GOP’s fear of Trump exposes the party’s abject corruption

This is a simply brilliant commentary. Highly recommend!

monsterThe Mask Comes Off: Putrefaction Most Foul

by Fred Reed of Fred On Everything • April 28, 2016

I love it: Donald Trump’s campaign reveals the establishment for what it is, a swamp of corruption as fetid as those of Latin America. It is better entertainment than Vaudeville. The frantic scramble to rig the primaries, change the rules, and thwart the voters–anything to defend their cozy entanglement of political tapeworms–makes absurd any pretense of democracy.

This morning in the Drudge Report: “Trump Highest Number of Republican Voters in History“. Whom do the Republicans want to get rid of? Trump.

On the same page a poll reports Trump tied with Hillary nationally. Whom do the Republicans want to get rid of? Guess.

It’s wonderful. The GOP is looking for someone that Hillary can beat. She would squash Kasich or Cruz like stepping on bugs. Trump might actually win. This the Republicans strive to avoid. What could make more sense?

But it does make sense. The Republicans try desperately to ditch the only Republican candidate who could win the Presidency because…Hillary is one of them. Because, as every sentient being has by now noticed, the Republicans and Democrats are members of the same corrupt club of blood-sucking parasites, the action arm of the corporations, Wall Street, the Israeli lobby, and those who want the US to control the world at any cost–except, of course, to them. They are panicked at the rise of someone who might put first the interests of America. Better Hillary, a fellow parasite, than Trump, who isn’t.

The latest skulduggery is the Virginia governor’s allowing convicted felons to vote. The obvious intention is to increase the black vote for Hillary. In Chicago, the dead vote. In Virginia, the killers. This sort of thing of course explains the support for Trump. (See “20,000 convicted violent felons can now vote in Virginia, to benefit Hillary”)

Will the two parties succeed in blocking the Donald? Might they even resort to the Martin Luther King solution? My powers of political prognostication would be under zero if they could figure out how to get there. If the felony vote and delegate-tampering bring Trump to the convention with only 1236 delegates, and the Republicans broker-in some sad-sack compliant loser, well, the mask will be definitively, openly, for all time off. Welcome to Paraguay.

Which would be only another step in the country’s race toward the Third World.

What would the public do if Trump were robbed of the nomination? What could the public do? There might be protests, mass demonstrations in the streets, but so what? The Insiders’ Club would just wait them out. Once a society realizes that it has no power over its rulers, it lapses into resignation. Republicans do not loot malls or burn cities, and would soon go home. But all the world would see that the Americans have no recourse, that the Insiders do as they please. Welcome to China.

But the mask would be forever off. Very, very off.

If the Republicans deep-six Trump, and Hillary runs against Kasich, or Cruz, or some other derelict, what then? Our choices will be not to vote, which will make no difference, to vote for either of the party candidates, which will make no difference, or to vote for Trump if he runs as a third party, which will make no difference. But at least we will have seen under the log, the squishy pale creatures scurrying. They will keep their grip on the country, but the world will know them for what they are.

And America for what it is: Corrupt to the roots of its teeth.  The corruption is adroitly hidden, yes, or disguised as something else. Yet it is there. Consider the subprime disaster. To believe that it was an accident, or a cyclical downturn, or other artifact of econobabble, one has to believe that bankers, realtors, and Wall Street do not understand mortgages, credit, or defaults. You have to believe that officials of the Treasury, who slide back and forth between Wall Street and government like the motion of the tides, had no idea what was going on.

At the top, America is as corrupt as Mexico but American corruption is far more efficient. Among the white middle class, the rot is less. But within the clubhouse of insiders, at the level of the anointed, of the Adelsons and Epsteins and Clintons and Bushes, there is putrefaction most foul.

It is cleverly done, and seldom involves anything so sordid as open bribery. Yet the results are everywhere. Men who knew exactly what they were doing engineered the student-loan bubble. Yet it is legal, like so many scams. Huge military contracts for things not needed, the near-control of Mid-Eastern policy by Israel, poor medical care at high prices, the deliberate gutting of American industry so that corporations can enrich themselves in China–all of this is legal. You pay Congress and it makes legal anything you want.

Credit cards, which intentionally lure people into going deeply in debt and paying usurious interest rates, are legal. Big Pharma paid Congress to rule that Medicare cannot negotiate the price of drugs, opening a sluice to the Treasury. Corruption, but legal.

Under the rule of the Insiders Club, medical care is a fecund source of legal graft.  Example: I once needed eye drops from Bausch and Lomb called Muro, which amounted to hypertonic salt water. A bottle of 1.8 (I think it was) ounces cost $23 in Washington, $19 in Winchester, Virginia.  Exactly the same product in Mexico, $6. Price-fixing, but where and by whom? What Congressmen were paid to make it legal, or not look into it too closely, or at all?

Welcome to Guatemala.

Corruption has come to be the purpose of government, and the Club battens on it. You want to see the political equivalent of a public latrine in Uganda? Try HUD, the Department of Housing and Urban Development. I promise that you will be horrified by the diversion of funds and lining of pockets.

You ask, Fred, why do you say this? Are you a student of HUD? No. I know nothing of HUD. I know much of government. HUD is an outfit with over thirty billion a year to spend, completely unwatched. Have you ever seen a newspaper story about HUD? I guarantee that it is dominated by the sacred ethnic groups who milk it like a prize Guernsey, and by big companies getting sweetheart contracts.

Or try Commerce, or Education, or the Bureau of Indian Affairs, or Congress.

It is to preserve these overflowing rice bowls that we have elections without substance between candidates without a difference. Hillary is just Jeb Bush in a dress, Biden a universally applicable cipher, Cruz a compliant applicant for membership in the club. Since the parties collude in avoiding issues that people care about, the contest becomes a popularity contest of the sort found in middle school. Whoever wins, the Insiders win.

Of course Trump also is a billionaire, but he is a turncoat, a class traitor, the Benedict Arnold of billionaires. He addresses the issues that the Insiders want to remain unaddressed. He is indeed dangerous. He threatens the endless (immensely profitable) wars, the endless (immensely profitable) shipping of American jobs to China, the endless (immensely profitable) importation of cheap Mexican labor. He threatens the sacred rice bowls.

It is why he must be stopped.

  1. If you don’t want “AMERICA FIRST” , GET OUT of America.
When Trump is attacked for stating he will put “AMERICA FIRST” he is being attacked by Fifth Columnist TRAITORS who do not want America to be FIRST in the hearts of the Government and the Citizens ..

  2. WRONG! Great article, but y-o-u totally under-estimate the American people, as much as the Republican old boys underestimated Donald Trump! The American people want Trump BIG TIME! And using corruption to take away what the American people emotionally want, RIGHT NOW, would be a huge mistake! I worked for the phone company years ago..The people who work for the phone company are an excellent example of average, middle income, American’s. And I have seen them when they were worked-up over a strike.—I Tell you what, you do not get between people like that and their livelihood, that supports their families…I was in a union hall one evening when what is called “They Split the Hall” over an issue! I saw baseball bats, and crow bars start coming out! I was 6′ 3″ 190 pound, full contact trained Black Belt at that time, and it frightened the hell out of me! I wanted to be anywhere but there, it was that scary, and that intense! Nobody Wants To See The American People Get That Intense And That Angry…”A HUGE MISTAKE!”

    • Paul, I have to disagree with you regarding your connecting “union hall” toughness with the “average, middle income American “as being indicative of our hope for change. Until the “intensity and anger” transcends the intrinsic selfishness of “fallen” man who puts his personal interests first, most will disappear from the scene when it looks like they will suffer personal loss. The greater battle is really a spiritual one. “America First” is not the same as “Me First”.

    • I certainly agree with Phyllis . . . this is the best, most concise elaboration of the smarmy corruption our government has devolved into. I am going to forward this far and wide.

  4. Fred Reed, however amusing he may be from time to time, deftly masks the underlying goal of Euro-American and European genocide by attributing policy to corporate greed and political corruption run amok, which are properly effects of that genocidist policy and only secondary causes in the intended social and economic annihilation of Europe and America. He’s smart enough to know this.

As readers here have noticed, no economic rationale can explain major corporations’ support for the LGBT agenda, and in fact economics argues against it, nor can the offshoring of sixty thousand or so of our best factories and roughly ten million high paying industrial jobs be waved away by blaming bottom-line myopia when the net effect is annihilating consumer purchasing power in the world’s number one market. Reed does not identify these wars as wars for Israel nor mention that the main reason for America’s fiscal insolvency is these wars, mentioning the Israeli Lobby, as he does, only once and then almost in passing. This guy’s humor isn’t the mark of positive opposition, but characteristic of losers whose emasculation reduces them to whispering ribald jokes behind the boss’s back. He’s a disinfo operative, period, who aims to neutralize opposition by implying there’s nothing left to do but throw up our hands and make jokes about the boss behind his back.

    • Unfortunately, I believe your right – This nation had not the draft for over 40 yrs – few knows the ways (or arts) of war let alone keep’m in the 10 range at 30 yards – most are over weight and soft but why are so many prideful? Most don’t know just how brilliant our Founders actually were let alone the Judeo-Christian ethics most citizen’s believed in – We were great because we put the Lord first (in general) – we voted to allow the bums to kick Him out of our lives – why would God even consider blessing this nation again? Why might HE? Study the great awakenings – Personally I don’t see folk’s truly humbling themselves to the much wiser, loving Almighty – we are no better then the Britt’s, they too forgot just Who made them – whats worse, they still think they’re great by calling us americuns morons – READ ROMANS Chapter 1, then read Ephesians 6 – Better yet, read the book of Jonah (O yes, I think the Creator of all can prepare a fish do do His bidding) First & take note, the book of Jonah is the only book in the Bible that end’s w/a question mark(?)
No, I’m not criticizing most folk’s here 50 yrs old & younger but I am saying that the church had dropped the ball & let the Fabians (slow motion) play ball w/no holds barred!
One last thing, back in Sept some 15 yrs ago we witnessed an inside attack, many americuns turned to Patriotism 7 some went back to church for a few weeks – just what would it take in order to return us to Him?

  5. Yes–we are getting a “there is no Santa Claus ” lecture in real time. Even the most cynical among us were rather shocked to see in what little regard the primaries are seen by those (formerly) nameless party higher-ups ETC. The mask is truly coming off
We need to keep the conversation going as to what should be done. In the meantime, just spread the word and stop listening to the likes of George Will, Mark Levin, Rush, etc.
All mainstream media is suspect b/c it is so totally controlled. In a way, I am glad this is happening, b/c what happened to Ron Paul was totally swept under the rug. Trump is fighting back. Much is at stake (TPP threatens to erase our sovereignty).
These manipulators are fighting for their lives. If hellary goes down she will take many of these cockroaches with her and we will have real chaos.
They would start a war to save their disgusting butts.
Pray, everyone. This is not going to be fun.
    But we can’t go back.

  6. p.s. Here is another article I think you’ll enjoy commenting on George Will’s “endorsement” of Killery
    REBUTTAL BY Anti-NY Times
    (M.S. King at tomatobubble.com)

Sulzberger’s Slimes catches a break today as we instead rebut a George Will column appearing in his home-base paper, The Washington Compost, and syndicated nationally in 450 other newspapers. Yes indeed, the Judeo-Globalist New World Order Mafia has been very good to the “conservative” George Will. It was Katherine Meyer Graham (cough cough) who, in 1974, dubbed Georgie-girl as the official “house conservative” of the Washington Compost — a true powerhouse newspaper that had been purchased by her daddy, former Federal Reserve Chairman Eugene Myer, in 1933.

It was Katherine’s Commie-Globalist gal-pal, Meg Greenfield (cough cough), who gave the erudite egghead of all eggheads a permanent column at Newsweek Magazine — back when Newsweek had a very large readership.

It was ABC News President Roone Arledge (possible cough cough from his mother’s side, Gertrude Stritmater) that placed the slippery sophist on the original talking-head panel of This Week With David Brinkley in 1981 — now known simply as This Week.

For the past 40 years, both in print and on TV, the bow-tie wearing “intellectual” has dazzled gullible conservatives with his, at times, brilliant writing, flawless diction, smooth delivery, voluminous vocabulary, verbal dexterity, and profound logical dissection of flawed liberal arguments. Therein lies the whole essence of the one-man con-job that is, and has always been, George Will.

The term “con” derives from the word “confidence”. Will’s “conservatism”, though brilliantly expressed at times, is designed to win the “confidence” of conservatives and other Republicans. That way, when called upon to do so, wily Will can lead his fawning flock astray in support of, or in watered-down opposition to, whatever seditious snake-oil that the Globalist-Zionist Mafia is selling at the time.

Time and time and time again, Georgie girl, a long-time member of the world government front Council on Foreign Relations, has confounded and betrayed conservatives — assuring them that “true conservatives” must support treasonous obscenities such as NAFTA (North American Free Trade Agreement), NATO, the Iraq War, the slaughter of the Palestinians, amnesty for illegal invaders, the encirclement of Russia & China etc.

Conversely, Will’s keyboard and voice also come in handy whenever his masters need to beat down anyone bucking their agenda. Back in 1992, for example, when conservative nationalist Pat Buchanan was mounting a serious Primary Election challenge against President Bush the Elder, it was Will who ambushed and savaged Buchanan on This Week by whipping out a piece of paper and reading off quotes from some of Buchanan’s “anti-Semitic” supporters. But during both the 2008 and 2012 campaigns of the rat-faced, monkey-eared monster in the White House, Will pulled his punches and was far more critical of the GOP than he was of Obongo!

And so, with Donald Trump having just declared an “America First” foreign policy and his desire for good relations with Putin’s Russia, it is to be expected that the wholly-owned hit-journalist should intensify the already vicious venom he has been spewing at Trump for the past 8 months (and at Putin for the past 8 years). Will’s latest bit of Yellow Journalism comes off as so mentally unhinged that it makes one wonder how far the NWO gang will go to stop the looming Trump-Putin Axis of Nationalism.

Let us dissect the latest hate emanating from the mendacious mouth of that grossly overrated wonder-boy of the Washington press corps. Hip waders and Haz-Mat suits on, everybody. Into Will’s fallacious filth we go!

Nationalism of any form will not be tolerated! George Will’s Globalist masters have unleashed their putrid little rabid poodle on Buchanan, Putin, and Trump.

    *

George Will: Donald Trump’s damage to the Republican Party, although already extensive, has barely begun.

Rebuttal: What “damage” is that, Georgie? Trump has brought more non-voters and disgusted Democrats into his ranks than any GOP candidate since Ronald Reagan. CBS Pittsburgh reported that 46,000 Pennsylvania Democrats actually switched party affiliation in order to support Trump in the Republican Primary (here).

George Will: Republican quislings will multiply …

Rebuttal: Leave Vidkun Quisling alone! Far from being a “traitor” to Norway, Quisling was the man who helped Hitler to spare his country from much of the destruction of World War II (but I digress).

George Will: … slinking into support of the most anti-conservative presidential aspirant in their party’s history.

Rebuttal: Trump may not be a conservative constitutionalist purist, but he is certainly far more “conservative” than some bow-tie wearing Ivy League – Oxford egghead who holds membership in the Marxist-Globalist CFR, supports sovereignty-busting trade deals such as NAFTA, GATT and TTIP, supports the immigration-invasion of America, and respectfully pulls back his girly punches whenever speaking about the communist filth Obongo or that wretched hag Killary Clinscum.

George Will: These collaborationists will render themselves ineligible to participate in the party’s reconstruction.

Rebuttal: Georgie is having delusions of grandeur here — as if he can actually decide who gets barred from the GOP and who gets to “participate in the reconstruction.”

The “conservative” credentials of George Will include completion of the openly pro-globalism Rhodes Scholar program at Oxford, membership in the New York-based Council on Foreign Relations, and support for illegal immigration / amnesty.

George Will: Ted Cruz’s announcement of his preferred running mate has enhanced the nomination process by giving voters pertinent information.

Rebuttal: Dude! Creepy Cruz picked a “running mate” after he had just been mathematically eliminated! Far from “enhancing the nomination process”, the bizarre and desperate stunt of selecting Creepier Carly probably turned voters off, if anything.

George Will: They already know the only important thing about Trump’s choice: His running mate will be unqualified for high office because he or she will think Trump is qualified.

Rebuttal: This coming from a guy who thought idiot boy George W Bush was “qualified”; and who never once challenged the “qualifications” of the queer community-organizer-turned-teleprompter-reader-in-Chief.

George Will: Republican voters, particularly in Indiana and California, can, by supporting Cruz, make the Republican convention a deliberative body rather than one that merely ratifies decisions made elsewhere, some of them six months earlier.

Translation: Screw the voters! If the Republican candidate is not a Putin-hating, NATO-loving CFR Globalist, then their votes should be thrown out.

George Will: A convention’s sovereign duty is to choose a plausible nominee who has a reasonable chance to win …

Rebuttal: George, apart from the fact that Trump can actually win, the fact is, and you bloody damn well know this, if a contested corrupted convention dumps Trump in favor of a “plausible nominee”, that candidate will have ZERO chance of winning when all those pissed-off Trump voters stay home on the day of the big QFS (Quadrennial Freak Show) Super Bowl.

Ya think they’ll show up in November if Trump is dumped?

George Will: … not to passively affirm the will of a mere plurality of voters recorded episodically in a protracted process.

Rebuttal: Pure sophism and rhetorical manipulation. Again, the translation: screw the voters! If the Republican candidate is not a Putin-hating, NATO-loving CFR Globalist, then their votes should be thrown out.

George Will: Trump would be the most unpopular nominee ever, unable to even come close to Mitt Romney’s insufficient support among women, minorities and young people.

Rebuttal: Actually, George, Trump is rapidly catching up to “Crooked Killary” (here) — a deeply flawed candidate who is very vulnerable among “women” (due to the rape allegations against husband Bill); “minorities” (Trump is more popular among Blacks than any GOP candidate of the past 60 years! (here)); and “young people” (who are attracted to Trump’s celebrity).

You had better re-check your homework, Georgie girl.

George Will: In losing disastrously, Trump probably would create down-ballot carnage sufficient to end even Republican control of the House.

Rebuttal: As previously stated, the poll numbers are swinging in Trump’s direction. The only “disastrous” loss will occur if a hand-picked GOP insider is installed over Trump. Now that would lead to some serious “down-ballot carnage” as Trump’s millions boycott the QFS Final, or even vote for Killary out of spite!

Crooked Killary Clinton and her RAPIST husband are very vulnerable to Trump’s fearless attacks — and George Will damn well knows it!

George Will: At least half a dozen Republican senators seeking re-election and Senate aspirants can hope to win if the person at the top of the Republican ticket loses their state by, say, only four points, but not if he loses by 10.

Rebuttal: How the frickety-frack is Trump going to “lose by 10” when he has already closed the gap to 3% — and he hasn’t even begun to hit Killary yet?!

George Will: A Democratic Senate probably would guarantee a Supreme Court with a liberal cast for a generation.

Rebuttal: And bumping-off Trump “would guarantee” a Democrat landslide which “would guarantee a Supreme Court with a liberal cast for a generation.” Or are you really that delusional to believe that Trump voters will forgive, forget and vote for a Kasich or a Ryan in November?

George Will: If Clinton is inaugurated next Jan. 20, Merrick Garland probably will already be on the court — confirmed in a lame-duck Senate session — and justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Anthony Kennedy and Stephen Breyer will be 83, 80 and 78, respectively.

Rebuttal: Agreed! And for that reason alone, we must unite to stop Killary Clinton, right Georgie?

George Will: … this is a time for prudence, which demands the prevention of a Trump presidency.

Rebuttal: Let me get this straight, Georgie. You are not only opposed to nominating Trump for the GOP, but you would also want to block him, if he’s nominated, from beating Killary? Please tell me I did not read that correctly.

George Will: Were he to be nominated, conservatives would have two tasks. One would be to help him lose 50 states — condign punishment for his comprehensive disdain for conservative essentials, including the manners and grace that should lubricate the nation’s civic life.

Rebuttal: Wait a second! You just said that Trump was not electable in a contest against Killary. Now you’re saying that Republicans should “help him lose 50 states” — which means that your objection to Trump on the basis of “he can’t win” was as phony as your Oxford Rhodes Scholar “conservatism.”

George Will: Second, conservatives can try to save from the anti-Trump undertow as many Senators, Representatives, Governors and State Legislators as possible.

Rebuttal: Hey asshole! Do you realize how illogical and stupid you sound? How can you claim to want to save Republican House, Senate and Governorship seats “from the anti-Trump undertow”, while at the same time urging that Republicans should enhance the deadly power of said undertow by “helping him lose 50 states?”

George Will: If Trump is nominated, Republicans working to purge him and his manner from public life will reap the considerable satisfaction of preserving the identity of their 162-year-old party.

Rebuttal: Platitudinous puke! The “identity” of the GOP’s “162-year-old party” was lost 60-odd years ago when war-criminal-turned-President Eisenhower purged the true conservatives from the Party while institutionalizing all of the destructive policies that had been enacted during the Roosevelt-Truman era of errors. The “identity” which Will wants to “preserve” is that of a Globalist Party which only pretends to oppose “the liberals.”

The modern “identity” of George Will’s GOP was shaped by ex-Democrat-turned-Republican Dwight D. Eisenhower, aka “Ike”. Eisenhower was a hand-picked FDR stooge (Image 1) who, along with other “modern Republicans” like Prescott Bush (dad of George 41, granddad of George 43, with Ike in Image 2), set up the first Globalist Bildeberger conference in 1954.

George Will: … while working to see that they forgo only four years of the enjoyment of executive power.

Rebuttal: But Georgie girl, didn’t you just sternly caution us, a few lines ago, that if Killary were to become President … hold on, let me bring up the exact quote — here it is:

“A Democratic Senate probably would guarantee a Supreme Court with a liberal cast for a generation. If Clinton is inaugurated next Jan. 20, Merrick Garland probably will already be on the court — confirmed in a lame-duck Senate session — and justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Anthony Kennedy and Stephen Breyer will be 83, 80 and 78, respectively.”

Are you concerned about more Marxists on the Court or not? Make up your bloody mind!

George Will: If Clinton gives her party its first 12 consecutive White House years since 1945, Republicans can help Nebraska Sen. Ben Sasse, or someone else who has honorably recoiled from Trump, confine her to a single term.

Rebuttal: Will can’t possibly be that stupid — which mean he is lying through his teeth! If Killary can’t be stopped now, how the hell can she be booted out in four years time when she will have the full power of incumbency (and millions more “immigrant” and dead voters) behind her? Killary for 4 = Killary for 8. Guaranteed!

And if Trump is either bumped off at the convention, or badly undermined by CFR “conservatives” in his run against Killary, the Republican Party will be obliterated at every level for the next 4, 8, 12 and 16 years. Again, Princeton-Oxford George is smart enough and politically astute enough to understand this. In fallaciously arguing to the contrary, he is showing his true colors, and revealing who his true masters really are (cough cough).

    • Will’s technique, and that of the other phony conservatives at Cuckservatism, Inc, comes down to encapsulating the toxic Zionist agenda within flag-waving jingoism, and proof texting the cannon of conservative thought to the point America and its predominantly Euro-American people are exterminated in the very name of our founding principles.

The chief editor at The American Conservatism is Noah Millman, who introduced himself in a bio a few years back (which unfortunately I can no longer find in a search), in which he brazenly lays out his far leftist and Zionist positions that are indistinguishable from Hillary’s. Conservatism, Inc is the disease mistaken by rubes for the cure of what’s killing our country.

I very much fear that the Cabal may well attempt to assassinate Donald Trump. He is, as Alex Jones keeps saying, “on a suicide mission.” Nobody seems to get it: This country is going down, regardless of who is elected. Hopefully, Trump can buy America the time it so desperately needs.

But I will tell you this: As much as I would LOVE to see the ENTIRE Cabal PUBLICLY HANGED, I know it will never happen. But if they could be HUMILIATED, that would be swell. At least a Trump victory could put us on that road.

Overall a solid read, but the author does himself no favors in implying the mortgage meltdown was some massive conspiracy, as if Wall Street investment firms and banks sat in the back room, twirling their mustaches and sucking on cigars and scotch, going, “Muah-hah-hah-ha! Let’s purposely drive the nation’s financial system, along with ourselves, to the brink of collapse! I’ll betcha we’ve bribed Congress enough to bail us out!”

I’m in the industry, folks. Investment bubbles happen. They just do. Dot.com mania had its true believers that the old rules didn’t apply anymore. Leading up to 2008, plenty of analysts genuinely mistook housing appreciation as being driven by demographics, and didn’t foresee the collateral for billions in loans suddenly becoming undervalued. There’s a strong resistance to “spoiling the party,” so many tend to be myopic in their analysis. If a critical mass of people knew the bubble was about to collapse, it never would formed in the first place because the trades placed would have kept asset prices would have been kept in line with their true value.

What portfolio manager would pass up, for example, an opportunity to make himself a legend in the industry by saving his clients’ money, while everyone else was wiped out?? If everyone “knew” why they hell didn’t they unwind their positions before everything collapsed? The answer is simple: they DIDN’T know.

You can wail about “bailouts” and “greed” all you want. But many seem to believe that Wall Streeters didn’t suffer at all themselves! Thousands and thousands of people who make their livings in the investment industry lost their jobs! Investment firms, insurance companies, etc, also manage portfolios for EACH OTHER. The bailout was meant to SAVE a terminally
ill system, and the American economy along with it.

Does the financial industry lobby and donate to corrupt pols for their own benefit? Of course they do. Every segment of business does. Is what’s best for them sometimes at odds with other segments of the population. Yes, it is. Even a pro-market type like me will admit it’s no panacea. But if anyone actually thinks the crash of 2008 was planned, plotted, by design, whatever, they simply does not understand how financial markets work.
