National Enquirer story on Ted Cruz’s 5 mistresses partly confirmed by Washington Times

National Enquirer, the humble supermarket tabloid that has broken story after story (e.g., Democratic VP candidate John Edwards’ adultery and ‘love child’), claims Ted Cruz — whom Glenn Beck touts as the savior of the U.S. Constitution in what Mormons believe to be the end days — has had 5 mistresses.

National Enquirer cover on Ted Cruz

I saw the headline on Enquirer online yesterday, but sat on it. Now, the cover story, available on in the Enquirer‘s latest print edition, has now been picked up by the non-tabloid media like ZeroHedge and California Political Review, and has gone viral.

From New York magazine, March 25, 2016:

Donald Trump and Ted Cruz have been beefing back and forth about their wives this week, which makes for rather interesting timing for a salacious report in the National Enquirer. The new issue of the infamous tabloid out this week has the SHOCKING CLAIMS that “pervy” Ted Cruz has had at least five mistresses on the side. The tabloid prints five photos, each with a black bar across the eyes of the alleged Cruz lovers, a phrase that doesn’t at all feel natural to write.

The juicy details aren’t available online, but according to the catnip teasers the National Enquirer has posted, at least one of the women is a “foxy political consultant and a high-placed D.C. attorney.” That should make you either more skeptical (usually these stories involve women who are marginal to the political process) or less skeptical (Alabama governor Robert Bentley, just this week, was revealed to have something going on with a top aide).

Today’s Twitter parlor game: Try to guess the identities of all five.

National Enquirer on Ted Cruz's mistresses

On Facebook, Ted Cruz vehemently denies the Enquirer‘s story:

For his part, responding to Cruz’s accusation, Trump vehemently denies he’s the source of the Enquirer story:

“I have no idea whether or not the cover story about Ted Cruz in this week’s issue of the National Enquirer is true or not, but I had absolutely nothing to do with it, did not know about it, and have not, as yet, read it. I have nothing to do with the National Enquirer and unlike Lyin’ Ted Cruz I do not surround myself with political hacks and henchman and then pretend total innocence. Ted Cruz’s problem with the National Enquirer is his and his alone, and while they were right about O. J. Simpson, John Edwards, and many others, I certainly hope they are not right about Lyin’ Ted Cruz. I look forward to spending the week in Wisconsin, winning the Republican nomination and and ultimately the Presidency in order to Make America Great Again.”

If the rumor is true, this ZeroHedge reader perfectly articulates my reaction:

Conservative Outfitters quotes the Enquirer:

Private detectives are digging into at least five affairs Ted Cruz supposedly had,” claimed a Washington insider. “The leaked details are an attempt to destroy what’s left of his White House campaign!” The ENQUIRER reports that Cruz’s claimed mistresses include a foxy political consultant and a high-placed D.C. attorney!

The Enquirer did not name names and only printed pixelated photos, but Internet users on Twitter, Reddit and 4chan quickly went to work to determine the identity of all five women while using the hashtag #CruzSexScandal.

Three of the women are said to be Katrina Pierson (who previously had worked for Cruz and is now Trump’s spokesperson!), Sarah Isgur Flores (who had worked as Carly Fiorina’s deputy campaign manager), and Amanda Carpenter.

Recall that last July, for some strange reason a Ted Cruz super PAC gave $½ million to Carly Fiorina’s campaign — money that Conservative Outfitters claims was “hush money”. (See my post “Something stinks: Ted Cruz’s Super PAC donated $½ million to Carly Fiorina’s campaign”.) Karl Denninger of Market Ticker says that “if that was ‘hush money’ it may well have been a criminal offense and the FEC is already looking into it…..”

Drew Johnson of the Washington Times confirmed on Twitter Thursday night that two of Ted Cruz’s mistresses named by the National Enquirer are accurate:

Breitbart had the story about Ted Cruz’s affair back in February but did not publish.

Update (March 26, 2016):

The Enquirer has added 3 more women with whom Cruz allegedly had extramarital dalliances. See “Ted Cruz: ‘I have no desire to copulate with Trump’.”

  1. Hi Dr. Eowyn. Always love to read your writing.
This is getting very exciting! I hope this makes slimey Ted crash and burn.
Are you catching Scott Adams’ posts? On persuasion? Really interesting, good writing and good humor.

They would not have to bother digging up all cruz’s salacious exploits, or any other examples of his unsavory character, if they would just acknowledge and declare the truth about his birth circumstance and citizenship status. Just like obama, he is not a natural born any thing, but fraud. And now, his illegal unConstitutional attempt to occupy our white house should label him ineligible for a senate seat. He, like obama, is unfit for any thing.

  4. Ted Cruz is not the only man to have had mistresses. The late Ray Charles had five mistresses. There have been other actors, novelists and politicians who have had mistresses. John F. Kennedy may have had one.
What makes this different is Mr. Cruz’s Oh-So-Holy patina (backed up by some fellow by the name of Glenn Beck). Here is Mr. I-was-inaugurated-a-U.S.-Senator-while-still-a-Canadian-citizen, challenging Mr. Trump to remove the mote from his own eye, while taking a loan from Goldman-Sachs and doing other low-ball things. The hypocrisy: Is it regular or Hi-Test? I am SHOCKED! SHOCKED! You decide.
Well, at least Ted Cruz has not been accused of raping women or molesting altar boys. I would be interested if any of these mistresses have attempted to blackmail him. Of more relevance still, does Cruz have any secret society or George Soros connections?
And we can take real comfort from the fact that National Enquirer is a better newspaper than the New York Times or the New York Daily News. And that’s no sarcasm!

Exactly! Adultery is bad enough, but the hypocrisy and faux piety make it many times worse.

    • Ted Cruz is scary in that he belongs to a cult headed by his father that teaches that Ted is an anointed king that will usher in the return of Jesus and engage in wealth redistribution ( Ted’s father was on the Communist side of the Cuban revolution… So not so ironically he also preaches wealth redistribution through the cult that he is also the preacher. ) . Read up on the Seven Mountains Dominion-ists cult. There is no religious test for POTUS however that doesn’t mean that the voters shouldn’t give Ted Cruz’s beliefs and station in his religion a very good look. :

  6. interesting how rafael’s entire response was directed at trump and not the national enquirer, they actually broke the story….”lyin ted cruz” says he’s innocent….hmmm…..maybe he’s telling the truth this time…maybe not.
I wonder what info does trump have on rafael’s banker wife?

  8. If this is true about Cruz, I wonder if the women are Mexican, Canadian or even Cuban women……..

  9. I’ve had enough of Ted Cruz accusing Trump of creating the riots from those Soros paid rally crashers and now blaming him for The National Enquirer attempting to expose him for extramarital affairs. Ted Cruz, enough of your attacking Trump like this! This is making you look like a fool and the Republican Party looking like a fool. Enough! Enough of the accusations, enough of the name calling. I wish both Trump and Cruz would cease and desist with this immature behavior and be Presidential. Just what exactly do they believe they’re accomplishing? Some might like this as a form of entertainment, but they are not auditioning for a part in a movie. Focus on your stand on the issues and what you’ll do about them.

    • Dear M. Wilk;
First off, welcome to this site!

You wonder why these people cannot “…desist with this immature behavior and be Presidential.” Well, it’s because they long ago lost their way in the forest of life, and live w/o a moral or ethical guide to follow.

The wealth they accrue w/o working for it, or doing productive political or social actions, enables them to feel they are a god on Earth, above our mere sheople selves, who deserve to be fleeced –for our own good, of course!– on our way to the slaughterbench of history. And that’s it! Easy-peasy….

  10. It baffles me no end that in our era of near-instantaneous electronic communications, aspiring politicos continue to be so, so freaking –what can I say?– Stupid? Do they really believe they are Teflon and nothing will stick to them?

Broom Hilda, whose near-infinite capacity to believe all her lies and deceptions is exceeded only by Lucifer, may be the paramount of this public agony, but it never ceases, even from the most seemingly sophiscated ones, people who We the sheople can see through in a heartbeat.

As I wrote 20 years ago, “Cynicism is now the only political realism.” Nuff said!

  12. Ted Cruz sucks, and so do most choices in this election. Especially if you are anything like me… lean more liberal on social issues like gay marriage or marijuana, but hardline conservative on taxes or government. It really sucks, and I will be addressing this issue and more on my new blog The Political Punk Dude. Come check it out if you are like me and don’t fit into either party’s agenda, but want to be involved and have your voice heard

  13. Interesting that I must read all the wrong things as I have heard Trump say more about religion than Cruz. I guess since Cruz is on the same sexual morality as Trump we can select a President based on policies. Now I am in trouble because I cannot remember hearing any consistent policies from Trump. Just build a fence, send back the illegal Mexicans and then bring them back legally. Confuses me.
If true I guess Ted is no more faithful than the other famous Cuban, Ricky Ricardo.

  14. I don’t care for Cruz because IMO he’s just another Establishment type. Regarding his alleged affairs, he’s probably guilty of adultery but the only thing that makes me kinda think he may be innocent of these affairs is the fact that man is butt ugly. Definitely a 3-4 bagger and no self respecting woman would want to see him naked, much less do him.

  16. The woman, whose brother is married to the alleged paramour — who appears on CNN as contributor, said, “It’s true. They were together only a few times.” She added her sister-in-law, “was transfixed by Ted. He has a way of selling ice to an Eskimo.” I asked when the affairs occurred. “Right before Ted’s campaign for Senate,” she said. “They’d get together when Cruz visited DC.” She added, “The whole family knows, everybody knows about this.”
“My brother knows about all this, but still loves her,” the sister-in-law said. “It was a mistake, but everybody makes mistake. Ted Cruz is like Clinton though –he preys on young admiring women.”
“Randy Ted”, as the Enquirer labeled him, is accused of having at least five affairs with multiple women in multiple places, such as closets and bathrooms on campaign buses.

  18. Even sleazy o’le Rafael aka.Teddy needs to get “laid” once in awhile. If he would wash the grease out his hair and get a better fitting suit, he wouldn’t look like a new arrival from the Border areas. This “puppy” has real issues! I don’t vote, but after looking at him, I might be forced to!!!!
