Global Warming Cultists Rescued

Still image taken from video shows rescue workers making their way from a helicopter to Russian ship Akademik Shokalskiy, which has been trapped in Antarctic ice since Christmas Eve, in East Antarctica

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority’s (AMSA) Rescue Coordination Centre, supervising the rescue, said early Thursday that rescue flights would likely begin soon.

As National Geographic admitted, the mission of the scientists on board was to prove the validity of global warming by comparing the evidence they found with evidence from Australian explorer Douglas Mawson’s 1911 to 1913 voyage to Antarctica. National Geographic wrote:

The current crop of explorers are hoping to document some of the same data and compare them to Mawson’s numbers, “using the twist of modern technology,” Turney told National Geographic earlier this month. As may be expected, global warming might play a role in this, he suggests, particularly with respect to melted ice in the East Antarctic.

The irony of a ship meant to document the validity of global warming getting trapped by the undiminishing ice of Antarctica is obvious.

Three icebreaking ships attempted to break through the ice: the Australian icebreaker Aurora Australis, the Chinese-flagged vessel Snow Dragon, and France’s L’Astrolabe. The Snow Dragon’s helicopter on board is planning to rescue 52 scientists and tourists, a dozen at a time, over a five-hour time period. The trapped ship’s 22 crew members will stay with the ship, as there is no danger of its sinking and plenty of food for the duration.

Chris Turney, the leader of the trapped expedition, had claimed that the ice shelf of Antarctica was shrinking for some time; even after the ship was trapped in the ice, Fox News reported Turney “…remained adamant that sea ice is melting, even as the boat remained trapped in frozen seas.”

There are some problems with Turney’s scenario. NASA’s satellites have measured global temperatures for 35 years, including in the Antarctic, and found that the southern polar region temperatures have cooled -0.04°C/century. Not only that, but the Antarctic sea ice has grown to a record total.

The Alfred Wegener Institute (AWI) issued a press release that indicated “sea ice in the Southern Ocean has reached the highest extent in the last decades. It was only in the mid-1970s that a similar sea ice extent had been observed.” The Cryosphere released a paper stating that Antarctica has been gaining surface ice and snow accumulation for the last 150+ years.

Senator: Sports Stadiums ‘at Risk from…Sea-Level Rise Effects of Climate Change’

Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) warns sports stadiums are at risk from the “sea level rise effects of climate change,” and that climate change specifically threatens hockey and skiing.

“We see significant sports facilities, the palaces of – of sport that are at risk from the storm, climate, sea-level rise effects of climate change,” Sen. Whitehouse said today following a closed-door climate discussion with executives from the NFL, NHL and NBA.

He said the threat to hockey is that people will no longer be able to play outdoors on frozen ponds:

“Without cold enough weather for frozen ponds, the kind of hockey that you play out of doors with your friends gets a little bit harder to achieve.”

Whitehouse also suggested climate change will prevent his family from continuing to go skiing in Rhode Island:

“I took my kids skiing at Yawgoo Valley ski slopes in Rhode Island. The New York Times recently reported that we can expect all the ski slopes in Connecticut and Massachusetts to be gone.

“Obviously, given Rhode Island’s location, if that’s true of Connecticut and Massachusetts, that will also be unfortunately true of Rhode Island.”

The senator is no stranger to such Chicken Little scare tactics. In May 2013, Whitehouse blamed Republican inaction on climate change for deadly tornados in Oklahoma.

Did You Know We Were Royally Screwed Yesterday?

President Obama issued an executive order Friday directing a government-wide effort to boost preparation in states and local communities for the impact of Global Warming.

In Typical Obama/Media collusion there was a Friday afternoon dump of this gem. What has just happened is obama has yet again circumvented the will of the people and Congress who have repeatedly defeated Global Warming legislation.

He has now opened the door to total destruction of our economy. Make no mistake about it. This is their plan.

The obamacare fiasco is part of it. They wanted it to fail. They want the markets in termoil. People getting cancelled with no where to turn but the Gov.

Now electricity will become so cost prohibitive no one will be able to afford big home, hell any home besides what the Gov assigns you like in Russia. NOT GOOD.

Can someone tell me, no really someone tell me just where do his powers end. What do we need Congress and the Senate for if he can just issue executive orders and get what he wants.

Sort of reminds me of the “Enabling act” and Adolph Hitler.

Obama orders government to prepare for impact of global warming

By Dave Boyer

The Washington Times

President Obama issued an executive order Friday directing a government-wide effort to boost preparation in states and local communities for the impact of global warming.

The action orders federal agencies to work with states to build “resilience” against major storms and other weather extremes. For example, the president’s order directs that infrastructure projects like bridges and flood control take into consideration climate conditions of the future, which might require building structures larger or stronger — and likely at a higher price tag.

“The impacts of climate change — including an increase in prolonged periods of excessively high temperatures, more heavy downpours, an increase in wildfires, more severe droughts, permafrost thawing, ocean acidification and sea-level rise — are already affecting communities, natural resources, ecosystems, economies and public health across the nation,” the presidential order said. “The federal government must build on recent progress and pursue new strategies to improve the nation’s preparedness and resilience.”

There’s no estimate of how much the additional planning will cost. Natural disasters including Superstorm Sandy cost the U.S. economy more than $100 billion in 2012, according to the administration.

The White House is also setting up a task force of state and local leaders to offer advice to the federal government, with several Democratic governors having agreed to serve and at least one Republican governor, from the U.S. territory of Guam.

Mr. Obama has a goal of reducing U.S. greenhouse gas emissions by 17 percent by 2020, and the Environmental Protection Agency is working on rules that would impose tougher regulations on coal-burning power plants. But much of the president’s climate-change agenda has stalled in Congress, and the administration says the new order recognizes that global greenhouse gas emissions are still rising, making further damage from global warming inevitable.

At a speech at Georgetown University in June, Mr. Obama outlined executive actions he would take to require government and private industry to prepare for the effects of climate change.

( I just love that he gets to tell “Private Industry” how to act)

“The question is not whether we need to act,” Mr. Obama said at the time. “The question is whether we will have the courage to act before it’s too late.”

Starvation would run rampant without key substance

With a president who has quietly confided a plan to regulate the coal industry out of existence, Bob Unruh’s article in WND today has significance.

NASA: UARS Could Still Hit US

Last week, I posted about a used-up climate probe satellite known as UARS that NASA expected was going to reenter the Earth’s atmosphere sometime around today.

It appears its descent has now slowed somewhat, and may not come down until later tonight or possibly sometime tomorrow, which is when NASA had once thought was the most likely date of its return.

NASA is also saying that there is a chance it could come down somewhere here in America, although they are still not sure exactly where it will fall.

Of course, given this satellite’s mission, I’m still pulling for the roof of Al Gore’s mansion.  ;-)

As a hopeless space junkie, I have seen meteors streak across the sky many times, but I have never seen something man-made and the size of a school bus reenter the atmosphere live and in person.

That would be really cool to see.

What Goes Up Must (Eventually) Come Down

Mir reentry March 2001
NASA satellite UARS, launched in 1991 and deactivaed in 2005,  is expected to reenter Earth’s atmosphere on or about the 23rd of this month.

A satellite reentry is not usually big news, and this one really is not either, other than perhaps its large size, which is said to be about that of a school bus.

What caught my eye when reading the Space.com article linked above was NASA’s explanation as to what had degraded its orbit:

NASA spokeswoman Beth Dickey confirmed with SPACE.com earlier today that the reason UARS is expected to fall early in its re-entry window is because of the sharp uptick in solar activity. Solar effects from the sun can create an extra drag on satellites in space because they can heat the Earth’s atmosphere, causing it to expand, agency officials have said.

LOL – But hasn’t James Hansen and his crew of NASA “scientists” been telling us all along that it was our SUVs and light bulbs that were warming Earth’s atmosphere?

There is one further tidbit of interesting, if not a little ironic information concerning UARS:

It is a climate probe satellite that was launched during the ozone scare.

Where did Agenda 21 come from daddy? Well, honey, it all started with a man named Maurice Strong

Canadian internationalist and Rockefeller errand boy, Maurice Strong, is the father of Agenda 21.  This plan has been in the works since the early 1970s;  premised on climate change, the old Rockefeller hobby horse — population control, redistribution of wealth and social justice. ~LTG

Al Gore Hissy Fit – Recorded for Our Delight

Verbatim Text provided on Michelle Malkin’s website:

The model of media manipulation used then [cigarette companies delaying implementation of the surgeon general's report on the hazards of smoking], Gore said, “was transported whole cloth into the climate debate. And some of the exact same people — I can go down a list of their names — are involved in this. And so what do they do? They pay pseudo-scientists to pretend to be scientists to put out the message: ‘This climate thing, it’s nonsense. Man-made CO2 doesn’t trap heat. It may be volcanoes.’ Bullshit! ‘It may be sun spots.’ Bullshit! ‘It’s not getting warmer.’ Bullshit!” Gore exclaimed.

“When you go and talk to any audience about climate, you hear them washing back at you the same crap over and over and over again,” he continued. “There’s no longer a shared reality on an issue like climate even though the very existence of our civilization is threatened. People have no idea! … It’s no longer acceptable in mixed company, meaning bipartisan company, to use the goddamn word climate. It is not acceptable. They have polluted it to the point where we cannot possibly come to an agreement on it.”
