Democrats, The Party Of Corruption

Hot on the heels of Dr. Eowyn’s  post of Charlotte Dem. Mayor being indicted HERE

I was listening to El Rushbo yesterday and he was talking about Leland Yee. Who is Yee? Read on. Then keep reading for a bunch of recent Dems Busted (Bold)

This guy takes the cake for Democrat corruption, and hypocrisy.

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I’m not quite through with telling you who Leland Yee is.  He is big in California, and running for secretary of state. He’s a state senator.  He was practically Piers Morgan’s go-to guy for attacking legal gun owners.  You may not have seen it because nobody watched CNN or Piers Morgan, but Leland Yee was a frequent guest.

leland-yee

leland-yee

When he would leave an appearance on Piers Morgan, he’d go straight to Twitter.  Here’s a typical tweet from Leland Yee back on December 14th: “A year after Sandy Hook, let us recommit ourselves to working towards a safer society for all of us.”  I wonder how long Yee might have been allegedly helping to run guns?  I wonder if he was involved in Fast and Furious, for example.

But here’s a guy tweeting that we need to “recommit ourselves to working towards a safer society for all of us,” and this guy’s out running M16s, $2 million worth.  Now, as I mentioned, “Charlotte Mayor Patrick Cannon is facing public corruption charges after prosecutors said he solicited $48,000 in cash, airline tickets, a hotel room and the use of a luxury apartment as bribes from undercover FBI agents posing as developers.

“Cannon is the latest mayor of a large city to face a scandal in recent years. Here is a look at some others: Former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin is awaiting sentencing after being found guilty in February of 20 counts of accepting bribes and other corruption charges…”  This is the guy that couldn’t get the school buses in action to get people moved out of New Orleans when Katrina was coming in.

“Former Trenton, NJ, Mayor Tony Mack was convicted in February of taking money in exchange for getting approval in 2012 to develop a downtown parking garage that only existed in a federal sting. He is awaiting sentencing. He is one of a long list of New Jersey mayors to face corruption charges since 2000, including the leaders of Newark, Camden, Paterson, Perth Amboy, Hoboken, Passaic, Asbury Park, Orange and Hamilton.”

These are all Democrats.

The story does not say that, by the way.

They’re all Democrats.

“Former San Diego Mayor Bob Filner,” you remember him, “resigned last August after a number of sexual harassment allegations. He pleaded guilty to false imprisonment and misdemeanor battery in October...” Now, these are all Democrats, and all of these stings and scandal investigations took place during the Obama administration, and they run the FBI.  Something is going on here.

You would never expect this to happen unless… No, I don’t even want to speculate.  I’ll just take it for what it is at face value.  “Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick is serving 28 years in prison after being convicted in October of extortion, bribery, conspiracy and other crimes.” Now, keep in mind as you hear all that, it’s the Tea Party that poses the biggest threat to this country.

Yeah. It’s the Tea Party.

“In October 2008, Kilpatrick spent 99 days in jail for his part in a sex-and-text scandal. Former Birmingham, AL, Mayor Larry Langford took $235,000 in cash, loans and gifts… He was convicted of 60 counts in October 2009 and is serving 15 years in prison.” Now, here’s another story. This is a Washington Post version of the story: “FBI Conducts Raids, Targeting Elected Officials in Three States.”

Again, they don’t say Democrats here.

“Federal law enforcement officials arrested two public officials in California and North Carolina and raided the office of a New York state senator in connection with separate corruption investigations on Wednesday. Hundreds of federal agents conducted searches of offices around the San Francisco Bay Area and arrested several people on Tuesday, including state Sen. Leland Yee (D) and a former head of a Hong Kong-based crime syndicate…

“Charlotte Mayor Patrick Cannon… William Scarborough,” an assemblyman. Both Democrats. “Investigators raided the Gee King Tong Free Masons offices in Chinatown, which [Raymond "Shrimp Boy"] Chow runs.” He was one of the associates of California state senator (Democrat) Leland Yee.  Now, folks, if this is strictly Democrats – which, so far, it is. We don’t know if there are other investigations yet to be revealed.

This mayor of Charlotte, by the way, has only been mayor for six months.  It didn’t take them long to size this guy up, for example.  The FBI has been working on all of this for years — and not a peep, folks!  In North Carolina, they’ve been setting up former mayor Cannon since 2010.  They spent over $480,000 to do it.  It’s hard to conclude otherwise.  It’s like the FBI has been working secretly behind the scenes since Obama was elected.

If this sweep is strictly Democrats, which so far it is, what does that mean?  What does that tell you?  Does it tell you anything? (interruption) Well, that is a possibility.  It is entirely possible that what’s going on here is that the head honchos of the Democrat Party are basically behind an effort to take out all of their bad apples before the election; make ‘em old news by the time the election comes around.

The timing here is obviously curious, and it really is hard to believe the FBI would be working against the wishes of the Regime.  Isn’t it?  That’s really hard to calculate.  So it could well be that the Democrats know they got some bad apples and they’re gonna just clear the decks, just get rid of all of them early enough in the year so that when the election comes around and their opponents start talking about it, it’s old news.

“Nothing to see here!”

It’s still, however, big news.

However, it’s not all that big.  I’ve got one sound bite on it.  I’m talking it’s big, big. But in the Drive-Bys, you’re not seeing a whole lot of it, is my point.  We did put together a montage.  We can call this “the Culture of Corruption.”  Prominent Democrat politicians have been arrested all across the fruited plain within the last week.  This is a 44-second montage of various Drive-By reporters from all over the country…

DAN ASHLEY: State Senator Leland Yee is in federal court right now facing a seven-count felony indictment of gun trafficking and political corruption. His stunning arrest happened this morning as the FBI raided multiple Bay Area locations.

MAUREEN O’BOYLE: Charlotte Mayor Patrick Cannon arrested, accused of bribery, theft and corruption.

MIKE MONTECALVO: (b-roll noise) Federal and state law enforcement execute two search warrants targeting the home and office of Rhode Island House Speaker, Gordon Fox.

ROMA TORRE: The FBI raids the home, office, and Albany hotel room of a state assemblyman from Queens. Investigators carried away boxes of William Scarborough’s files. The assemblyman is accused of abusing his expense vouchers.

CYNTHIA BRUNO: Former Illinois state representative Keith Farnham is being investigated for child pornography.

RUSH:  Oh, big time there!  Keith Farnham is being investigated for child pornography, and the assemblyman’s accused of “abusing his expense vouchers.”  Would you like to see that?  How do you abuse an expense voucher?  I know what the infobabe means, but that’s not what you say. You know, in our common culture, when you start saying that somebody abused their expense vouchers, the low-information crowd’s gonna say, “Well, gee, can you show me how that’s done?  Is it cool?”

Dingy Harry belongs in any discussion of a culture of corruption.  And, in fact, years ago the LA Times did a huge expose on Dingy Harry’s fraudulent, smarmy, sneaky land deals in Nevada and elsewhere.  Yesterday in Washington on Capitol Hill, there was a Senate Democrat press conference, and Dingy Harry spoke. During the Q&A, an unidentified Drive-By reporter and Dingy Harry went at it.

REPORTER:  Your decision yesterday to reimburse your campaign $17,000 –

REID:  I think it was $16,000, but whatever.

REPORTER:  Was that an acknowledgement that it was wrong to use your granddaughter –

REID:  No, no –

REPORTER:  — as a vendor and –

REID:  No, no in fact…

REPORTER:  — can you say why –

REID:  No, no in fact –

REPORTER:  — you decided to do that in the first place?

REID:  No, in fact it wasn’t. We complied with all the rules, that was said. I just wanted to avoid — and I’m very fortunate that I can write that check, so I’m – it’s all done. But everything was complied with beforehand.

REPORTER:  Well –

REID:  I’m not going to answer –

REPORTER:  — what was the reasoning in the first place?

REID:  Read my statement.

RUSH:  I’m not gonna answer. Read my statement.  Shut up!  You know who you’re talking to?  I’ve taken care of it, I can write that check.  You can’t.  I’m lucky I can.  I have money and you don’t, so shut up.  I’m Harry Reid.  Except he never talks that loud.  You know, speaking of having a cold, when I hear Harry Reid, I want to constantly either blow my nose or clear my throat.  That voice, it sounds like he needs a drain in there, just sounds like there’s so much saliva floating around in his mouth that you just — I don’t know.  It makes me nervous.  And let’s just listen to a montage of Democrats, this is 2006, when they ran to recapture the House on the supposed culture of corruption that was the Republican Party.

LOUISE SLAUGHTER: We will expose the deepest roots of the culture of corruption.

HARRY REID: This is a culture of corruption.

NANCY PELOSI: The Republican culture of corruption.

HARRY REID: I know a little bit about corruption.

OBAMA: Political corruption.

NANCY PELOSI: The culture of corruption.

RUSH:  I think Pelosi was very tight with Democrat State Senator Leland Yee, if I’m not mistaken.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH:  Now, one thing about the Dingy Harry corruption, I just want to give you the details of what happened.  Dingy Harry’s scandal this year — Remember, folks, the reason why — I’m interrupting myself here to make an observation.  It was the House Bank Scandal and the House Post Office Scandal that came to light in 1990, maybe a little earlier than that, but you can talk about the Contract with America, and it did matter. But the only reason — well, no, I can’t say the only reason.

WTF! Navy tracks our parking tickets and traffic citations

Eye of Sauron

It’s not enough that the NSA (National Security Agency) spies on every phone call, email, and credit card transaction we make.

Now comes news that the U.S. Navy, specifically the NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service), has a massive database of hundreds of millions of law enforcement records. If you’ve had so much as a parking ticket, you are already in that database.

Mark Flatten reports for the Washington Examiner, March 21, 2014, that the NCIS database is called the Law Enforcement Information Exchange (or LinX), containing 506.3 million law enforcement records ranging from criminal histories and arrest reports to field information cards filled out by cops on the beat even when no crime has occurred.

Fidell reviewed the Navy’s LinX website at the request of the Washington Examiner to assess the propriety of putting such a powerful database under the control of a military police entity. He says LinX “gives me the willies.

LinX is a national information-sharing hub for federal, state and local law enforcement agencies. It is run by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, raising concerns among some military law experts that putting such detailed data about ordinary citizens in the hands of military officials crosses the line that generally prohibits the armed forces from conducting civilian law enforcement operations.

Those fears are heightened by recent disclosures of the National Security Agency spying on Americans, and the CIA allegedly spying on Congress.

The military has a history of spying on Americans. The Army did it during the Vietnam War and the Air Force did it after the Sept. 11 terror attacks. Among the groups subjected to military spying in the name of protecting military facilities from terrorism was a band of Quakers organizing a peace rally in Florida.

LinX administrators say it is nothing more than an information-sharing network that connects records from participating police departments across the country.

LinX was created in 2003 and put under NCIS, which has counterterrorism and intelligence-gathering missions in addition to responsibility for criminal investigations. LinX was originally supposed to help NCIS protect naval bases from terrorism.

More than 1,300 agencies participate, including The FBI and other Department of Justice divisions, the Department of Homeland Security and the Pentagon. Police departments along both coasts and in Texas, New Mexico, Alaska and Hawaii are in LinX. Participating agencies must feed their information into the federal data warehouse and electronically update it daily in return for access.

The number of records in the system has mushroomed from about 50 million in 2007 to more than 10 times that number today.

Background checks for gun sales and applications for concealed weapons permits are not included in the system, according to NCIS officials and representatives of major state and local agencies contacted by the Examiner.

Director of NCIS Andrew Traver

Director of NCIS Andrew Traver

The director of NCIS, Andrew Traver, drew stiff opposition from the National Rifle Association after Obama twice nominated him to be head of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. The nomination failed to go forward in the Senate both times, largely because of what the NRA described as Traver’s advocacy for stricter gun laws.

He became NCIS director in October 2013.

NCIS officials could not say how much has been spent on LinX since it was created 2003. They provided figures since the 2008 fiscal year totaling $42.3 million. Older records are not available from NCIS.

Incomplete data from USAspending.gov shows at least $7.2 million more was spent between 2003 and 2008. The actual figure is probably much higher, since the spending listed on the disclosure site only totals $23 million since 2003.

Why LinX wound up in the NCIS, a military law enforcement agency, is not clear. Current NCIS officials could not explain the reasoning, other than to say it grew out of the department’s need for access to law enforcement records relevant to criminal investigations.

The FBI, a DOJ entity, has since built its own system similar to LinX, called the National Data Exchange or N-Dex. The systems are connected, and much of the information in N-Dex comes from LinX, said Christopher Cote, assistant director for information technology at NCIS.

Eugene Fidell, who teaches military law at Yale Law School and is a member of the Defense Department’s Legal Policy Board and a board member of the International Society for Military Law and the Law of War, calls LinX “domestic spying.”

Asked by Washington Examiner to review LinX, Fidell says “It gives me the willies. Clearly, it cannot be right that any part of the Navy is collecting traffic citation information. This sounds like something from a third-world country, where you have powerful military intelligence watching everybody.

Fidell says Americans have distrusted the use of the military for civilian law enforcement since before the Revolutionary War. Since the passage of the Posse Comitatus Act of 1878, it has been illegal for the military to engage in domestic law enforcement except in limited circumstances, such as quelling insurrections. The limits in the law were largely undefined for almost a century.

In 1973, the Army provided logistical support for FBI agents trying to break the standoff with American Indian Movement militants at Wounded Knee, S.D. Several criminal defendants later argued the use of the military was illegal under Posse Comitatus. Ensuing court decisions decreed that using the military for direct policing, such as making arrests or conducting searches, was illegal and should be left to civilian departments. Providing logistical support, equipment and information are allowed. Since then, the law has been loosened to allow limited military participation in certain large-scale anti-drug investigations.

Gene Healy, vice president of the Cato Institute and an Examiner columnist who has written about the overreach of the military in civilian law enforcement, says that aside from the legal issues is the problem of “mission creep.” What begins as a well-meaning and limited effort to assist local police can grow into a powerful threat to constitutional protections.

A recent example of mission-creep gone awry is the Threat And Local Observation Notice (or TALON) program created by the Air Force at the same time LinX was launched.

Like LinX, TALON’s purpose was to create a network for information-sharing among federal, state and local police agencies that could be used to help protect military facilities. In 2005, media reports showed TALON was being used to spy on anti-war groups, including the Quakers. TALON was disbanded in 2007.

Healy says: “The history of these programs is that they tend to metastasize and that there is mission creep that involves gathering far more information than is needed. In general, what you see in these programs is they start out very narrow and they expand beyond the limits of their original logic. Repeatedly throughout American history, what starts small becomes larger, more intrusive, more troubling.”

TALON was primarily an intelligence-gathering network. As for LinX, it can only be used for law enforcement purposes, though intelligence and counter-terror officers at NCIS do have access to the system. The rules governing LinX are almost identical to those controlling other federal databases run by the FBI.

NCIS spokesman Ed Buice said while NCIS is a military police unit, its agents are civilian employees equivalent to those at the FBI and other federal agencies. And although there are limits on military enforcement of civilian laws, it is allowed if it is done “primarily for a military purpose,” which is how NCIS uses the system.

Civil libertarians get more concerned as more trivial information on average citizens is collected under the guise of protecting the public, especially absent some reasonable suspicion that a crime has been committed.

ACLU’s legislative counsel Chris Calabrese said pawn shop records and parking tickets are that kind of questionable information. “To me, that may be where you are starting to cross the line on mass collection of information on innocent people just because you can. We live now in a world of records where everything we do is generating a record. So the standard can’t be, ‘We have to keep it all because it might be useful for something some day.’ The rationale has to be more finely tuned than that.”

Stop blaming racism for your own bad behavior!

On August 28, 1963, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered his famous speech, I Have a Dream, in which he said:

“I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.”

Sadly, half a century later, Dr. King’s dream remains an aspiration to be fulfilled. Too many black Americans and their allies on the Left are still relying on the “color of their skin,” scapegoating anyone who judges “the content of their character” with the noxious label of “racist.”

My bud Mark S. McGrew sent me this outstanding essay by Rev. Sam Sewell. He urges that y’all send this post to:

Sanford.florida@usdoj.gov

That’s the special email address that Eric Holder and the Department of Injustice so thoughtfully set up for all patriotic Americans to send in their “tips” on George Zimmerman, whom a jury acquitted last Saturday. DOJ wants your “tips” so that the Obama regime can sic him with federal civil rights charges — even though the DOJ’s own FBI has found no evidence that Zimmerman is racist.

racecard

No Matter What Color You Are

By Rev. Sam Sewell

We need to begin accepting that there is an underclass of people who are racist, criminal, use more than they produce, feed at the public trough, produce fatherless children, see themselves as victims, use dangerous drugs, promote prostitution, whose speech is full of vulgarities and reeks of ignorance, and hate white Americans. Gee, who could that class of people be? Do we have a name for them? Or is the name unspeakable?

Quote from a Psychology Professor I once had;  “People are not who you think they are. People are not who they think they are. People are what they do. That is why this is called the behavioral science”. Forget the labels. They are all misleading. Pay attention to the behavior. Describe these people according to their behavior and all the racist politics dissolve into the nothingness from which they came. The word “racist” was invented by democrats to buy votes.

No Matter What Color You Are:

If you participate in criminal behavior you are a criminal and you don’t deserve to be treated as an equal with law abiding citizens.

If your demographic group commits more crime than other demographic groups you will be looked upon with suspicion even if you personally are not a criminal.

If your demographic group has a large number of dysfunctional families your children will not be well adjusted nor do well in school or the workplace.

If your demographic group has a large percentage of “fatherless” children your culture is sick and does not deserve equality.

If your demographic group has a high drop-out rate for high school you are not the equal of educated people.

If your demographic group uses illegal drugs and abuses alcohol you will not be the equal of sober responsible people.

If you cannot properly read, write, and speak the language of your country do not expect equal treatment when you apply for a job or interact with those who are fluent with the primary language.

If you behave hatefully toward other demographic groups you will not be respected.

If you use more than you produce or accept handouts you are of no value to your society and cannot expect to be treated as an equal.

If your demographic group makes up 12% of the population and accounts for 49% of all homicides, and if  93%  of those murders a committed by other people in  the same demographic group, your group is pathologically violent and should not be seen as equal to other less violent groups.

If it is safer to be in the military than in your neighborhood, enlist now.  If you get through boot camp you will be treated as an equal.

If you are blaming other people for your dysfunctional behavior you have serious psychological problems and don’t deserve to be treated as an equal.

Equity doesn’t come to you because of your color, no matter what it is.  Laws cannot bestow equality, no matter how much politicians will lie to you to get your vote.  You will be respected because of your behavior.  You will be equal when your behavior is equal to other people in the nation.

There are dozens of demographic studies that have not been cited above, but make the same point.  Don’t blame your color for your lack of equality.  Blame your own behavior.

The good news is that there is a way out.  You do have equal opportunity.  Change your behavior and you will leave your demographic group behind and become an equal.

You may be right that “simple will power” is not adequate to reverse decades of social pathology. But I do know that validating pathology and subsidizing it will prevent any tactic from being efficacious. The sub culture we are discussing is sick to its core. However, the solution is available within this very same demographic group. Not everybody is sick. One of the most valuable areas of research for epidemiologists is studying those who don’t get sick. How are the functional people in this demographic group behaving?  Mostly they succeed because of hard work, good values, and responsible living. And that is a universal recipe for success and is not confined to any demographic group. Those are the nongovernmental solutions that can heal a sick society.

Blaming the pathology on other people is not a solution.

Blaming the pathology on history is not a solution.

Photos of Boston bombings suspects

Update (April 19):

One of the two suspects (in black hat on left in pic below) was killed in a shootout with police. Suspect in white hat is on the loose. Go here for details.

***

ABC reports that the FBI today released images of two suspects in the Boston Marathon bombing the bureau considers to be “armed and extremely dangerous.”

Boston bombings suspectsBoston Marathon bombings suspects

At a press conference, FBI special agent in charge Richard DesLauriers referred to the two men as Suspect 1 and Suspect 2 and said Suspect 2 was spotted dropping a bag before a bomb exploded at the second bomb site. The two men appear to be “associated.”

DesLauriers asks the public for their help identifying the suspects, but the public should not approach them because they are considered armed and dangerous.

Three people were killed and more than 170 wounded in dual blasts near the finish line of the Boston Marathon Monday. No group, foreign or domestic, has claimed responsibility.

Meanwhile, what happened to the “suspect” who we were told yesterday had been “arrested,” then changed to merely being “identified”? He was supposed to be brought to Boston’s Moakley Federal Courthouse yesterday, but wasn’t, because the courthouse received a bomb threat and was evacuated.

And what about the Saudi national who reportedly was held and questioned as a suspect right after the bombings, then his status was revised to a “person of interest” (POI)?

Kerry Picket reports today for Breitbart.com that terrorism expert Steven Emerson of the Investigative Project revealed on Hannity’s cable show Wednesday evening that an official at ICE told him the Saudi national first questioned by authorities about the deadly bombings at the Boston Marathon on Monday is set to be deported. Emerson said, “It was determined that he had no involvement [...] Well, I just learned from my own sources he’s now going to be deported on national security grounds Tuesday. This is the way things are done with Saudi Arabia. You don’t arrest their citizens. You deport them, because they don’t want them to be embarrassed.”

In an email, Act for America identifies the mysterious Saudi national to be Abdulrahman Alharbi. Here’s his photo from the Facebook page of Abdulrahman Al-harbi:

Abdulrahman Al-harbi

Lastly, Reuters reports that yesterday, Obama met with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud al-Faisal at the White House ostensibly to discuss the conflict in Syria. The meeting was not on the POS’s public schedule.

Move over Columbus. Muslims first discovered America!

ColumbusChristopher Columbus (l); Nihad Awad (r)

With the constant barrage of grim news, we can sure use some comic relief.

Neil Munro reports for The Daily Caller, Jan. 4, 2013, that Nihad Awad, co-founder of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), said Muslims had discovered the Americas long before Columbus sailed the ocean blue in 1492.

CAIR is America’s largest Muslim “civil rights” lobby group, headquartered on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., with regional offices nationwide. In 2009, the FBI called CAIR an unindicted co-conspirator with the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas. Five of CAIR’s former employees have been jailed or deported for terror offenses, and FBI officials refuse to meet Awad because of his ties to jihadi groups, such as Hamas.

Last December 27, Awad told a Saudi TV station in an interview in a New York studio, recorded by the Middle East Media Research Institute: “There are historical accounts according to which the Muslims preceded Columbus, who is said to have discovered the U.S. Some documents and accounts indicate that Muslim seafarers were the first to reach the U.S., [so] the bottom line is that Islam played a part in the establishment and development of the U.S.”

Awad then argued that Muslims can settle in the U.S. without violating Islam’s myriad Sharia rules about religion, diet, speech, friendships, work and political loyalty. But Islam’s Sharia laws curb religious freedom, speech, and political activism, and also subordinate non-Muslims and women to orthodox Muslim men. Sharia is enforced in Saudi Arabia, Iran, much of Afghanistan and increasingly in Egypt, Turkey, Tunisia and Libya, all of which were recently governed by secular laws.

Awad’s claim is part of a broader campaign by Islamist groups to encourage Muslims to settle in the United States and Europe. From 610 to 632, Islam’s founder, Mohammad, reputedly urged his followers to spread Islam by both conquest and emigration.

The Islamic civilization did enjoy a “Golden Age” beginning in the middle of the 8th century with the ascension of the Abbasid Caliphate and the transfer of the capital from Damascus to Baghdad. Lasting five centuries, Islam’s Golden Age came to an abrupt end when the Mongols invaded and conquered Baghdad in 1258 — 234 years before Christopher Columbus found America.

Muslims “discovered” the Americas first?

Yeah right. [smirk]

On a more ominous note, there may be a method to Awad’s madness.

Fundamentalist Islam sees the world as divided between the part already won for Islam and that which remains to be conquered. They believe that once a land has become part of the dar-al-Islam (House of Islam), it cannot be allowed to revert to infidel rule and Muslims have the irredentist right to reclaim the land for Islam.

Does this mean CAIR, with its cofounder Awad’s ludicrous and wholly without-evidence claim that unnamed Muslims had discovered the Americas before Columbus, is “reclaiming” America for Islam?

FBI: More People Killed with Hammers, Clubs Each Year than Rifles

WOW Who Would have Thunk IT?

By Clash Daily / 3 January 2013

According to the FBI annual crime statistics, the number of murders committed annually with hammers and clubs far outnumbers the number of murders committed with a rifle.

This is an interesting fact, particularly amid the Democrats’ feverish push to ban many different rifles, ostensibly to keep us safe of course.

However, it appears the zeal of Sens. like Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) and Joe Manchin (D-WV) is misdirected. For in looking at the FBI numbers from 2005 to 2011, the number of murders by hammers and clubs consistently exceeds the number of murders committed with a rifle.

Think about it: In 2005, the number of murders committed with a rifle was 445, while the number of murders committed with hammers and clubs was 605. In 2006, the number of murders committed with a rifle was 438, while the number of murders committed with hammers and clubs was 618.

And so the list goes, with the actual numbers changing somewhat from year to year, yet the fact that more people are killed with blunt objects each year remains constant.

For example, in 2011, there was 323 murders committed with a rifle but 496 murders committed with hammers and clubs.
While the FBI makes is clear that some of the “murder by rifle” numbers could be adjusted up slightly, when you take into account murders with non-categorized types of guns, it does not change the fact that their annual reports consistently show more lives are taken each year with these blunt objects than are taken with Feinstein’s dreaded rifle.

Another interesting fact: According to the FBI, nearly twice as many people are killed by hands and fists each year than are killed by murderers who use rifles.

The Strange Case of Marilyn Monroe

Marilyn Monroe

The mysterious death of the ultimate blonde bombshell, Marilyn Monroe, has always been linked to either John or Robert Kennedy by conspiracy theorists. LA coroner, Thomas Noguchi officially pronounced it a suicide from drug overdose although no trace of drugs was found in her digestive system and no needle punctures were found on her body.

In today’s Daily Mail, is an account of the the FBI’s release of some files documenting her connections with known Communist agents that they kept on her from the mid-1950s to her untimely death in 1962.

Hill Street Blues actress, Veronica Hamel’s bio on the Internet Movie Database, provides more documentation of the FBI’s surveillance of Marilyn Monroe:

In 1972 she (Hamel) and her then husband became the new owners of Marilyn Monroe‘s Brentwood home. They hired a contractor to replace the roof and remodel the house, and the contractor discovered a sophisticated eavesdropping and telephone tapping system that covered every room in the house. The components were not commercially available in 1962, but were–in the words of a retired Justice Department official–”standard FBI issue.” This discovery lent further support to claims of conspiracy theorists that Marilyn had been under surveillance by the Kennedys and the Mafia. The new owners spent $100,000 to remove the bugging devices from the house.

American Deception-Marilyn Monroe File

The AmericanDeception.com website has the out-of-print 1964 book in pdf format, “The Strange Death of Marilyn Monroe,” by former police detective turned private investigator,  Frank A. Capell.   His investigation results published two years after her death document that her medical doctor, psychiatrist, personal assisstant and housekeeper all had communist party ties going back decades! (It reminded me of the “Sleepers” described by former soviet agent, Yuri Bezmenov, in the “Sleepers and Messiahs” post. )    The Capell book convinced me that she was most definitely murdered and the communists who comprised her inner-circle were involved in the crime and coverup.

Feds Seek Enhanced Social Media Data Mining Capability

Via infosecurity-us.com:

Out-Hoover Hoover: FBI wants massive data-mining capability for social media

27 January 2012

The FBI is asking industry for help in developing a far-reaching data-mining application that can gather and analyze intelligence from social media sites.

The FBI wants “to determine the capability of industry to provide an open source and social media alert, mapping, and analysis application”, the agency said in a request for information (RFI).

“The application must have the ability to rapidly assemble critical open source information and intelligence that will allow SIOC [Strategic Information and Operations Center] to quickly vet, identify, and geo-locate breaking events, incidents and emerging threats”, the RFI explained.

The application must be able to provide an “automated search and scrape capability of both social networking sites and open source news sites for breaking events, crisis, and threats.”

The FBI also wants the capability to analyze the social media data to provide early warning; detect credible threats or monitor adversarial situations; locate bad actors or groups and analyze their movements, vulnerabilities, limitations, and possible adverse actions; predict likely developments or future actions taken by bad actors; and develop databases on the information gathered from social media sites.

Nowhere in this detailed RFI, however, does the FBI ask industry to comment on the privacy implications of such massive data collection and storage of social media sites. Nor does the FBI say how it would define the “bad actors” who would be subjected this type of scrutiny.

I am dismissing the terrorist angle right off the bat, as given perhaps a handful of kook exceptions, most truly determined terrorists are not going to announce their intentions on a public forum.

That brings us to a far larger question which is, what exactly is the government looking to do here?

Having read a great deal of history over the course of my life, I am fully aware that all governments have their totalitarian leanings, and ours is no different.

Historically, governments do not much like dissent, and as they become larger and more powerful, their intolerance of dissent grows right along with them. At first, it is threats and intimidation. Later on, it becomes incarceration, and all too often after that come the gallows, firing squads, or the gas chambers.

Way back in the Usenet days, I formed a theory that government was most likely monitoring what was being posted, and probably recording things that might catch its interest. In the years since and given what I have seen, that theory has been reinforced several times over.

Of course, there is no case to be made that government monitoring public forums is illegal, but the idea that it may ultimately be not a little sinister is not all that much of a stretch.

After all, we are now existing in a surveillance society, and when you factor in the Obama administration’s track record of open hostility when it comes to its detractors, the term ‘bad actor’ could mean just about anything.

You see, it is not the terms themselves, but who gets to define them that ultimately matters.

Emergency Preparedness Fits the FBI Terrorist Profile?

Please note, I have only posted Part 1 of this video that defines the problem.  If you opt to click on  Part 2, it begins with a mention of Ron Paul’s position on the issue.
