Are You Smarter Than the Average College Professor?

Two weeks ago, you took Pew’s “Are you smarter than the average American” political IQ quiz.

The regulars of FellowshipOfMinds did spectacularly well, demonstrating you really are a cut above most Americans. But then that’s not surprising because Pew then published the results of its phone quiz of a representative sample of Americans and found that Republicans and Independents really are smarter and more knowledgeable than Democrats. LOL

Here’s another political IQ quiz for you to take. This time it’s a much tougher quiz on civic literacy, devised by the Intercollegiate Studies Institute.

The average score for all 2,508 Americans who took the test was 49%; college educators scored 55%, which doesn’t say much for college profs. Can you do better? Questions were drawn from past ISI surveys, as well as other nationally recognized exams.

After you’ve taken the quiz, do come back and report on your score, okay? But no cheating! LOL

  1. 21 out of 33, 63.64%. (better than the educators, LOL)
I knew the ones I got right and guessed wrong on the ones I didn’t know. I feel good about it after seeing how the elected officials did. Go to the “Table” link to see. The elected officials did poorer than the public on all but the last 4 questions.

  2. 23 out of 33 – 69.7%…almost passing! Pretty good considering some of that stuff I completely forgot about so had to guess.

Pathetic how elected officials did. This should be a mandatory test in high school…

  3. This high school dropout scored 90.91%–missed three! #4, #7, and #33.

Hah!! Take THAT, you puffed up liberal profs!

    • Wow! That’s most impressive, harry! 😉

Take that, all you pinhead elitist snobs! LOL

Goes to show the Founding Fathers were right to place their confidence in the intelligence and wisdom of “common” people.

      P.S. I also got #33 wrong.

  4. I got 26 of 33. Steve and I must have the same brain waves.

  5. Scored 78.9–however, when I reviewed my test, 2 were mis-answered because I screwed up and the answer channged when I scrolled down.. my stupidity.

  6. You answered 24 out of 33 correctly — 72.73 %

History and Political Science was never my forte.

  7. Steve: I always knew I had a brother, I just didn’t find you until today. 🙂

  8. HuffPo would probably claim the test is raaaaaaaacist (like New Haven firefighters test results)…

  9. I got 10 of 11 questions right. It was a pretty easy quiz. I watch a lot of CNN since I’m self-employed and work at home.

BTW: Obama is a great president and I’m going to vote for him again in 2012. Oh, and Mark Dayton for governor of Minnesota in 2010:)

I just stumbled upon this blog because I’m going to be taking web design classes at the local CC this fall and I have a feeling that my professors are going to be teaching outdated techniques. I’ve been doing web design for the past 5 years but don’t have a formal degree in it, which is why I’m taking classes. I’m afraid that I’m going to be smarter than my professors. I searched “smarter than my professor” in Google and this site popped up. I’m not conservative as you can probably tell by my statement above. Anyways, it was a fun quiz. Thanks for sharing it!

  10. Ally,

I just hope for your sake that there will even be an election held in November of 2012, as it appears you are absolutely clueless as to how close we truly are to losing our republic.

    No shit.

  11. 25/33 or a 75.7%. I don’t know how to feel about this lol
