SF Gate: The suspect arrested on suspicion of murder in the shooting death of Kate Steinle on San Francisco’s Pier 14 Wednesday had a rap sheet of seven felonies, was deported five times, and in March was released from San Francisco Jail despite immigration authorities asking that he be held, officials said Friday.

The San Francisco Sheriff’s Department, though, has said it will no longer comply with requested immigration holds in many cases, including those based solely on allegations a person is in the country illegally.

On March 26, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers turned 45-year-old Francisco Sanchez over to San Francisco police on an outstanding drug warrant and requested that they be notified before his release, so federal officers could take him into custody.

Sheriff’s deputies, though, released Sanchez without notifying immigration authorities, and Sanchez was released, said Virginia Kice, a spokeswoman for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

On Wednesday morning, Sanchez was arrested about a mile south of Pier 14 in the shooting death of Steinle, 32, a San Francisco woman who was walking with her father and a family friend.

The killing, police said, appeared to be random. Steinle’s father only said “there was a pop” before his daughter collapsed in front of him. He and others immediately began rendering aid to the woman before she was rushed to San Francisco General Hospital where she later died.

From the San Francisco Sheriff’s Department web page:

Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi

Sheriff Ross Mirkarimi

“As Sheriff, Ross remains committed to enhancing public safety in the jails, and in the communities to which ex-offenders return by developing and delivering programs designed to tackle the high recidivism rates. Sheriff Mirkarimi believes in evidence-based reentry programming that addresses stubborn barriers like unemployment, lack of housing, chronic substance abuse, and acute mental illness. “

One would think that the sheriff’s priority would be protecting the public. I guess with five previous deportations and seven felonies, the good sheriff needed more evidence to hold this monster, which could have prevented this tragedy.

  1. And yet, for saying that illegal alien rapists should be deported, Donald Trump is being vilified, boycotted, ostracized, and censored by NBC, Macy’s, et al. Liberalism not only is a mental disorder, it’s a form of PSYCHOSIS, dissociated from reality.

  2. I would say that the good sheriff and the city of San Francisco needs to be sued over this debacle. The perpetrator in this instance needs a very swift trial and a one way ticket to hell.

  3. But but but, we have been told there is no problem with illegals committing serious crimes against US citizens. What a load of crock. Last count in the last year or so, someone wrote that almost 200 violent crimes have been committed here. But, not to worry, no problem.
BTW, the Sheriff is an idiot and should be tossed out on his pathetic bum.

  4. I vote for vigilante justice in this case.

    • It’s be a real shame if this fine, upstanding non-Citizen was to “fall” down a flight of concrete stairs, several times,in the process of his “apprehension” for this “non-crime”.

  5. The sheriff that is playing God with the lives of his community guessed wrong. His granting of amnesty by releasing any and all illegal immigrants is dereliction of duty to serve and protect. This murder is the direct responsibility of the sheriff.

    • The woman’s FAMILY should sue THIS imposter-of-a-Sheriff for everything he ever even HOPES to own,for knowingly putting this FELON on the street to KILL.

  7. It’s time to turn the tables. Those who don’t uphold our Constitution, Bill of Rights and laws are the traitors and true “terrorists.” As their Godless and demented ideologies escape through their mouths and the written word, we know who they are.

And we wonder why anyone would say anything bad about illegal immigration!

  9. Reblogged this on and commented:
let’s VOTE in 2016 to END this insanity the Democrat party has been cramming down our throats !

  10. Richard Raymond

Trump was right but should have added a big qualification to his statement.
Many hispanics are legal citizens and law abiding just like every other group, and contribute to the country.
No need to unfairly alienate the majority!
And no we don’t need vigilante justice. That is exactly what the powers that shouldn’t be want, a race war, then we all lose, except the corrupt in power who are looking for an excuse to take complete control.
Actually they are the ones destroying the borders and America’s sovereignty.

    • You’re right about that,Richard-the LAST thing America needs is vigilante-ism,as tempting as it may be. What better excuse for the Dictator-in-Chief to shut down the Elections, declare National Martial Law and officially make America a Dictatorship than a loss of the power of the Law Enforcement Officers to the “vigilante forces”?

  11. Wow. Stay out of San Francisco! *shakes head*
