Is the Lord for America or for our enemies?

flaming-sword-large

Let’s see how the Lord answered Joshua on the eve of the battle of Jerico:

“Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand. Joshua went up to him and asked, ‘Are you for us or for our enemies?’

‘Neither,’ he replied, ‘but as commander of the army of the Lord I have now come.’ Then Joshua fell facedown to the ground in reverence, and asked him, ‘What message does my Lord have for his servant?’

The commander of the Lord’s army replied, ‘Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy.’ And Joshua did so.”

– Joshua 5:13-15

This was an appearance of Christ in the Old Testament, a “Christophany.” If you note, this commander did not tell Joshua to stop worshiping him (as a real angel would have said), but instead, told him to take his shoes off because he was on holy ground (…the same thing the Lord had said to Moses from the burning bush). This was Jesus Christ himself before he became a child and entered the world as the Lamb of God. So we have much more than an angel here. We have the highest authority in Heaven and Earth answering Joshua.

Back to the question

Is He with us or with our enemies? The Lord’s answer was “Neither.” He was not guarding Israel’s national interests, but those of the Kingdom of Heaven. If Joshua and the Israelites were in submission to God, then the Captain would be on their side.

Conclusion

If Americans are committed to Christ’s interests, then America will stand. If Americans are not committed to the Lord’s interests, then America will fall.

  1. TD . . . I wish that everyone had the keen understanding upon how to “save America.” It is directly tied to our allegiance to following the Lord and His commandments. Excellent article, we need to be reminded of this principal from time to time.

Auntie, in this idiotic political season, I needed that reminder, too. This was where my bookmark fell on this morning’s reading, and I strongly felt it should be shared of FOTM, for our readers’ encouragement..

  2. Much needed and well stated post. Until America sees its ways and repents and calls on God, He can not help us. He is waiting for our call.

    • Each and Every one of us!!! Daily!! On our knees, in the car, in the shower, cooking dinner, in the line for lunch… “pray unceasingly” as Paul said.

fruitfirst, my answer to your question is “My people who are called by My name.” The Lord is calling for His own people to clean up their act and truly seek Him in repentance. I can also say, I am greatly encouraged to know of many who are really seeking God in this way.

  4. Don’t generalize, putting me in with the politicians. Most politicians, especially those in DC are SATANISTS and God is not for them. I sure hope the Lord is for me, though, not counting the politicians against me.

  5. It never hurts to be reminded what is needed. We are lacking without knowing.
    Thank you.

  6. It is obvious to me that America, as steered by its corrupt elites as it is, does not have Our Lord’s agenda. Given everything going on, it seems to me that America, most regrettably, will fall. But that, in and of itself, does not rule out the repentance of the survivors.

harpertwo, you may be correct. But there are many people with other theories who make a strong assertion they have God’s end time plan figured out, but they all have different plans. Since I became a Christian in the early 1970s, one preacher after another has come along, whipping people into a frenzy with their personal revelation of the end times… and THEY HAVE ALL PROVEN WRONG.

Jesus warned us to avoid trying to figure these things out. Why? Because this pursuit distracts from the real command of God:

“…to seek justice, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God.” – Micah 6:8

  8. A Vision about George Washington and America

    [4 July 2015]

Earlier today I got a ride from Lewiston to Grangeville, Idaho. I walked out of Grangeville about a half mile and this car pulled over to give me a ride. It was an older couple. They knew some friends of mine that lived in the Kooskia neighborhood. They said that they could drop me off at my friends’ place.

As we were driving down the road, the husband told me about a vision that an ex-Muslim had from the Lord. He had been a dyed-in-the-wool Muslim for a number of years and then he surrendered his life to Jesus Christ. He had been in hiding because he had a lot of death threats from his Muslim family.

    Here is the ex-Muslim’s vision:

He saw the Lord in all of His glory. Then he saw George Washington kneeling before the Lord. George Washington was pleading with the Lord and said, “Please don’t let the wicked take over my country [the United States].”

The Lord replied, “I will not let the wicked [unrepentant abortionists, homosexuals, earth worshippers, etc] take over your country, but I will have to destroy it first.”

Romans 1: 24-28: “Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient.”
