or manufactured. Each step of micro-managing our lives is a “precedent” for the next. They use LBJ’s 501(c)3 to geld the churches and muffle the pastors. They have ruined public schools in the name of stopping discrimination. Now stuff like this will give them more power on enforcing Govt Health Care.

But, but… What about the little girl that wants to be a pony?…

  8. Excellent article D and much shame to the BBC.
Any parent that lets their child participate in this or gives them drugs before age 18 should lose custody. What are the long term effect, cancer, other diseases, permanent damage?
Children at such a young age are confused enough with this twisted world as it is, stop feeding their insecurities.
Young kids love to play dress up or be a tom boy and play all sports, big deal. Give them time to find out who they “really” are. Just look at Halloween, people pretend to be something or someone they aren’t, but it doesn’t make it forever.
Personally, I am sick to death of having .03% of the population and their ways crammed down my throat and demand I adapt.

  9. Gender confusion and sexualization in young children plays right into the pedophile playbook. What do you think is happening to the tens of thousands of children being absorbed into the DYFS and other child protective services?

  10. The Beeb is an instrument of the State. Brits actually pay a ‘licence fee’ for each location where they power-on a TV. Brits en masse, should be horrified by this blatant psy-ops targeted on malleable minds.

They should react appropriately by burning their TV licenses and boycotting all further payments. Without this enforced funding, the BBC would theoretically shut down.

If this means not powering on TV’s, so be it. Alternative sources of entertainment and learning are readily available.

I stopped donating to PBS for a similar, unrelated reason. Unlike the U.K., I exercized my prerogative. Our Republic is truly exceptional, and we must protect it at all costs.

  12. I am sad to see such ignorance and bigotry here. But bigotry stems from ignorance, so let me educate you a little. I was born transgendered. I have a memory at age 2 or 3 where I have no concept of my personal gender. My next memory I am age 5 and very much aware that something was very wrong, that I was quite definitely a girl, despite being raised a boy and being treated as a boy in all ways by loving parents – and I had boys genitalia. Note well: I knew my own mind with regard to gender.

If you were born cis-gender you may find this hard to believe, but if you are born transgender, it is a horrid nag at the back of your mind, constantly, that you are not in the right body. There’s no escaping the feeling or the need for things to be put right. cis-children, of course, don;t feel like this, and so probably don;t even think about gender until much older, because they are lucky enough not to have the problem. And it is a horrid problem that no-one would wish on anyone else.

No-one is trying to make children transgendered. They are merely trying to explain that IF a child feels that they were born into the wrong body, then it;s OK to speak up about it and ask for help. Because for transgendered people, the earlier such treatment is given, the better for them in the long riun – and it is cruel to withold such treatment when it is appropriate. It’s understandable that a parent may be disappointed or sad if they discover that their child is transgender, but if you truly want your child to be happy, you don;t force it to have a hellish childhood and a difficult adulthood through imposing your own selfish desires on them, do you? Well you shouldn;t, anyway!. I wasnt even aware that anything could be done until I was nearly thirty, and I had by then attempted suicide twice. Since transitioning, I;ve been a much happier person, leading a pretty normal life.

To equate trying to remove the pain of trans children with pedalling paedophilia is such a disgustingly perverse untruth that I can only pray that you do not have children, as I should hate to think that you’d fill any childs head with such disgusting unpleawsant untuths.

  13. Apologies, I forgot to add a counter to the medical authorities that you quoted. Please read the section on the causation of gender dysphoria on this page:

As far as I’m aware, the information given there is still the best guess as to the causation of gender dysphoria. And, from my own experience, I know for a fact that your American College of Paediatricians are incorrect on point 3 on heir site. I have never been confused as to whether I am male or female. I have always been female. My body felt so utterly wrong having male genitalia; and corrective surgery to make my genitalia as close to teh female norm as possible brought me a great sense of peace and happiness, and I have been able to live my life normally since.

The brain does have a sense of what sort of body it should be in, if my case is anything to go by (obviously I cannot speak for others). The position taken by the American College of Paediatricians seems a peculiar one to me, as it seems to say that children are born neither male nor female but are persuaded to be one or the other based on which genitalia they are born with.

Point 4 – puberty is not a disease, but gender dysphoria is, and to go through puberty for the gender other than the one that you feel is appropriate for you makes that dis-ease far, far worse. And it makes subsequent treatemnet for your gender dysphoria harder and less satisfactory. So to force gender dysphoric children to undergo the form of puberty associated with which genitals they have rather than the gender they know themselves to be is, in my opinion, a form of cruel and unusual punishment.

Please note – I well understand that the intention of those who would deny trans children the ability to undergo puberty-blocking treatment is one born of love for their children – they don’t want their children to be transgendered (it is a truly horrible condition to suffer from, I can assure you from personal experience), but ignoring that they are and not allowing the child a say in what happens to them medically assumes that the child does not know their mind on the subject – and yet, there is plenty of evidence that simply is not true. Had I known such treatment was possible, I would have requested it. Developing facial hair was what prompted me to make my first attempt at suicide. I was greatly distressed that I was starting to develop physically into an apparent young man, rather than the young woman I knew myself to be.

And yes – all medical interventions carry their risks. ALL of them. Hormonal treatment is no different in that respect. But life is not risk-free. I knew when I went into surgery to have my operation done that I might not wake up from the anasthesia. But better that than the rest of my life unable to live fully as a woman.

Rates of suicide – that quote is taken out of context, and the authors of the original have said so. Rates of suicide amongst the transgendered are indeed much higher than average for society prior to successful treatment – but reduce markedly thereafter. What humane person would wish to deny a person treatment that makes them happier and reduces their risk of suicide? I trust you can see now why I made myremark about bigotry and ignorance earlier. If you have a transphobic agenda, then of course you will try to deny that gender dysphoria exists, that gender reassignment is appropriate in some cases, and you may well try to cherry-pick the evidence you quote if you are either careless or perhaps a tad dishonest in your arguing your case.

Crikey your ‘American College of Paediatricians’ start getting a bit ranty thereafter, but they feel strongly about it, so I suppose one should forgive them that. The HRT I take is perfectly normal for a post-menopausal woman. It;s nothing special in that regard. No such thing as ‘sex-change hormones’ so far as I’m aware. they’re just hormone tablets to maintain helthy hormone levels post-operatively. I presume the ACP are aguing against post-menopausal women being given HRT? Logically they should, given their stance on hormone treatment for the gender dysphoric.

I note also the highly emotive titles of teh links at the foot of that page. Highly unprofessional. One might suspect there of being a hidden agenda, rather than a wish for dispassionate scietific accuracy.

Final point from me for now – lets put aside just for a moment, the rights and wrongs with regard to transgenderism, and talk about minorities. If society has been treateing a harmless minority badly, and this becomes realised by some members of scoiety, then the humane thing to do is to try to educate others about the situation, yes? So everybody needs to hear ‘hey, we’ve not been doing right by these folk, yeah, ok, so they’re only a tiny minority, but we can do better by them and stop giving them a hard time, right?’ And then you have discussion, the pros and cons, and so on. And sure, it makes a big splash about a small minority of people because it NEEDS to – because otherwise tehbulk of folk are liable to just carry on behaving badly toward that minority because they just arent liable to question what has been the norm for so long.

So yes – I;ve noticed there seems to be quite a lot about gender dysphoria in the media of late – much to my surprise, but also I’m glad that it’s causing discussion on the subject and educating more folk about it. It;s bad enough being in a minority that gets casually abused on an almost daily basis without having to try to fight your corner for your right to compassionate treatment at the same time. When wider society finally starts discussing the matter, it’s one less burden to have to carry. And eventually, the media thing will blow over. Once compassionate treatement for gender dysphoorics is readily available, and we’re able to go about our lives as normally as possible, there wont be the need for all the discussion about it.

    Thank you for taking the time to read my rather extensive posts! :-}
