Calling all independent-minded Americans to a first organizational convention!

Statue of Liberty in tears

America’s two-party system is broken. Some, myself included, believe it is broken beyond tinkering and repair.

Regular readers of this blog, Fellowship of the Minds, already know the Democratic Party is thoroughly corrupt, bearing little if any resemblance to the Democratic Party of John F. Kennedy’s time. It is socialist, all but in name. Today’s Democratic Party is also, simply put, evil. If you still have doubts, I refer you to:

As for the Republican Party, it remains dominated by a duplicitous elite who are not conservative in their beliefs and values and, as such, have no courage of convictions. Having no spine, the GOP leaders crumble, succumb, and at times actively work to aid and abet the Left’s agenda of destroying America and our Constitution. If you still doubt, I refer you to a stunning agreement called the “Consent Decree” that the Republican National Committee made with the Democratic National Committee in 1982, which constrains the GOP from preventing and even contesting voter fraud. See:

The fact of the matter is that in America today, the elites of the Democratic and Republican Parties are a bipartisan ruling class who have far more in common with each other than they have with the American people. (See “America’s Bipartisan Ruling Class vs. the PeopleAngelo,” July 19, 2010.)

I’m fully mindful of how daunting it is for a third party to win elections, given the built-in advantages enjoyed by the Democrats and Republicans in our long-established and deeply-rooted two-party system.

That being said, something must be done about our broken political system. Below is a press release, of an organizational convention for Americans who are thoroughly disenchanted with the two parties and are searching for an alternative. No registration is required, and attendance is free. If my life circumstances permit, I would go.

INDEPENDENT AMERICAN PARTY SPECIAL CONVENTION

LAS VEGAS, NV — Saturday January 18th, 2014 at 9:00 AM, the National Independent American Party will host a special organizational convention at the American Heritage Academy in Las Vegas, NV on behalf of the Alliance of Independent American Parties – a grassroots alliance of many patriot groups and individual voters.

This effort is the culmination of a year’s building ties with leaders of various  political parties and citizens who ae not being properly represented. These national  and state constitutionalist parties include the National Independent American  Party, the (California) American Independent Party, the National American Party, the America First Party, and state leaders of the Oregon Constitution Party.

Additional invitations have been sent to various state Constitution Parties, the National Constitution Party, as well as America’s Party, and state Libertarian
Parties. All citizens and media representatives are invited to attend this convention as either observers or voting delegates in accordance with the approved bylaws of the Alliance of Independent American Parties. No registration is required, and the event is free to attend.

In order to further common goals, the Alliance of Independent American Parties  acts as an alliance, or confederation, of autonomous state and national parties in continuous efforts to overcome the duopoly of the two-party system.

Those interested and/or with more questions should contact Kelly Gneiting at independenceforever@live.com or by phone at 928-309-1776 (leave message if needed).

Why things always get worse no matter who’s in power

Have you wondered why in 2008, both the Democratic and Republican Parties not just failed to vett candidate Barack Obama but signed off on his candidacy?

Have you wondered why no matter which party “controls” Congress, government keeps spending and our national debt keeps ballooning?

In July 2010, Professor wrote an excellent long article explaining why.

In “America’s Ruling Class — And the Perils of Revolution,” Codevilla explains that the real divide in America is not so much between liberals and conservatives as between the bipartisan political ruling “regime class” and the American people. Whereas the majority of Americans are religious (Christians) and patriotic, the bipartisan “regime class” — stripped of their lip-service rhetoric — are irreligious; arrogant and contemptuous of the American people; and love neither America nor the American people.

Codevilla’s article is 16 pages long (read an excerpt of the article here). Happily, someone has condensed his treatise into a simple power graph.

You see, it’s not about the Democrats or the Republicans, the Left or the Right. Politics really is about Up or Down.

When top level people look down, they see only shitheads;

When the bottom level people look up, they see only assholes.

You will never see another Flow Chart that describes politics so clearly.

62% of Americans Flunk US Citizenship Test

We all know what happens to sheep....

In his letter to Edward Carrington, 1787, Thomas Jefferson warned: “If once they [the people] become inattentive to the public affairs, you and I, and Congress, and Assemblies, Judges, and Governors, shall all become wolves.”

In other words, self-government is and can be only as good as the people. If the people choose to be uninformed and, worse still, ignorant of the founding principles and highest law of their country — the Constitution — then democracy is in jeopardy.

That is exactly what Newsweek found: as much as 70% of Americans do not know what the Constitution is; 6% don’t even know when Independence Day falls.

As reported by Racehl Quigley of the UK’s Daily Mail, “How ignorant are Americans? An alarming number of U.S. citizens don’t know basic facts about their own country,” March 21, 2011:

Newsweek recently gave 1,000 Americans the U.S. Citizenship test and found that their knowledge of the history and running of their own country was seriously lacking.

In the U.S. citizenship test, only 38 per cent of Americans passed and some didn’t know answers to basic questions like who is the vice president? Although the majority passed, more than a third – 38 per cent – failed, and some of the basic questions surrounding citizenship were answered incorrectly.

The U.S. citizenship test is administered to all immigrants applying for citizenship. It is comprised of 100 questions across five categories – American government, systems of government, rights and responsibilities, American history and integrated civics.

Newsweek found that there were huge discrepancies in the kinds of civic knowledge Americans collectively possess.

A mark of 60 per cent was needed to pass.

The questions that Americans could not answer went from the more challenging – how many justices are in the Supreme Court? (63 per cent did not know) To the most basic – who is the Vice President of America? (29 per cent did not know)

SAMPLE QUESTIONS

Q. What happened at the Constitutional Convention?

A. The Founding Fathers wrote the Constitution.

Q. Who did the United States fight in World War II?

A. Japan, Germany and Italy.

Q. What did Martin Luther King Jnr do?

A. Fought for civil rights and equality for all Americans.

Q. Circle Independence Day on the map.

A. July 4.

An alarming number of Americans did not know basic information about the Constitution, namely that it was the supreme law of the land, that it was set up at the Constitutional Convention and that the first ten amendments are known as the Bill of Rights.

Newsweek reported that civil ignorance is nothing new. Americans have been misunderstanding checks and balances and misidentifying their senators for as long as they have existed.

And their ignorance is only highlighted by the knowledge of their European peers. In March 2009, the European Journal of Communication asked citizens of Britain, Denmark, Finland and the U.S. to answer questions on international affairs.

Europe came out on top. Around three quarters of British, Finnish and Danish people could, for example, identify the Taliban but just over a half of Americans could, despite the fact they led the charge in Afghanistan.

Many blame it on the complexity of the U.S. political system. Michael Schudson, author of The Good Citizen, said: ‘Nobody is competent to understand it all, which you realize every time you vote. You know you’re going to come up short, and that discourages you from learning more.’

Others blame it on economic inequality in the U.S. as the top 400 households have more money than the bottom 60 per cent combined. NYU socioloist Dalton Conley told Newsweek: ‘It’s like comparing apples and oranges. Unlike Denmark, we have a lot of very poor people without access to good education, and a huge immigrant population that doesn’t even speak English.’

So sociologist Conley blames American people’s know-nothingness on “a lot of very poor people without access to good education, and a huge immigrant population.” Whose fault is that?

Every child in America, rich or poor, native-born or alien, has access to a free education. Why aren’t schools held accountable for graduating students who can’t read and write? Why are our schools teaching students about “Mary has two mothers, and Johnnie has two dads,” instead of the Constitution of the United States? Why do incompetent teachers have lifetime tenure? Which political party is supported by teachers’ union dues? The Democrats!

Who are those who have consistently and persistently ignored the opinions and wishes of the American people by persistently and consistently refusing to do something about the millions of illegal “immigrants” who strain our socioeconomic infrastructure? The bipartisan Political Ruling Class!

Corruption of Alaska’s Senate Election

The election to the Senate in Alaska is still unsettled because some 80,000 write-in ballots and 31,000 absentee ballots, many of which are military votes, are still to be counted. It’s a neck-to-neck race between Republican nominee Joe Miller and sore loser RINO Lisa Murkowski who had lost the GOP primary but insisted on staying in the race as a spoiler write-in candidate.

Now, there is video evidence, aired by FoxNews’ Huckabee, of a federal government contractor at an Alaskan airbase openly urging his employees to write in Murkowski’s name in order to protect funding for their jobs. The contractor even provided cards for the employees to take with them to the polls.

What this government contractor did is against the law. Federal law prohibits electioneering.

Furthermore, the Miller campaign discovered that Demonrat VP Joe Biden is a good friend of ostensibly Republican Lisa Murkowski. In an interview with the Associated Press, Murkowski bragged that Biden had called and congratualted her. In other words, she is not a true Republican, even less a Conservative. Murkowski instead is a member of the bi-partisan self-designated Political Ruling Class who care about their own interests but have only disdain for We, the “little” People.

Elitist spoiler Lisa Murkowski

Murkowski is a reminder of Thomas Jefferson’s warning to us down the ages:

“If once they [the people] become inattentive to the public affairs, you and I, and Congress, and Assemblies, Judges, and Governors, shall all become wolves.” -Thomas Jefferson, letter to Edward Carrington, 1787.

Murkowski has friends in high places in DC and Alaska. Her father, Frank Murkowki, was the state’s Senator for 20 years (1982-2002) and its Governor from 2002 to 2006. Lisa’s tentacles evidently extend into Alaska state government because last Friday, the Division of Elections began validating absentee ballots without notifying the Miller campaign. This directly conflicts with the state’s Election Observers’ Handbook that states the Division of Elections must “notify” the campaign “24 hours in advance of the time of ballot review….”

Not only did the Division of Elections not give a 24-hour advance notice, it never even notified Joe Miller, who learned about this from an Alaska Republican Party official on Friday morning after the validation process had already begun. Given that, there is every reason for Joe Miller to wonder about the integrity of the voting and vote-counting process in Alaska.

Joe Miller is appealing to us to help him ensure a fair vote count in Alaska. Please click here to donate!

Condi Rice Shills For Obama

The bipartisan Political Ruling Class look out for their own, always.

Last Friday, October 15, 2010, former Bush administration secretary of state Condoleezza Rice, a supposed Republican, took time from her book tour to meet one-on-one with Obama in the Oval Office.

Glenn Kessler of the Washington Post reports:

The White House said Obama wanted to discuss a range of foreign policy issues with her.

Later, at an evening appearance at the Aspen Institute, Rice said she and Obama “covered the waterfront.” “Despite the fact there are changes and tussles, there is still a foreign policy community that believes that foreign policy ought to be bipartisan,” she said. “It was really great that he reached out in that way.”

Rice rolled her eyes at the notion that Obama is a closet Muslim, and she defended him from criticism – led by former vice president Richard B. Cheney – that Obama had weakened the country. “Nothing in this president’s methods suggests this president is other than a defender of America’s interests,” Rice told an audience that included presidential adviser Valerie Jarrett.

[...] Speaking to Fox News’s Bill O’Reilly, she lavished praise on her successor, Hillary Rodham Clinton: “I think she is doing a lot of the right things. . . . She is very tough. . . . I think she has done a fine job, I really do.”

Rice even chastised former House speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.) for his assertion that Obama has a “Kenyan, anticolonial” worldview. “That’s over the top, and I don’t think very helpful,” she told Andrea Mitchell on MSNBC.

Obama’s reckless spending is bankrupting America, piling on our national debt in trillions of dollars. As of October 10, 2010, the “Total Public Debt Outstanding” was $13.616 trillion, which is 94% of America’s annual GDP (gross domestic product). The debt is projected to nearly double to $20 trillion by 2015, but is expected to increase to nearly 100% of GDP by 2020 and remain at that level thereafter. [Source: Wikipedia]

But Condi Rice assures us that “Nothing in this president’s methods suggests this president is other than a defender of America’s interests.” Everything’s just okie dokie!

If Rice ever runs for elective office — walk, don’t run, from her as fast as you can! She’s a RINO!
