Brandeis U. decides against honor for Islam critic

Sacramento Bee: After taking heat from some of its own over a decision to grant an honorary degree to an advocate for Muslim women who has made comments critical of Islam, Brandeis University withdrew the honor Tuesday night.

The university said in a statement that Somali-born Ayaan Hirsi Ali would no longer receive the honorary degree, which it had planned to award her at the May 18 commencement.

Ali, a member of the Dutch Parliament from 2003 to 2006, has been quoted as making comments critical of Islam. That includes a 2007 interview with Reason Magazine in which she said of the religion: “Once it’s defeated, it can mutate into something peaceful. It’s very difficult to even talk about peace now. They’re not interested in peace. I think that we are at war with Islam. And there’s no middle ground in wars.”

Brandeis, outside Boston in Waltham, Mass., said it was not aware of Ali’s statements earlier.

“She is a compelling public figure and advocate for women’s rights, and we respect and appreciate her work to protect and defend the rights of women and girls throughout the world,” said the university’s statement. “That said, we cannot overlook certain of her past statements that are inconsistent with Brandeis University’s core values.”

Even though the university withdrawing the honorary degree, “Ali is welcome to join us on campus in the future to engage in a dialogue about these important issues,” the statement said.

Ali was raised in a strict Muslim family, but after surviving a civil war, genital mutilation, beatings and an arranged marriage, she renounced the faith in her 30s. She declined to comment this week to The Associated Press.

In 2007, Ali helped establish the AHA Foundation, which works to protect and defend the rights of women in the West from oppression justified by religion and culture, according to its website. The foundation also strives to protect basic rights and freedoms of women and girls. This includes control of their own bodies, access to an education and the ability to work outside the home and control their own income, the website says.

More than 85 of about 350 faculty members at Brandeis signed a letter asking for Ali to be booted off the list of honorary degree recipients. And an online petition created Monday by students at the school of 5,800 had gathered thousands of signatures from inside and outside the university as of Tuesday afternoon.

“This is a real slap in the face to Muslim students,” senior Sarah Fahmy, a member of the Muslim Student Association who created the petition, said of the honor before the university withdrew it.

Bernard Macy, a 1979 Brandeis graduate, sent an email this week to university President Frederick Lawrence and several members of the faculty saying, “Thank you for recognizing Ayaan Hirsi Ali for defending Muslim women against Islamist honor violence.”

But Ibrahim Hooper, a spokesman for the Council on American-Islamic Relations, the nation’s largest Muslim advocacy group, said, “It is unconscionable that such a prestigious university would honor someone with such openly hateful views.”

The organization sent a letter to Lawrence on Tuesday requesting that it drop its plans to honor Ali.

“This makes Muslim students feel very uneasy,” Joseph Lumbard, chairman of Islamic and Middle Eastern studies, said in an earlier interview. “They feel unwelcome here.”

You want to talk about hateful views (sorry if they make you feel very uneasy)? Take a look:

Christian college drops ‘Crusaders’ nickname in bow to ‘global society’

crusader

Fox News: A Christian college in Wisconsin is dropping its “Crusaders” nickname after nearly 50 years, claiming the moniker has become outdated in a “more global society,” university officials told FoxNews.com.

Maranatha Baptist University in Watertown and its Division III athletic teams have used the name since its founding in 1968. Matt Davis, the university’s executive vice president, said no complaints have been received by the school and stressed that it coincides with its name change from Maranatha Baptist College in December.

“But I also agree that times change and we understand that context changes,” Davis told FoxNews.com. “Our world has changed since 9/11 and we’ve become a more global society with the Internet. The heartbeat behind this was not political correctness, but expanded opportunities for our students.”

Selecting the university’s next mascot will be a collaborative effort, Davis said, and the new name will be revealed during the spring semester. Uniforms will reflect the change beginning in the fall. Hundreds of potential replacements have already been submitted by students, alumni and university stakeholders.

“We’re having a blast with the process,” said Davis, who declined to provide any early favorites. “It’s a fun process, but it’s also a serious process.”

The school’s online athletics publication, also known as The Maranatha Crusader, will be changed as well, Davis said.

While noting the contextual ties to a “Crusade” — defined by Merriam-Webster as “any of the military expeditions undertaken by Christian powers in the 11th, 12th and 13th centuries to win the Holy Land from the Muslims” — Davis said the university’s education mission will not be altered. He does not expect the university’s decision to prompt other colleges to consider replacing the nickname elsewhere.

“Every school is different and every context is different, and I respect the leaders of those institutions,” Davis said. “We’re in no position to give input to or to instruct anyone else.” The change had been under consideration for a “long time,” Davis said.

Meanwhile, an effort to move away from using “Crusaders” as a team name or as a mascot is not underway at several other colleges and universities contacted by FoxNews.com. At least eight other schools use the moniker, including the College of Holy Cross in Massachusetts and Capital University in Ohio. In all, representatives from four colleges told FoxNews.com that the name is not an issue on their campuses.

“It’s important to understand how our alumni would feel about it,” Capital University spokeswoman Nichole Johnson said, adding that the Lutheran-affiliated school has used the name since 1963. “If it ever did become a divisive issue, or a dominant one on campus, we would be happy to have that conversation.”

In 1963, Johnson said the university’s council voted to change the school’s name to the Crusaders from the Fighting Lutherans, which was deemed inappropriate at the time. Other names considered at the time were the Saints and the Purple Knights, Johnson told FoxNews.com.

Elsewhere, at Clarke University in Iowa, president Joanne Burrows said the Crusaders nickname is on solid footing.

“I cannot comment on what is appropriate for Maranatha Baptist as they can and should do what they believe to be in the best interest of their institution,” Burrows wrote FoxNews.com in an e-mail.

A spokesman at Belmont Abbey College in North Carolina told FoxNews.com the “Crusader” name is an 80-year tradition at the university, where it’s a source of pride representing “heroism, chivalry and piety.”

Ibrahim Hooper, communications director at the Council on American-Islamic Relations, told FoxNews.com he welcomed the “Crusaders” change, but said he found team names or mascots that incorporate race or ethnicity more problematic, particularly those pertaining to Native Americans.

“I welcome the spirit behind the change,” Hooper said. “It’s obvious they thought about this. I applaud their effort.”

How does changing the mascot name “expand opportunities” for students? Sounds like BS to me.

When you’ve got CAIR supporting you, I’d be questioning my actions.

Is WordPress censoring conservative blogs?

Do you have a WordPress blog?

Are you noticing a decided slump in the number of readers (measured as “unique views”) for your blog?

The MAD Jewess has, and she believes WordPress — the server of her blog and also of Fellowship of the Minds (FOTM) — is deliberately suppressing and lying about her blog’s stats (statistics).

In her post of June 21, 2013, “Fascist, NAZI WordPress.com is Monitoring the MAD Jewess-BIGTIME,” she writes:

Not only are my stats a lie, many of my friends are not getting their subscriptions. [...]

My husband has emailed wordpress 4X this week to no avail.  They don’t mind taking a little dough, but they will not EVER write back to help us out and FIX their STALINIST statistics..  We use to have many thousands a day, especially in late 2012 on up to April 2013. Then, Obama probably told them to shut us up for calling him what he is; a Murderer, liar, evil, satanic, dumb, asshole etc.  If we blogged about how liberals are wonderful and not debaucherous sobs, they would FIX OUR STATS.

NO, WordPress is not threatening to ‘shut me down’. Its much more cleverer than that.   They just mess with our statistics.  Make it look like all the work we do is for nothing. Its a psych game.  I am not alone in this.  Many WordPress folks have expressed their displeasure about this situation.

SO, we are looking into hiring an investigator to see who else they are doing this to, how they do it and so forth.

There are complaints by other WordPress bloggers of not only declining number of views, but also static numbers of followers or subscribers.

There is a precedent of WordPress bending to the Left’s PC tyranny. In 2012, WordPress actually shut down the blog, Bare Naked Islam, because of complaints from CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations). Go here for the details.

Here on FOTM, I have noticed the following:

  • Our daily stats (# of views) are down by about a thousand a day.
  • Fewer sites seem to be picking up on and linking to our posts, although some of our posts still do get linked. Only recently, SteveQuayle.com had a link to a post by Trail Dust, “‘Constitution Teacher’ attacks Christian kids,” resulting in that post receiving more than 6,000 hits in one day.
  • FOTM’s following, however, continues to grow — as measured by the number of subscribers via Facebook, WordPress, email, and Twitter.

Before going to WordPress’s malicious machinations as the explanation, I first look to two other possibilities:

  1. Summer doldrums: Readership typically declines in the summer months, last summer being an exception because of the looming November 6 elections.
  2. People being spooked by Pres. Lucifer’s NSA blanket surveillance of even ordinary Americans, and so are staying away from the Internet.

We need more information, instead of a few anecdotal accounts and subjective speculations. Here are two polls, to help us gather more information before we hastily jump to a conclusion:

  • The first poll is for bloggers only.
  • The second poll is for readers of FOTM.

Please add your thoughts and explanations of how you voted in a comment!

Thank you. :D

IRS Plays Favorites With Terror-Tied, Democrat-backed CAIR

cair

IBD: While the IRS was hassling any nonprofit group with the word “patriot” in its name, it was rubberstamping exemptions for “Islamic” groups, even organizations that violate disclosure laws.

Worse, it was even finding favor with nonprofits tied to terrorism — namely,  the Washington-based Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), which not coincidentally is yoked to the Democratic Party.

Despite being blackballed by the FBI, which still suspects it’s fronting for  Hamas, and despite failing to file annual tax reports as required by federal  law, CAIR apparently has found friends in high places at the nation’s powerful  taxing authority.

Last year, in the middle of the national election season, the IRS quietly agreed to reinstate CAIR’s tax-exempt status, allowing it to resume raising  tax-free donations just in time for Ramadan, a key time for Muslim charitable giving.

According to the Religion News Service, the IRS in June 2012 sent CAIR’s  national office a letter stating the nonprofit had regained its exemption after  losing it the previous year. Several GOP lawmakers had asked for an audit of  CAIR after a book exposing its internal operations, “Muslim Mafia,” reported the  Islamist outfit had skipped filing IRS Form 990s for at least three years in a  row.

This was concerning since the same book revealed the bulk of CAIR’s funding  comes from foreign donors, including Islamic states hostile to the U.S.

Why the sudden IRS reversal? Did CAIR make good on its delinquencies? That’s still a mystery.

The Religion News article, which was carried by the Washington Post, quoted  CAIR spokesman Ibrahim Hooper gloating about the reversal, yet curiously not  knowing “the details of what paperwork, including tax returns, had been filed” to resolve the issue.

By law, the nonprofit group must make copies of its tax returns available to  the public. Several news outlets, including Politico.com and USA Today, have  asked for copies of CAIR’s missing 2007-10 returns, and CAIR has been unable to  produce them. Curiouser still, CAIR’s latest tax return is only a partial filing — covering  the period from Aug. 9, 2011, to Dec. 31, 2011.

You would think the IRS would make an outfit as sketchy as CAIR jump through hoop after hoop, especially in light of the third degree it gave Tea Party  groups.

But it turns out CAIR’s also found favor in the White House. Administration officials in 2012 met inside the White House with CAIR officials, according to  Secret Service visitors logs.

In the months leading up to the IRS decision, in fact, the Obama  administration held “hundreds” of closed-door meetings with CAIR — including many in the White House, according to an article in the Daily Caller posted in  early June 2012 — the same month the IRS reversed its decision. The timing certainly is suspicious.

The agency appears to have played favorites by letting Democrat-backed CAIR  raise tax-free donations while denying that privilege to Republican groups  which, unlike CAIR, posed no known national security threat.

Apparently, the IRS thinks it’s fine for taxpayers to subsidize a terrorist  front group that hates America — but not OK for them to help patriot groups.

And for some reason, I’m not shocked at all by CAIR’s favorable treatment.

Move over Columbus. Muslims first discovered America!

ColumbusChristopher Columbus (l); Nihad Awad (r)

With the constant barrage of grim news, we can sure use some comic relief.

Neil Munro reports for The Daily Caller, Jan. 4, 2013, that Nihad Awad, co-founder of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), said Muslims had discovered the Americas long before Columbus sailed the ocean blue in 1492.

CAIR is America’s largest Muslim “civil rights” lobby group, headquartered on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., with regional offices nationwide. In 2009, the FBI called CAIR an unindicted co-conspirator with the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas. Five of CAIR’s former employees have been jailed or deported for terror offenses, and FBI officials refuse to meet Awad because of his ties to jihadi groups, such as Hamas.

Last December 27, Awad told a Saudi TV station in an interview in a New York studio, recorded by the Middle East Media Research Institute: “There are historical accounts according to which the Muslims preceded Columbus, who is said to have discovered the U.S. Some documents and accounts indicate that Muslim seafarers were the first to reach the U.S., [so] the bottom line is that Islam played a part in the establishment and development of the U.S.”

Awad then argued that Muslims can settle in the U.S. without violating Islam’s myriad Sharia rules about religion, diet, speech, friendships, work and political loyalty. But Islam’s Sharia laws curb religious freedom, speech, and political activism, and also subordinate non-Muslims and women to orthodox Muslim men. Sharia is enforced in Saudi Arabia, Iran, much of Afghanistan and increasingly in Egypt, Turkey, Tunisia and Libya, all of which were recently governed by secular laws.

Awad’s claim is part of a broader campaign by Islamist groups to encourage Muslims to settle in the United States and Europe. From 610 to 632, Islam’s founder, Mohammad, reputedly urged his followers to spread Islam by both conquest and emigration.

The Islamic civilization did enjoy a “Golden Age” beginning in the middle of the 8th century with the ascension of the Abbasid Caliphate and the transfer of the capital from Damascus to Baghdad. Lasting five centuries, Islam’s Golden Age came to an abrupt end when the Mongols invaded and conquered Baghdad in 1258 — 234 years before Christopher Columbus found America.

Muslims “discovered” the Americas first?

Yeah right. [smirk]

On a more ominous note, there may be a method to Awad’s madness.

Fundamentalist Islam sees the world as divided between the part already won for Islam and that which remains to be conquered. They believe that once a land has become part of the dar-al-Islam (House of Islam), it cannot be allowed to revert to infidel rule and Muslims have the irredentist right to reclaim the land for Islam.

Does this mean CAIR, with its cofounder Awad’s ludicrous and wholly without-evidence claim that unnamed Muslims had discovered the Americas before Columbus, is “reclaiming” America for Islam?

Donors to Congressman who wants U.S. schools to be like Muslim madrassas

André Carson (l) with wife and the POS

Remember André Carson, the Congressman who wants U.S. schools to be modeled after madrassas? A madrassa or madrasah is a Muslim school, college, or university that is often part of a mosque.

Steve Peacock reports for WND, July 21, 2012, that according to Federal Election Commission quarterly filings, thanks to large campaign donations, Rep. Andre Carson (D-Ind.) appears well-positioned, at least financially, to fend off Republican challenger Carlos May in November.

After a $206,000 infusion during the most recent period ending June 30, Carson’s total receipts for the 2011-2012 election cycle jumped to $778,000. Even with $531,000 in reported expenditures, Carson still has $490,000 in campaign cash remaining.

So who are the donors to Carson’s political campaign? They include:

U.S. Marshal Kerry Forestal

1. An Obama appointee, Kerry J. Forestal, whom the POS appointed in 2010 to be U.S. Marshal for the Southern District of Indiana. The following are Forestal’s known political donations to Carson:

  • $1,000 to Andre Carson for Congress, on Feb. 4, 2008. Carson defeated Republican John Elrod one month later in a special election to become one of the only two Muslims serving in Congress at the time.
  • $1,000 on June 30, 2009.
  • $1,000 on May 7, 2012.
  • More than financial contributions to Carson, Forestal and two other high ranking sheriff department officials also appeared in full uniform in political ads for Andre Carson. Forestal also hosted a fundraiser on St. Patrick’s Day with Carson.

2. Then-White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel, who donated $2,000 in May 2008.

3. Then-House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), who donated $2,000 in February 2008.

4. The Council of American Islamic Relations California PAC gave Carson $5,000 in August 2008.

5. The Arab American Leadership Council PAC donated $2,000 in October 2008.

6. Other group donors to Andre Carson in 2008 included the NEA (National Endowment for the Arts) Fund for Children and Public Education ($10,000, followed by $4,000 in 2010, and $1,000 in 2011), NARAL Pro-Choice America PAC ($6,000), and Moveon.Org PAC ($5,000).

7. Unions, such as American Federation of State County & Municipal Employees People donated $28,000 over the past five years, and the American Federation of Teachers, AFL-CIO Committee on Political Education, which donated $27,500 during that time.

8. Hundreds of thousands of dollars combined have come to Carson from financial and corporate special interests such as the General Dynamics Corporation PAC, General Electric Company PAC, Duke Energy Corporation PAC, Bank of America Corporation Federal PAC, and dozens of others.

DoD Caves In to CAIR

Via  blogs.orlandosentinel.com:

The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) announced today that the Department of Defense will begin allowing Muslim and Sikh students who wear an Islamic head scarf (hijab) or a turban to participate in the Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (JROTC).

“We welcome the fact that Muslim and Sikh students nationwide will now be able to participate fully in JROTC leadership activities while maintaining their religious beliefs and practices,” said CAIR National Executive Director Nihad Awad.

In October, the Washington-based Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization wrote to Defense Secretary Leon Panetta after a 14-year-old Muslim student at Ravenwood High School in Brentwood, Tenn., was forced to transfer out of a JROTC class when her commanding officers told her she could not wear hijab while marching in the September homecoming parade.

CAIR requested constitutionally-protected religious accommodations for the girl and for future Muslim JROTC participants.

In a Dec. 19 letter sent to CAIR, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army Larry Stubblefield wrote:

”I have been asked to respond on behalf of the Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta to your October 13, 2011 letter concerning Miss Demin Zawity’s request to wear a religious head covering (hijab) while participating in an Army Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (JROTC) event at Ravenwood High School.

“Based on your concerns, the Army has reviewed its JROTC uniform policy and will develop appropriate procedures to provide Cadets the opportunity to request the wear of religious head dress, such as the turban and hijab. This change will allow Miss Zawity and other students the chance to fully participate in the JROTC program. Additionally, a representative from the U.S. Army Cadet Command will contact Miss Zawity and provide her the opportunity to rejoin the Ravenwood High School JROTC unit.

“The Army prides itself in being a diverse organization, comprised of individuals from many faiths and religions. We appreciate you bringing this matter to our attention.”

The Romans allowed their enemies to live within their borders, too.

It ultimately cost them their empire.

Their enemy was, by the way, the Islamists.

CAIR going after our children

Taxpayer funded children’s museum to hold Muslim program

Examiner: The New York City, taxpayer-funded Children’s Museum of New York is planning a major exhibition titled, “Muslim Worlds” which is scheduled to begin a long-term engagement in 2014.

According to information provided by the controversial Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), Muslim Worlds” will have hands-on exhibits, performances and other events geared toward getting children involved with the thousands of years of cultural heritage that has come from the Muslim world.  Besides hosting individual visitors, the Children’s Museum will extend invitations for school groups including those from public schools.

Although the museum promises to “bring to life the similarities and differences of Muslim cultures,” John Jay College Sociology Professor Mucahit Bilici said that exhibits like this operate on the assumption that Muslim people are separate from American society.

Visitors to the Children’s Museum of Manhattan dance as part of a festival celebrating Muslim culture.”I would say that the major problem with this project is that it treats Muslims as exclusively external people — as foreigners,” he said. “I’m sure that a significant percentage of their audience, like the kids who will visit that exhibition, will be Muslim. I wish that they would be aware of this and that they would frame it in a much more inclusive way.”

Cyrus McGoldrick, the civil rights manager of the New York Council on American Islamic Relations, argues that the exhibit will do good things for the Muslim community. He said a lot of the civil rights violations that he investigates happen to Muslim kids who are mocked by their peers at school.

But many detractors believe this is an example of liberal-left hypocrisy.  Imagine a group of Methodists or Anabaptists holding an exhibition in a government-funded facility? Does anyone believe the politicians and the ACLU would allow such a show to be held in a city-financed facility with audiences being brought in by public school teachers? How long would that last?” asks political strategist and consultant Mike Baker.

“Tolerance is one thing,” says former NYPD Officer Edie Aquina, “but why are we bending over backwards for the sake of political correctness. This group CAIR, for example, has repeatedly attacked the NYPD for trying to protect New Yorkers and Americans from radical Islamic terrorists. Will this Muslim World exhibition feature the role of Islam in the slaughter of 3,000 people on 9-11? Or the hate speech directed at Jews?”

Question: Will this museum show beheadings and stonings of women?

Obama signs bill codifying and expanding existing, but frequently ignored, ban on engaging groups and individuals named unindicted co-conspirators in terror trials.

Kudos to Patrick Poole and Pajamas Media for the article below (highlights added).

by Patrick Poole———————————————————————–

When Barack Obama signed the continuing resolution this past weekend averting another potential government shutdown, it’s doubtful that he was aware that tucked into the bill, which funds several federal agencies through the fiscal year and extends the continuing resolution for the rest of the government until December 16, is a provision that may dramatically impact what Islamic groups and leaders the FBI and other law enforcement agencies can continue to work with.

Under Division B, Title II of the bill, under the Federal Bureau of Investigation-Salaries and Expenses section, is the following provision:

Liaison partnerships

- The conferees support the FBI’s policy prohibiting any formal non-investigative cooperation with unindicted co-conspirators in terrorism cases. The conferees expect the FBI to insist on full compliance with this policy by FBI field offices and to report to the Committees on Appropriations regarding any violation of the policy.

The most obvious group that this will impact is the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), which was named unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation case — the largest terrorism-finance trial in American history. During the trial, FBI Dallas Agent Lara Burns testified that CAIR was a front for the terrorist group Hamas.

Following the trial, which resulted in guilty verdicts on all counts and lengthy prison terms for all five Holy Land executives, the FBI was forced to cut ties with CAIR – a decision that CAIR claimed would hurt local communities and that prompted other Muslim groups, like the Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC), to threaten to stop cooperation with the FBI unless CAIR was reinstated. In a February 2010 letter to members of Congress, Assistant Attorney General Robert Weich forwarded evidence submitted by federal prosecutors in the trial and court testimony concerning CAIR’s ties to the Hamas-controlled Palestine Committee and that committee’s role in supporting Hamas.

Stung by their loss of access to federal law enforcement agencies, some of the Islamic organizations named as unindicted co-conspirators in the case unsuccessfully sued to have their names removed from the list. In a 2009 unsealed decision by federal Judge Jorge Solis, the court found that the government should have submitted the unindicted co-conspirators list under seal, and ordered the list resealed (a hollow victory since the list is readily available), but declined to remove the groups and individuals named.

In fact, in his decision Judge Solis recounted the evidence submitted by the government that justified CAIR’s being named unindicted co-conspirator in the case:

The Government identifies four portions of the record from the first trail that purportedly established that CAIR was a “joint venturer and co-conspirator”: (1) a Government exhibit showing the objective of the Palestine Committee is to support Hamas; (2) a Government exhibit showing CAIR founder Omar Ahmad is part of the Palestine Committee and Mousa Abu Marzook is its head; (3) a Government exhibit listing CAIR as part of the Palestine Committee; and (4) the testimony of Special Agent Lara Burns and accompanying exhibits placing the CAIR founder at the 1993 Philadelphia conference and describing the CAIR founder’s mediation of a dispute between HLF and Ashqar over Hamas fundraising . (Resp. at 12-13.) The Government does not mention any occasion where it used the 801(d)(2)(E) hearsay exception to introduce a statement of CAIR. The four pieces of evidence the government relies on, as discussed below, do create at least a prima facie case as to CAIR’s involvement in a conspiracy to support Hamas. (p. 6-7) (emphasis added)

But it wasn’t just CAIR among the unindicted co-conspirators that Solis focused on, but also the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), which bills itself as the largest Muslim umbrella group in the country, and the North American Islamic Trust (NAIT), which owns the property to more than one-quarter of all mosques in North America. Solis wrote that the government had “produced ample evidence to establish the associations of CAIR, ISNA and NAIT with HLF, the Islamic Association for Palestine (‘IAP’), and with Hamas.” He also wrote: “The Muslim Brotherhood supervised the creation of the ‘Palestine Committee,’ which was put in charge of other organizations, such as HLF, IAP, UASR, and ISNA.” And also: “During the [1993 Philadelphia] conference, Palestine Committee members discussed using ISNA as official cover for their activities.”

What impact this new legislation will have remains to be seen, but it is clearly intended to roll back the Obama administration’s penchant for relying on groups identified by government prosecutors as fronts for designated terrorist organizations as partners for “outreach.”

3 Mainstream US Muslim Groups Support Terror

Why does CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations – an entity that the FBI says is a front for the terrorist group Hamas — continue to have the ear of the Obama administration and of the MSM?

~Eowyn

The Hamas wing of the "Religion of Peace"

Cut Ties To Terror

Investors Business Daily Editorial

November 26,2010

Islamofascism: Now that a federal judge has unsealed evidence showing the three most prominent Muslim groups in America support terror, Washington must cut all ties with them.

U.S. District Judge Jorge Solis has ruled there is “ample evidence” to support the Justice Department’s decision to blacklist the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), the North American Islamic Trust (NAIT) and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) as unindicted co-conspirators in the 2008 Holy Land Foundation terror trial.

He refused requests to strike their names from the list.

At the trial, which ended in guilty verdicts on all 108 counts, FBI agents testified that ISNA, NAIT and CAIR are fronts for the federally designated terrorist group Hamas, which has murdered countless Israelis and at least 17 Americans.

Indianapolis-based ISNA controls most of the Islamic centers and schools in the country through its NAIT subsidiary — a Saudi-funded trust that holds title to radical mosques, including the notorious 9/11 mosque in D.C. CAIR, headquartered within three blocks of the U.S. Capitol, is the nation’s largest Muslim-rights group. The trio for years have maintained they are “moderate” nonprofits that condemn terrorism.

However, “The government has produced ample evidence to establish the associations of CAIR, ISNA and NAIT with Hamas,” Solis said in his 20-page ruling, written in July 2009 and unsealed just last Friday.

Solis noted that investigators have traced “hundreds of thousands of dollars” from ISNA and NAIT bank accounts to Hamas suicide bombers and their families in Gaza and the West Bank. He said CAIR also took part “in a conspiracy to support Hamas.” Phone lists and other documents introduced by the government reveal CAIR and its founding chairman Omar Ahmad have operated as key members of Hamas’ U.S. wing, known as the “Palestine Committee,” according to the ruling.

FBI wiretaps and agent testimony also placed both Ahmad and CAIR’s acting executive director — Nihad Awad — at a secret meeting held last decade with Hamas leaders in Philadelphia. In a hotel room, participants hatched a scheme to disguise payments to Hamas suicide bombers and their families as charity. ISNA also was mentioned at the meeting.

You might ask, so what? Well, the radicals in this country aren’t the fringe; they represent the Muslim establishment.

Outrageously, these dangerous fronts, cloaked as they are in religious garb, still enjoy charitable tax status. The IRS exempts their funding, much of which comes from the Middle East. And they are still free to lobby Congress, Homeland Security and the TSA against airport profiling and other anti-terror measures. Yet none are even registered as lobbyists, let alone foreign agents.

Although the FBI has severed ties with CAIR, other government agencies have not. For instance, CAIR continues to select Muslim guests to speak and pray in Congress. CAIR chief Awad even prayed alongside Anwar Awlaki, now a fugitive al-Qaida cleric.

The FBI, meanwhile, still does outreach with ISNA. And the White House has solicited the group for resumes. Many Muslims tied to ISNA have been hired for sensitive positions within the government.

A handful of senators — including Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y. — have called for a governmentwide ban on these groups, a move that seems long overdue, given the new court evidence. At a minimum, the IRS should revoke their tax-exempt status.

It’s a scandal such enemy collaborators continue to enjoy government entree and recognition in a time of war.
