Obama in Mumbai to Cost Taxpayers $200 Million a Day

Tomorrow, King Louis 14th Obama and Queen Michelle Antoinette depart on a 9-day 4-nation luxury trip to Asia. Their first stop is Mumbai, India.

At a time of America’s protracted economic troubles of 10% unemployment, $14 trillion national debt, 1 of 8 Americans on food stamps, Obama will be spending $200 MILLION a day in just MumbaiThe Press Trust of India reports on November 02, 2010:

Mumbai – The US would be spending a whopping $200 million per day on President Barack Obama’s visit to the city. “The huge amount of around $200 million would be spent on security, stay and other aspects of the Presidential visit,” a top official of the Maharashtra Government privy to the arrangements for the high-profile visit said.

About 3,000 people including Secret Service agents, US government officials and journalists would accompany the President. Several officials from the White House and US security agencies are already here for the past one week with helicopters, a ship and high-end security instruments.

Obama has booked this ENTIRE hotel, the Taj Mahal.

The Obama Administration has reserved an entire five-story hotel, as well as several hundred hotel rooms in other five-star hotels, in Mumbai. The Economic Times reports on October 23, 2010 that, to ensure “security,” Obama’s team has booked the following:

  • The entire Taj Mahal Hotel, including 570 rooms, all banquets and restaurants.
  • 125 rooms at another hotel, the Taj President, for Obama’s security contingent and staff.
  • 80 to 90 rooms each in Grand Hyatt and The Oberoi hotels.
  • The NCPA, where Obama will meet representatives from India’s  business community.

To transport the 3,000 people accompanying King and Queen Obama requires Air Force One and two jumbo jets, which will be flanked by security jets. There will be 30 to 40 secret service agents, who will arrive before King Obama. His convoy will consist of 45 cars, including the fortified Lincoln Continental in which King Obama travels.

Since Obama will stay in a hotel that is on sea front, elaborate coastal security arrangements have been made by the US Navy in consonance with the Indian Navy and the Coast Guard. US naval ships, along with Indian vessels, will patroll the sea, “to negate the possibility of a missile being fired from a distance.” Update: The US Navy fleet protecting Obama will consist of 34 warships.

King Obama will be accompanied by his chefs to ensure his food is not spiked.

Among those along for the Obama Junket are some 200 CEOs of various businesses, such as Pepsico’s India-born CEO Indra Nooyi, and Honeywell CEO David M Cote, who co-chairs the India-US CEO Forum with India’s Tata group chairman Ratan Tata.

Exactly what beleaguered American workers need: more “outsourcing” of jobs to India!!!

H/t beloved fellows Tina, FS, & PatriotAngel.

Based on the timing and expense of this trip, I can only surmise that it is designed to rub America’s collective nose in it. “Not going to support me or my agenda, eh? Well here is what I think of your lack of support…” He HAS to know what a slap in the face this sort of expense is at this time.

It is almost as if he knows he cannot remain in office for much longer, so he is publicly looting the wealth of this country while he still can via a totally unnecessary excursion. This is the way that dictators behave, not US presidents.

I really disliked Bill Clinton while he was in office. However today, I would easily take slick Willie, or even Hillary, over this buffoon at this point.

I wish we could get rid of this arrogant, pompous Marxist now, rather than having to wait another two years!

  3. I have just had an epiphany about this trip to Mumbai, and you can file this under “C” for conspiracy if you like, but hear me out.

Obama knows that the bottom is falling out of his presidency, his popularity is falling like a rock and after the midterm elections the American people have decisively rejected his agenda.

Now we know that Obama is a narcissist, in other words the only one he really cares about is himself and I believe that he would be more than willing to put the people around him in mortal danger. I really belive that there will be an attempt on his life there and I also believe he is counting on it happening, but I did say “attempt”, I’m sure he will survive but several in his entourage will not including brave Secret Service agents that will sacrifice their lives to protect him.

Now you maybe asking why he would do this, the answer is complex, but first of all he see this as an opportunity to regain his popularity and have the world see him as tough, a survivor. But this will also give him the inroads to his New World Order to push for disarmament especially since India is one of few countries with a nuclear weapon stockpile.

I don’t like the man, I don’t respect him but at the same time I do respect the office and I especially respect the men and women who protect him daily and would not want any of them sacrificed due to a foolish endeavor to another country rife with terrorism.

I sincerely hope I’m wrong about all of this, but at the same time I can’t ignore the feeling that this trip could be a sinister attempt by a sitting president to usher in a period of unparalleled globalism that could squash freedom around the world.

  4. I haven’t tried yet, but I will soon

  5. [here is what i spotted while computering!!]

Here are some Bible verses that Pres. Obama avoids:
Proverbs 19:10 (NIV): “It is not fitting for a fool to live in luxury – how much worse for a slave to rule over princes!”
Also Proverbs 30:22 (NIV) which says that the earth cannot bear up under “a servant who becomes king.”
And Ecclesiastes 5:2-3 (KJV) advises: “let thy words be few…a fool’s voice is known by multitude of words.”
Although Obama is not descended from slaves, he may feel that he’s destined to become a black-slavery avenger.
Or maybe an enslaver of all free citizens!

  6. Friends,

I also have a sense of unease and foreboding about The Fraud’s Asia junket. The accompanying contingent & retinue are just too HUGE for any rational explanation.

I try not to do alarmist posts on the Fellowship, but the Web-bot project of Clif High and George Ure is predicting something MAJOR — much bigger than 9-11 — to hit in the early part of November, beginning around Nov. 8. The “event(s)” will be so calamitous it’ll shut down global communications and the net.

    We can only pray….

UPDATE: Clif High has revised the tipping point for “the event” to November 14, 6:50 am, Pacific time. Yikes.

    • OK the cost of this is unbelivable!!! I hope you two are wrong and an attack doesn’t happen… But if the Secret Service thought it would be so dangerous why is he going? What is the official business?

      • Debbie,

The official business of Obama’s 9-day 4-nation $200-million-a-day to Asia is ostensibly trade — to increase US-Asia trade and thereby “create” more American jobs. Do I believe it? No. Do I think trade will increase? Yes — but mainly to Asia’s advantage, EXCEPT for US arms sales. Do I think more American jobs will result? No. On the contrary, even more American jobs will be “outsourced.”

The trip may be good for some “American” businesses, but not necessarily for American workers. These corporations are multi- and inter-national in scope and outlook. They are not American nationalists or patriots. Hollywood is a good example: Increasingly, earnings from movies are from the overseas market. Movie-makers & actors therefore are not American nationalists but are “globalists” because they owe their paychecks to the global market.

That was Christopher Lasch’s thesis in his book, The Revolt of the Elites and the Betrayal of Democracy. Lasch was ahead of the curve. How I miss him.

        • Thanks Eowyn.

Hmmm, goal is to create jobs? How about he stay in DC, extend Bush tax cuts & quit fiddlin w/ private sector? Cost to taxpayers would be much less than $200m per day!!

          • Debbie, I can always count on you to point out illogic and the common good sense staring in our faces!

Indeed, if creating jobs were Obama’s goal, he can just stay home, reduce taxes, and move the intrusive Nanny/BigBrother state out of the way. It’s also stupid to spend $200 million a day on a 9-day trip (totalling nearly $2 BILLION) to “create jobs.” Whatever jobs that are “created” are already cancelled out by the $2 billion spent on “creating” the jobs! A staggeringly cost inefficient way to increase trade and create jobs!

    • I have read theories on several blogs that there may be a masssive terror attack here while BO’s away. Pray that they are wrong.

  7. Have had the same unsettled feelings-but there is NOTHING the “FRAUD” could say or do to justify this expensive trip. It is total nonsense. I do not trust him. We need media more than ever,to cover this and his every move. But,we all know there is no media, even Fox treads lightly.

Although it isn’t reported much in this country, there is some fairly significant friction brewing between China and the US. China has become increasingly aggressive in their attempts to finalize the acquisition of barrier islands and disputed boundary territories.

The US has recently pointed out that in a dispute between China and Japan over some disputed islands that the US is in a position to protect Japan’s interests there as a part of the treaty signed at the end of WWII. China has indicated that it would be very bad for the US to attempt to insert itself into this disagreement.

Additionally, China has become increasingly angry at the US policy of “monetary easing” (i.e. printing money in an attempt to stimulate inflation). China calls this activity risky and irresponsible.

I cannot help but notice that India would be the ideal neutral territory to host an emergency summit between the US and China. If something of this magnitude were happening, wouldn’t we know about it by now?

I am probably wrong. If Obama were heading off to confront the Chinese, I would think he would have been very vocal about it ahead of time. But considering the size of the presidential entourage as well as the military flotilla, I would not be terribly surprised to find out that something like this between the US and China might be brewing.

    • Dave,

I’ve been closely following the situation with China. Chinese politics was/is one of my areas of expertise as a prof. As its power grows, China increasingly is exerting itself, esp. its irredentist claims to “lost” territories — lost to China after the disastrous 1840-42 Opium War with Britain, which began what became China’s last dynasty’s and the Chinese Empire’s precipitous fall. Today’s China is 3/4 the size of dynastic China on the eve of the Opium War.

Having said all that, if I’m sure of one thing about Obama, it is that Obama is not “heading off to confront the Chinese.” That is not in this man’s character or moxy.

      • Dave from Atlanta

Nice to know you have a specialty in this area. I do not, but am very concerned about the current state of US/China relations.

I looked at the “tipping point” data that you linked to but found it somewhat ethereal in nature. I suppose it is intended to be less-than-specific.

        • Dave, what “tipping point” data?

          • Dave from Atlanta

Something talked about on George Ure’s site. Predictive linguistics or something like that.

            • Ah, the Web-bot predictive linguistics (WBPL). I purchased one of their Web-bot reports in 2008; didn’t think much of it. I’m dubious about the premise of the web-bot: That one can glean from Internet chatter, i.e., the prevalence of certain words and themes, what will happen in the future. It’s sort of the Internet version of Carl Jung’s “collective unconscious.”

I can, maybe, see that on matters pertaining to the concerns, fears, and hopes of people, some pattern would emerge in terms of aggregates — i.e., that many people are talking about certain things (X, Y, Z) on the net. Where I have real problems with are at least 3 aspects of WBPL:

              1. That large numbers of people express certain similar concerns/beliefs/values/fears/hopes is NOT necessarily predictive of the future. It’s the same operative logic as in political polling. Polls are simply portraits of a population at a particular point in time, e.g., their approval/disapproval of Obama. Polls are like a painting or a photograph — they tell you what is true at the time when the poll is taken. The assumption is that people will behave, e.g., vote, in accordance with what they tell the pollster. The pollster extrapolates and projects from the results of the poll (the portrait frozen in time) to a prediction about how people will behave in the future. The closer a poll is to election day, the likelier that the poll is predictive of the actual vote because there is little time for people to drastically change their attitudes and professed intention between the poll and their voting. But polls themselves don’t predict, just as a photograph of me taken this minute doesn’t predict what I will look like tonight, tomorrow, next week, or next year. I can change my clothes; or I cut my hair; or something happens to me to alter my appearance.

So it is with the WBPL. Expressions by many people on the Internet about their fear of a martial law does not mean (predict) that martial law indeed will be imposed.

              2. Even more problematic is the WBPL’s claim to anticipate some future natural disaster, e.g., earthquake. How can the Collective Unconscious somehow know about a future calamity of nature? It is here that WBPL becomes downright metaphysical. The only way this could work is that on some collective level, human beings somehow know the future. There is no evidence of that.

And so I take the WBPL with a big grain of salt. Interesting, but I just don’t believe in WBPL’s underlying premises.

              3. Yet another problem is WBPL’s language vagueness and temporal nonspecifity. If some natural disaster, e.g., earthquake, which was predicted to occur did not happen, the WBPL “creators” can simply — and they do — say “I didn’t mean earthquake, I meant a hurricane”; or that the temporal window is only a guess-timate. In other words, there are many ways for the project creators to wiggle out. They even admit “Hey, it’s not perfect!” The result is that WBPL predictions cannot, or can only rarely, be falsified, which flunks the most fundamental rule of empirical science — the principle of falsifiability.

Y’all don’t feel badly about this. Our chief idiot just blew more than a BILLION Canuck bucks on the waste of time known as the G20 Summit, at which nothing was accomplished other than showing the rest of the world that Canada is just as foolish as any other nation. I’m sure our seniors and veterans are especially pleased about it all.
