10% of college grads believe Judge Judy sits on the Supreme Court

That’s today’s “higher education” for ya…

Judge Judy shakes head rolls eyes

This doesn’t surprise me at all. Today’s college students don’t recognize Reagan.

They spend a lot of time studying issues other than history like sex toy workshops.

They get extra credit for not shaving their armpits.

And they want to abandon traditional applications, transcripts and test scores because they are ‘all about privilege and wealth’.

It’s no wonder they can’t even distinguish between a TV judge and an actual judge on the Supreme Coutr.

Todd Starnes over at Fox News reports that a recent survey showed that nearly ten percent of recent college graduates say that television star Judith Sheindlin is on the Supreme Court.

The American Council of Trustees and Alumni (ACTA) said their survey uncovered a “crisis in American civic education.” The ACTA describes itself as an independent organization committed to academic freedom, excellence and accountability at America’s colleges and universities.

Their findings reveal “that recent college graduates are alarmingly ignorant of America’s history and heritage.”

In it’s reporting on the study, US magazine reports that students could not identify the father of the U.S. Constitution or name one of our First Amendment Rights.

Read the rest of the story here.

As Mr. Starnes put it, “We’ve gone from the Greatest Generation to the stupidest.”

  1. They’re confused with Justice Jenine. Don’t be so critical.
Is this Iowa grads or nationwide?

  2. These are college graduates! God help us.

There’s really no excuse for such ignorance, given the Internet and search engines.

  3. I think that those of the greatest generation who only had an 8th grade education surpassed today’s college educated individuals. If you look at what people studied back then–you will know this is correct. So much for the decline of America. I personally owe much of this to the decline of family values, and the institution of “Unions” for teachers.

    • Our friends/neighbor’s parents attended our church. We were like “family” through many years of vacations, special events, birthdays, religious celebrations. I recorded my neighbor’s father’s WW II story in my OWN family records b/c I didn’t want them to ever disappear. The thing that amazed me the most—-and keeps me contrasting today’s “kids” with that generation is this story: He grew up with his dad, a single parent in Depression Era Oklahoma. Much of the time they ate rattlesnake meat if they were going to have meat at all on their subsistance farm. He left high school in his senior year at just under age 18 to enlist and fought in the Pacific. While he was in “lulls” between battles, trying to survive….his school system sent his senior year school books and course outlines to him, which he dutifully studied in the foxholes of WWII. He finished his high school degree on the front lines of that war. He returned to marry a HS sweetheart (and took his new mother-in-law and some cousins or whatever, WITH THEM on their HONEY MOON :)—-spent at Lake of the Ozarks, fishing.) With the GI Bill, he earned an MS in electrical engineering and was part of the cutting edge of the space industry in Florida, Texas and California.

Fat chance any of today’s HS kids….let alone college kids….could cobble together a valid degree/skills in ANYTHING in a fox hole between World War battles ON THEIR OWN STEAM. Wouldn’t all that violate their “safe space?”

  4. If there is any doubt on the decline of working brains, just go back and watch old clips of Jay Leno’s Man on the Street interviews or the current ones done by Watter’s World, when he goes to college campuses.
Like the good Dr. said, there is no excuse for ignorance.
If people would lay down their phones for two hours a day and pick up a book, the changes we could see.
