Amidst great evil, Sandy Hook teachers save children’s lives

On Friday afternoon, I heard an expert on the psychology of mass murderers like Adam Lanza interviewed on the Mark Levin radio show. John Lot said shooters like Lanza are bent on committing suicide. What distinguishes them from other suicides is their grandiosity — they want to go out in a blaze, taking as many innocent lives with them as they can, because they want to make a name for themselves, albeit in the most perverse way. But their names will be emblazoned in the media and in our consciousness nevertheless.

We need to stop finding excuses — Lanza had Asperger Syndrome! — to minimize their deeds. We need to call these mass murderers what they are: EVIL.

But sure enough, evil men like Adam Lanza do succeed in their malignant quest for publicity. What these evil men do is so unthinkably horrible, we can’t help but want to find out who they are. Who is Adam Lanza? Why did he kill 26 innocent lives in Sandy Hook Elementary School, including 20 first-grade little children whose lives had barely begun? What rage can possibly account for him shooting all his victims execution-style and shooting each precious 6-year-old child ELEVEN times?

The way we can thwart these evil bastards from the publicity they seek is to focus on the Good and the Light.

Here are examples of the Good and the Light, in the midst of great evil that terrible day in Newtown, Connecticut.

Sandy Hook 1st graders learn about the three As of concert behavior: attention, appreciation, and applauseMaryrose Kristopik teaches a group of first graders about the three As of concert behavior: attention, appreciation, and applause

Daniel Bates reports for the Daily Mail, Dec. 14, 2012, that during the shooting at Sandy Hook, music teacher Maryrose Kristopik had the presence of mind to gather her students, ages 8-10, into a closet. She kept the children quiet by praying with them and assuring them “I love you,” and so saved 20 precious lives.

In an exclusive interview with MailOnline, Kristopik said she barricaded herself into a closet with her students while killer Adam Lanza battered on the door screaming: “Let me in! Let me in!” Only when the shots, which had been ringing out, had died down did she lead her students outside to safety.

Mrs Kristopik said: “I did take the children into the closet and talked with them to keep them quiet. I told them that I loved them. I said there was a bad person in the school. I didn’t want to tell them anything past that.”

Kristopik said there were 20 kids in the closet and there wasn’t enough space for them. One door had several instruments, including big xylophones, blocking it. But Kristopik stood in front of the other door and held the handle to keep the children out of harm’s way.

She said, “I was just trying to be as strong as possible. I was thinking about the children. I told them that we had to keep quiet and we were hiding and nobody knew we were there. Of course I was afraid too. I wanted them to be quiet, I thought it was a pretty secure out of the way place.”

Maryrose Kristopik rightly is hailed a “hero” by parents.

An unnamed mother, in her 40s, whose nine-year-old son was among the children said: “I want to thank her. She saved their lives. The shooter kept banging on the door screaming: ‘Let me in! Let me in!’ but he didn’t get in. Now I have to explain to my nine-year-old son that his friends won’t be coming back. How am I supposed to do that?”

Brenda Lebinski said her eight-year-old daughter is safe thanks to the teacher’s decision to move all kids into a closet when Lanza had entered the building. “My daughter’s teacher is my hero,” Lebinski said. “She locked all the kids in a closet and that saved their lives.”

Asked about the incident itself, Mrs Kristopik denied that she was a hero: “I called the police, I dialed 911 and they said they had reports of shots in the school, so that’s when I had to tell the kids there was a bad person there because I didn’t want them to talk. I did what any other teacher would have done and I know there were others like me doing the same. They were doing whatever they could. They were my fourth graders. We held hands, we hugged and I just tried to talk to them a little. We also said some prayers and one of the children said we should say a prayer, and we did.”

There were other heroes at Sandy Hook.

One of them is the school’s principal Dawn Hochsprung, who reportedly tried to shield students from Lanza with her body before she was gunned down.

This picture was recently taken of an assembly at Sandy Hook elementary, with hero music teacher Maryrose Kristopik conducting the choir This picture of hero music teacher Maryrose Kristopik conducting the choir at assembly was taken Wednesday and tweeted by murdered principal Dawn Hochsprung

Another hero teacher was Kaitlin Roig, who barricaded her first grade students in the classroom’s bathroom and locked the door when she first heard gunshots.

Roig said, “The kids were being so good. They asked ‘Can we go see if anyone is out there?’, ‘I just want Christmas”, ‘I don’t want to die, I just want to have Christmas.’ I said, ‘You’re going to have Christmas and Hanukkah… I tried to be positive’.”

Another teacher (name unknown), according to Richard Wilford’s seven-year-old son, went out of the second-grade classroom to check on the (gun) noise, came back in, locked the door and had the kids huddle up in the corner until police arrived. “There’s no words,” Wilford said. “It’s sheer terror, a sense of imminent danger, to get to your child and be there to protect him.”

Melissa Makris’s 10-year-old son, Philip, was in the school gym and “heard a lot of loud noises and then screaming.” His gym teachers immediately gathered the children and kept them safe in a corner. The students stayed huddled until police came in the gym and helped them get out of the building, telling the kids to run.

light in darkness

God bless all these wonderful teachers — candles in the darkness — who, as Hell broke loose and unleashed its demons, had the courage and presence of mind to secure the safety of their little charges.

Sheriff Arpaio’s Obama findings ignored by most media

On March 1, 2012, something extraordinary took place in America.

An elected county sheriff held a press conference to present the findings of a 6-month investigation into the murky background of a sitting U.S. president.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio at the March 1 press conference

The sheriff is Joe Arpaio of Arizona’s Maricopa County. He did not undertake the investigation at his own initiative but was formally asked to do so by 250 members of an Arizona Tea Party group. The investigation was conducted by an all-volunteer team, the Cold Posse, comprised of former law enforcement officers and lawyers with law enforcement experience. The posse interviewed dozens of witnesses, examined hundreds of documents, and took numerous sworn statements from witnesses around the world.

The investigators concluded that the online image of Obama’s purported long-form birth certificate and his Selective Service registration likely are forgeries. As lead investigator Mike Zullo put it:

“Absent the authentic Hawaii Department of Health 1961 birth records for Barack Obama, there is no other credible proof supporting the idea or belief that President Barack Obama was born in Hawaii, as he and the White House have consistently asserted. In fact, absent the authentication of Hawaii Department of Health 1961 birth records for Barack Obama, there is no other proof he was born anywhere within the United States.”

One would think that’s bombshell news that the media, whether they like it or not, would be sure to cover and report.

Not so.

As you can see from this pic taken at the press conference, media presence was sparse:

So did the media report on the press conference?

GiveUsLiberty tells us how the national media responded to the “planet’s biggest news story”:

  • Fox News TV – Silence
  • NBC – Silence
  • CBS – Silence
  • NYT – Silence

These media did cover the press conference:

CBS 5 KPHO, a CBS affiliate in Phoenix, AZ, did report on Arpaio’s press conference on the day of the conference:

The mainstream media’s refusal to report on the press conference can be explained by American journalists being overwhelmingly liberal or Democrat, as evidenced by study after study since the 1981 ground-breaking study by Robert Lichter and Stanley Rothman which found that 81 percent of the journalists interviewed voted for the Democratic presidential candidate in every election between 1964 and 1976.

But the media’s liberal bias does not explain why the press conference is ignored by even the major non-liberal talk show hosts Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, and Glenn Beck.

I went onto conservative Rush Limbaugh‘s website and typed “Arpaio” in the Search bar. The most recent reference Rush made to Arpaio was on February 22, 2012 — more than a week before the press conference. In other words, Rush completely ignored Sheriff Arpaio’s press conference.

I also went searching for “Arpaio” on conservative Sean Hannity‘s website. Hannity’s most recent reference to Arpaio was on November 29, 2011.

I did the same thing on conservative Mark Levin‘s website. Levin’s most recent reference to Arpaio was on December 16, 2011.

In the case of libertarian Glenn Beck, he did something even worse than ignoring Arpaio’s press conference – Beck treated the sheriff’s investigation with derision, calling Obama’s eligibility a “ridiculous” issue. This is what Beck said on his radio show of March 2, 2012:

“Just when Obama was starting to run out of things to say about Republicans, Sheriff Joe Arpaio decides to come out and launch a big investigation into Barack Obama’s birth certificate. Why he decided to bring this ridiculous issue, one that only gives Obama an opportunity to call the right (justifiably so, in this case) ‘crazy’ – is beyond explanation. But, he’s doing it anyway.”

With friends like Beck, Limbaugh, Hannity, and Levin, who needs enemies? Americans who care about the integrity of the Constitution’s stipulation that only a “natural born citizen” can be the President of the United States of America truly are political orphans.

Obamacare’s Neurosurgical Death Panel for Americans 70 and over?

Yes, Virginia. There really are Obamacare death panels.

In 2009, in the lead up to the Democrat-controlled Congress’ approval of Obamacare, aka the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) , Sarah Palin was ridiculed by the media for her warning that the bill’s passage would mean the imposition of “death panels” on Americans.

It turns out she was right.

On November 22, 2011, a neurosurgeon who calls himself “Jeff from Chicago, Illinois” called into Mark Levin’s radio show with startling information. Under Obamacare, patients who are 70 years old or older are to only receive “comfort care” instead of neurosurgery.

This is what Jeff said:

He had just returned from a seminar in Washington, D.C., (I believe Jeff was referring to the annual meeting of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, held in Washington, D.C., October 1-6, 2011), wherein he and other neurosurgeons were provided a document by HHS (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services) on what Obama’s health care (PPACA) means for neuro-patients aged 70 and over. The document is Obama’s new Health Care Plan for Advanced Neurosurgical Care, in which patients are now depersonalized by being called “units”.

In Jeff’s words: “If you’re over 70 and come into Emergency Care for neurological reasons,” e.g., a brain aneurysm or bleeding in their brain, and you’ve covered by Obamacare, “advanced neurosurgical care is generally not indicated” — you get just “comfort care.”

The decision to undertake neurosurgery or not will be made by an Ethics Panel, comprised not of neurosurgeons but of administrators with no medical training. The withholding of neurosurgery to older patients units is prompted by two factors:

  1. Neurosurgery is the smallest field in medicine.
  2. Neurosurgery is the most expensive of all surgeries.

This information presently is not published somewhere for citizens such as you and I to get hold of and read, but is discussed only within the neurosurgeons community — the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons. Mark Levin remarked that this information likely will be made available to the public after the November 2012 elections.

Help make this “neurosurgical death panel” go viral. Send this post to your e-mail list and post it to your Facebook page!

H/t my dear friend Barbara.

UPDATE:

The American Association of Neurological Surgeons has issued a statement disavowing Jeff’s claim that there is such a document denying advanced neurosurgery for patients over 70 years old. Here’s the statement, but note the carefully parsed language: “The AANS and CNS are unaware of…”):

Neurosurgeons Condemn False Assertions Made About Health Reform Law on Mark Levin Show Refute Statements that the Law Would Ration Neurosurgical Care for the Elderly

Washington, DC – On November 22, 2011, an individual claiming to be a “brain surgeon” made several statements referencing neurosurgical care on a Mark Levin radio show segment. The American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS) and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS) reviewed this segment and found that it contained several factual inaccuracies which we wish to clarify.

The AANS and CNS are unaware of any federal government document directing that advanced neurosurgery for patients over 70 years of age will not be indicated and only supportive care treatment will be provided. Furthermore, in conducting our own due diligence, the caller who identified himself as a brain surgeon is not actually a neurosurgeon, nor was there any session at the recent Congress of Neurological Surgeons’ scientific meeting in Washington, DC at which a purported government document calling for the rationing of neurosurgical care was discussed.

Neurosurgeons are committed to providing timely, compassionate, and state of the art treatment for all patients — regardless of age — who have neurosurgical conditions. As such, we have requested numerous times that this podcast be removed from Mark Levin’s website as it portrays inaccurate information which could potentially be harmful to the patients that we serve.

Notwithstanding the AANS/CNS denial, the plain truth is that for cost-effective reasons (health care costs mount in our older years), all government-run health care systems — euphemistically sugar-coatedly called “single-payer” — necessarily entail medical rationing, otherwise called death panels. There are two examples in America already: Arizona and Oregon.

As recounted by Wesley Smith for The Weekly Standard, Jan. 31, 2011, the Arizona legislature cut its Medicaid budget because the state is in dire financial straits—a move approved by the Obama administration. The cuts led to canceling Medicaid coverage for organ transplant surgeries, and the death of a potential organ recipient.

Then, there is “Oregon, a decidedly liberal state…. In 1993, the Clinton administration gave permission to the Oregon Health Plan, the state’s Medicaid program, to introduce rationing. The system involves a treatment schedule that lists 649 potentially covered procedures. The state pegs the number of procedures the state will cover to the available funds. Patients requiring procedures above the cutoff line are out of luck. As of October 2010, only the first 502 treatments were covered. But even that low number doesn’t tell the full story of rationing in Oregon. The Oregon Health Plan also rations covered procedures under certain circumstances. Chemotherapy, for instance, is not provided if it is deemed to have a 5 percent or less chance of extending the patient’s life for five years, meaning that a patient whose life might be extended a year or two with chemo may not receive it.”

Smith reminds us that both the Arizona and Oregon examples “resulted from a single-payer health care system crashing into a budgetary brick wall. The real lesson here is that ‘single payer’ and ‘death panels’ go together like ‘See’s’ and ‘candy.’”

And so, despite the AANS/CNS’s statement of denial, anyone with an average IQ knows that Obamacare does/will have rationing, which is another word for death panels.

Alec Baldwin to Replace Keith Olbermann?

NewsMax.com is reporting this morning that NBC executives are considering leftist Hollywood actor Alec Baldwin to replace Keith Olbermann as host of its MSNBC show “Countdown,” according to Popeater.com’s Rob Shuter.

Last Friday, Olbermann surprised the measly 1.1 million viewers of his MSNBC political propaganda show “Countdown” that it would be his last appearance he was fired.

Way to go, NBC! What a brilliant move to pick someone who’s even more bat-crazy-leftwing, more foul-mouthed, more hot-tempered, more thin-skinned than Bathtub Boy Keith. Unless, of course, what NBC wants is to revive the old carnival “bearded lady” freak show of yesteryear. I suggest NBC take a good look at what happened when Baldwin was last on radio. It was not a pretty sight.

Oh, and let’s not forget this:

From NewsMax.com, Alec Baldwin v. Sean Hannity in Radio Donnybrook,” March 26, 2006:

Hollywood liberal Alec Baldwin stormed out of an in-studio radio interview Sunday night after he was confronted on the phone by radio hosts Sean Hannity and Mark Levin.

Baldwin was 30 minutes into a planned two-hour-plus sitdown with WABC Radio’s Brian Whitman when Hannity called in.

The fireworks commenced almost immediately.

HANNITY: Alec, I wanted to give you an official WABC welcome considering you were supposed to come on my program last week and you didn’t show up. What happened?

BALDWIN: No, I wasn’t supposed to come on your program, Sean Hannity.HANNITY: No, actually you were supposed to come on the program because a deal was made with your agent that if you were going to come on with Brian, first you’d come on with me.BALDWIN: I wouldn’t dream of coming on your program, Sean Hannity. I’m here with Brian. I’m here with a really talented broadcaster.HANNITY: [Crosstalk] that you are, you don’t tell the truth.BALDWIN: Why would I want to come on the show with a no-talent, former construction worker hack like you?HANNITY: Are you the guy that said of our vice president, while we’re at war, while we’re leading troops in harm’s way – are you the reckless, third-rate Hollywood actor who said that Dick Cheney is a terrorist? Are you the guy . . .BALDWIN: Yes I am.HANNITY: … who said to stone Henry Hyde to death? Are you the guy who said our president is a CIA mass murderer? I wanted you to come on the program and defend that, you gutless coward.BALDWIN: At first I thought this was a joke. But you can hear all the acid venom spewing hatred. It is Sean Hannity. [END EXCERPT]The exchange got even hotter when Mark Levin joined in.LEVIN: We’ve only just begun – are you 40 or 50 pounds overweight now?WHITMAN: Oh, C’mon now . . . .HANNITY: Once and for all you need to be challenged. You want to call our vice president a terrorist – fine. You want to talk about stoning people to death, say it on my program. If you want to be irresponsible and call our president a mass murderer while he’s at war leading troops in harm’s way …BALDWIN: And what are you gonna do about it, Sean Hannity?HANNITY: You don’t have the courage to answer questions.BALDWIN: And what are you gonna do? And what are you going to do about it, Sean Hannity. If I come on your program, what are you going to do?LEVIN: He’s going to show that you have a two digit IQ – that’s what he’s gonna do.BALWIN: What are you going to do?LEVIN: I just told you – you’ve got a two digit IQ.BALDWIN: And who’s that – who’s your little cabin boy there with you.LEVIN: I’m not a cabin boy, butt-boy.BALDWIN: What are you doing there, cabin boy? … I now dub you Sean Hannity’s cabin boy.LEVIN: And you know what you are? You’re “Brokeback” Alec. [END EXCERPT]The confrontation continued to spiral out of control, with Whitman intermittently trying to make peace and Baldwin repeatedly urging him to move on to other callers.BALDWIN: Listen, Sean – you incredibly ignorant boob from Long Island …HANNITY: Oh, ouch, Alec.BALDWIN: No, no, no, you’ve spoken, let me talk, Sean. Cause you’ve been spewing your …HANNITY: You’re a third-rate Hollywood egomaniac.BALDWIN: You’re a no-talent, ignorant fool from Long Island. You should go back to building houses in Hempstead.LEVIN: Why was your [former] wife [Kim Basinger] so pissed off at you, anyway?WHITMAN: Now, c’mon guys.BALDWIN: OK. We’re done. [Gets up and leaves the studio]WHITMAN: Come back. Come back. Alec? They’re gone. Alec? Alec has walked out of the studio. Alec, please come back.
