College kids offered counseling for ‘offensive’ Halloween costumes

Via NY Post: The University of Florida is offering counseling to anyone who gets offended by any costumes worn this coming Halloween.

The school wrote in a blog post Monday urging students to “think about your choices of costumes and themes.”

“Some Halloween costumes reinforce stereotypes of particular races, genders, cultures, or religions. Regardless of intent, these costumes can perpetuate negative stereotypes, causing harm and offense to groups of people. Also, keep in mind that social media posts can have a long-term impact on your personal and professional reputation,” the post read.

The school reminded students that anyone who is offended or troubled by an incident or a costume, they could seek counseling at the wellness center or alert the school’s Bias Education Response Team which provides support to those who were impacted.

“If you are troubled by an incident that does occur, please know that there are many resources available. Please take advantage of the 7 day a week presence of the U Matter, We Care program at the University of Florida by emailing Additionally, there is a 24/7 counselor in the Counseling and Wellness Center available to speak by phone.”

The University of Florida’s post comes days after Wisconsin-La Crosse hosted an event that attempted to educate students on not dressing like a racist. About 30 students showed up to the event, which was advertised with posters asking “Is Your Costume Racist?”

One school district in Connecticut was also cracking down on clown costumes after the “killer clown” fear that has plagued cities nationwide. The district prohibited clown costumes and any “symbols of terror” for Halloween outfits.

My suggested costume for all the easily-offended snowflakes:

Pajama Boy

  1. I think that if the Tree of Liberty needs watering anytime soon, that these people are not going to supply much? But when it comes to manure…Ya they would be a great source of manure for the Tree of Liberty!

  2. Actually, when you think about it, only descendants of Celts should be allowed to celebrate Halloween in the first place. Anything else is cultural misappropriation unless, of course, the celebrants of non-Celtic ancestry ask permission first.

  3. Poor itty bitty babies getting scared to death by mean old REAL children wearing scary costumes of bad ol monsters! Changes their pampers, give them a warm bottle and protect them from mean people om Halloweiny day. OR give them the day off so they can run home to mommie who spoiled them in the first place!

  4. Being called deplorable was macroaggression, and it struck me to the very core of my being. To see how much that hurts, look it up in Gray’s Anatomy. Wherever it is, you won’t find it there. Don’ t bother to look.

  5. I have a serious question:
How will these precious snowflakes ever survive in the adult world?

  6. The elites have turned them into a hyper-sensitive, neurotic mess! I sincerely hope they can be brought out of this insanity at some point in their life.

  7. Will christians who are offended by this devilish holiday also be offered counseling?

  9. Must be careful not to offend some people who identify themselves as werewolves, vampires or other nonhumans.

  10. They want to make a society where people in it totally depend on the government to take care of them mentally and physically, a society of perfect slaves.

    • It’s the progressive way. They’ve punished kids for self-defense in school when picked on, but never do anything about bullies who hurt them first, for decades now. It’s not accidental. “Tell an adult” (who does nothing)… is what happens when people get raped by migrants in progressive Europe now.

Petty criminals have often abounded in Leftist countries when the law-abiding population is disarmed and the police care only about arresting regime opponents. (Look at most places liberals like and think we should emulate.) Dependent, helpless people are easier to rule and make left/liberal elites feel good about themselves.

  11. Anonymous…you are going to love this teaching story: I was once a teacher of a special in-school “GATE” (Gifted and Talented) program in a middle school to which parents/kids had to apply/be accepted in a limited number. A high-functioning autistic child & parent begged to apply. The child had some mitigating problems, but we all agreed to give him a chance with some parameters b/c he had the intellect to succeed if we could guide the social. He was even in 7th grade the image of a child-Herman Munster—so tall, so square…the dark-bowl-cut hair….crude, simple manners….BUT, he was ALWAYS the FIRST child at my door, 20 or 30 minutes before bell for first period. B/c of this, and b/c our room was next to the “2nd language, ESL, kids’ program,” he was the target of 3 (in particular) ESL boys…who taunted him (at 2 -foot shorter than he)….almost every morning….to which I lodged reports, actions, consequences…and NOTHING “worked.” I KEPT warning these height-challenged kids that one day, this 6-ft giant could unleash his hurt and anger upon them so easily… no effect.

And then, one day….it happened…..the ESL taunters/bullies just gave this child more than he could bear….and he tore into them…..lifting them up by the collars of their shirts…2-ft off the ground…..telling them to BUG OFF and leave him alone……and other kids ran into my room to tell me of this, begging me to come QUICKLY! And so, sizing up the situation….I locomoted to the fracus site with the speed of a sloth…….soooooooo slowly. I said” Stop, Stop.” Which, of course, did not work. 🙂 When finally, my very large student had had his way with these bullies……I called the counselor and warned her about what had happened….and that I was bringing our autistic student up to meet with her. She knew EXACTLY what I meant……the poor child hung his head and followed me to counselor’s office, crying, thinking that he would be “kicked out” of the GATE program….

OF COURSE…..nothing “happened” to the autistic child in my special program…and none of those other little bullies EVER EVER showed their faces in front of my classroom again, nor ever approached my special student again.

I often recall this day as the time I called out to the bullies…”Stop! Or, I will say, STOP! again!” And—it worked! Go figure 🙂
