US Marine Corps commandant openly blasts CIC Obama

Dr. Eowyn:

Retired U.S. military officers and a former secretary of defense have spoken out against Obama, but this is the first time that a still-serving officer is openly critical.

And not just any officer, but the 4-star commandant of United States Marine Corps — a significant indicator of the profound alienation of the military from their commander-in-chief.

Thank you, Gen. Amos, for speaking the truth.

On July 15, 2014, speaking at the Brookings Institute think tank in Washington, DC, the Commandant of the United States Marine Corps, 4-star Gen. James Amos, openly and publicly criticized Commander-In-Chief Barack Hussein Obama.

Reporting for The Fiscal Times, David Francis observes that “It’s highly unusual for a high-ranking soldier, let alone a high-ranking Marine, to publicly question White House and Pentagon policy. Yet that’s exactly what four-star Gen. James Amos, Commandant of the Marine Corps, did yesterday in Washington.”

Speaking at the Brookings Institute, Amos criticized the Obama administration for:

1. Paving the way for the emergence of the Islamic State of Syria and Iraq (ISIS) by completely withdrawing American troops in 2011. Amos said: “I have a hard time believing that had we been there, and worked with the government, and worked with parliament, and worked with the…

Obama’s Pentagon lays off thousands of military officers, incl. active duty

The Obama administration is cutting thousands of officers from the military, citing the demands of sequestration. Those being laid off include a number of officers on active duty, with some receiving pink slips while on the battlefield.

Fox News reports, July 13, 2014, that the Pentagon is laying off thousands of military officers, including those serving or who have recently served in Afghanistan.

On Thursday, July 10, Gen. John Campbell told Congress that 1,100 soldiers, including some currently serving in Afghanistan, would receiving pink slips due to sequestration budget cuts to the Defense Department.

Roughly 2,600 captains and other officers have or will be laid off, with more expected.

Defense Department officials said the reductions are the result of mandatory spending cuts imposed by sequestration and are part of their larger plan to reduce the number of U.S. soldiers from 520,000 to 450,000.

The Army insists the draw-down plan…

UFO blasts Taliban camp in Afghanistan?

UFOIn March 2014, a U.S. Marine in Afghanistan took this video of a mysterious unidentified flying object (UFO) blasting a Taliban camp to smithereens.

The video, allegedly shot sometime in March, was uploaded to YouTube on May 9, 2014, and instantly went viral, collecting 750,000 hits in just a few days.

The video, showing a strange triangular UFO in the sky, reportedly was shot by a soldier standing next to a stationary armored column.

A split-second later, huge explosions erupt as the mysterious UFO hit the purported Taliban camp, sending up plumes of smoke.

After the smoke clears, the cameraman zooms in to shoot a close up view of the triangular-shaped aircraft, which looks unlike any known U.S. military drone.

UFO1KGRA radio shows the video is a hoax, created by blending two separate videos into one:

  1. A video of a purported UFO over Virginia, USA, released on October 10, 2013, which is also a hoax.
  2. A video of an explosion in Afghanistan, without any UFO, taken in October 2007, which has been “mirrored” or flipped, with the armored vehicle now on the right side of the screen, instead of on the left:

Sadly, KGRA’s debunking video has only 2,439 views as of my writing this post, which goes to show human beings not only are gullible, they actually prefer to be bamboozled instead of know the truth.

Americans are sick of U.S. wars – here, there, and everywhere

mad as hell

Poll after recent poll find that the American people are simply sick of it.

We are sick of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan:

  • A USA Today/Pew Poll from January shows that Americans now believe by a 50%-38% margin that war against Iraq was stupid.
  • Support even for the Afghanistan war has collapsed. Only 35% of all Americans support the Afghanistan war, according to a 2011 CNN poll.

We are sick of the never-ending “war on terror”:

We are overwhelmingly opposed to more war in Ukraine, Syria, Iran and elsewhere.

We don’t want the U.S. to go to war for the “heroic rebels” (who really are Muslim jihadists) in Syria:

We oppose the U.S. getting into a war with Russia in Ukraine:

  • A Pew/USA Today poll conducted over the weekend found that Americans  oppose – by a 2-1 margin – any U.S. military aid to Ukraine.
  • A YouGov poll conducted last month found that only 14% of Americans said the U.S. has “any responsibility” to get involved in Ukraine, and only 18% think the U.S. “has any responsibility to protect Ukraine if Russia were to invade.”
  • Huffington Post reports that pluralities of Americans — whether Democrat, Republican, or independent — agree that the U.S. does not have a responsibility to protect Ukraine.

We don’t want the U.S. to go to war against Iran.

We are sick of the “war on drugs.” A new Pew poll found:

  • 63% of Americans think that we should stop mandatory prison terms for drug law violations.
  • 54% are in favor of marijuana legalization.
  • 67% say the government should focus more on providing treatment for people who use drugs like cocaine and heroin, and only 26% think the focus should be more on prosecuting people who use such drugs.

We are sick of the interminable “war on poverty” (which Obama renamed a “war on inequality“) at home — a war, begun half a century ago by Lyndon Johnson in 1964, which we’d obviously lost because there are more “poor” people than ever before:

We are simply sick of being the policeman for the world:

  • A Pew poll from December found a majority of Americans – more than ever before in Pew’s 50-year history of polling this question – think the U.S. “should mind its own business internationally and let other countries get along as best they can on their own.”
  • A new Wall Street Journal/NBC poll shows that Americans in large numbers want the U.S. to reduce its role in world affairs even as a showdown with Russia over Ukraine preoccupies Washington. In a marked change from past decades, nearly half of those surveyed want the U.S. to be less active on the global stage, with fewer than one-fifth calling for more active engagement—an anti-interventionist current that sweeps across party lines.

But the Obama administration and the elites of both ruling parties want all these wars not only to continue but extend to places in which the U.S. currently are not in a war. Every day, they beat their war drums, agitating for a war in Ukraine and in Syria.

All of which mean that the American people are profoundly disaffected with the governing elite. Neither mainstream political party represents the interests of the people, as revealed by polls:

America is unraveling, and the worst is yet to come

my work here is done

The United States of Decline

America unravels at an increasingly dizzying pace.

By Deroy Murdock, a fellow at the Hoover Institution in Stanford University
National Review
Feb. 17, 2014

America is unraveling at a stunning speed and to a staggering degree. This decline is breathtaking, and the prognosis is dim.

For starters, Obama now rules by decree. Reportedly for the 27th time, he has changed the rules of Obamacare singlehandedly, with neither congressional approval nor even ceremonial resolutions to limit his actions. Obama needs no such frivolities.

“That’s the good thing about being president,” Obama joked on February 10. “I can do whatever I want.” In an especially bitter irony, Obama uttered these despicable words while guiding French president François Hollande through Monticello, the home of Thomas Jefferson — a key architect of America’s foundation of limited government.

That very day, Obama decreed that the Obamacare mandate for employers with 50 to 99 workers would be postponed until 2016 (beyond an earlier extension to 2015), well past the November 2014 midterm elections. This eases the pressure on Democrats, whose campaigns would suffer if voters saw their company health plans canceled due to Obamacare’s unnecessary, expensive, mandatory benefits — e.g. maternity coverage for men.

So, by fiat, Obama has postponed the employer mandate. When Senator Ted Cruz (R., Texas) effectively tried to do this through legislation last fall, Democrats virtually lassoed and branded him.

Also by decree last week, Obama decided unilaterally to soften political-asylum rules. Refugees and other immigrants who provide terrorists “limited material support” now can come to America. So what if someone merely clothed and fed Mohamed Atta or Khalid Sheikh Mohammed? After all, garments and meals don’t blow up. Welcome to America, Mustafa!

Meanwhile, the Justice Department is working hard to revoke the asylum of and deport the Romeikes. This evangelical-Christian family was granted refuge in America to escape prosecution for homeschooling their children, which German law forbids.

So, Obama believes, those who are only somewhat helpful to deadly, anti-U.S. terrorists may become Americans, while religiously oppressed homeschoolers who face prison should get the hell out.

The transparent electoral motive that fuels so many of Obama’s executive orders seems unprecedented. The tone is also brand new. Obama’s predecessors have signed executive orders and, more or less, left it at that. But Obama pounds his chest as he does so. As he told Congress at last month’s State of the Union address: “America does not stand still — and neither will I. So wherever and whenever I can take steps without legislation to expand opportunity for more American families, that’s what I’m going to do.”

While appalled Republicans sat on their hands, Democrats stood up and shouted like equatorial, rubber-stamp parliamentarians: “Hooray! We are irrelevant!”

Chilling.

Meanwhile, as the American Enterprise Institute’s Marc Thiessen wrote in the February 10 Washington Post, new Congressional Budget Office figures show that Obamacare will reduce U.S. incomes by $70 billion annually between 2017 and 2024. The CBO also estimated that by 2021, Obamacare’s disincentives to hire and incentives not to work would slash labor hours by the equivalent of 2.3 million jobs.

Rather than dispute these figures, key Democrats embraced them.

“We want people to have the freedom to be a writer, to be a photographer, to make music, to paint,” said House Democratic leader Nancy Pelosi of California. She added that “people would no longer be job-locked by their [health] policies, but have the freedom to follow their passion.”

So, rather than expand economic growth and jobs, Democrats applaud as Americans stop working — to do watercolors, draft poetry, and take naps — while exhausted taxpayers foot the bill.

Clearly unafraid of Obama, Iranian warships for the first time are steaming toward America’s Atlantic maritime borders. Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps navy commander Ali Fadayi said, “The Americans can sense by all means how their warships will be sunk with 5,000 crews and forces in combat against Iran and how they should find its hulk in the depths of the sea.” Tehran last week also aired fantasy videos of drones blasting a U.S. warship and bombing Tel Aviv. This is how Iran behaves while it negotiates with U.S. diplomats over “peaceful” uranium enrichment?

Nearby, embattled Syrians flee the city of Homs while they and their United Nations protectors dodge incoming mortar shells. This sorry spectacle has exposed Obama’s Syrian policy as a miserable flop. So does the fact that Syrian president Bashar Assad has handed over only 4 percent of the chemical weapons that his deal last September with Obama and Vladimir Putin was supposed to neutralize. According to GOP senators John McCain of Arizona and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, Secretary of State John Kerry privately conceded to them that Obama’s approach in Syria has failed.

America liberated Afghanistan from a regime that hosted al-Qaeda, banned kites and recorded music, and built a bridge to the seventh century. And what thanks does the U.S. get? Over American objections, Afghan president Hamid Karzai last week released 65 Taliban warriors from Bagram prison, where they were being held on suspicion of killing American troops, murdering Afghan civilians, deploying roadside bombs, and otherwise perpetrating mayhem. When U.S. officials complained that these killers could return to the fight — as have other Taliban thugs, once freed — Karzai exploded: “If the Afghan judicial authorities decide to release a prisoner, it is of no concern to the U.S. I hope that the U.S. will stop harassing Afghanistan’s procedures and judicial authority, and I hope the U.S. will now begin to respect Afghan sovereignty.”

For these and many other reasons, Democrats are fleeing Obama.

“I don’t care to have him campaign for me,” said Senator Mark Begich (D., Alaska).

A reelection ad for Representative Joe Garcia (D., Fla.) boasts that “he voted to let you keep your existing health plan, and he took the White House to task for the disastrous healthcare website.”

“He [Obama] is hurting the Democratic brand right now,” veteran Democratic campaign strategist Joe Trippi told Fox News Channel’s Megyn Kelly on February 12. “The Obamacare snafus, his approval rating is declining, and his credibility problems all drag the Democratic brand down.”

Rather than resist an increasingly weak — yet ever more assertive — Obama, GOP congressional leaders hand him whatever he wants. Thus, House speaker John Boehner and Senate GOP chief Mitch McConnell of Kentucky pushed through a $1.012 trillion budget with, at best, minuscule and illusory spending cuts. A $956 billion farm bill includes $3 million to promote Christmas trees (who on Earth would buy them without federal assistance?), $100 million for maple-syrup market research, and $170 million for catfish protectionism. Boehner and McConnell sent Obama this gift-wrapped monstrosity, which was $56 billion higher than Obamacare’s original price tag. And in exchange, Obama gave them . . . zippo!

On February 12, Boehner and McConnell helped send Obama a measure to suspend the debt limit until March 15, 2015. (The debt ceiling was not raised from $17.2 trillion to a higher level; it simply was removed. The gas pedal remains in Obama’s Little Red Cor-debt, but the brakes are gone.) This passed the GOP House with Boehner and only 27 Republicans voting yes. The other 194 votes were from Democrats. When McConnell surrendered on cloture, 11 other Republican senators helped Democrats advance their dirty work. The debt ceiling is now a debt sunroof.

And what did Washington’s top two Republicans get for giving Obama 13 months to shop till America drops? Nothing! No repeal of Obamacare’s $47 billion bailout of health insurers. No approval of the Keystone XL Pipeline. No termination of the cure-killing medical-device tax. No votes on these matters, which would have forced Democrats to choose. This could have helped Republican candidates in November.

Steely resolve could stymie the unpopular and untrustworthy Obama. Sadly, Boehner, McConnell, and other GOP leaders are as firm as foil.

Republicans are giving up because they know that winning is impossible when their leaders are determined to lose,” the Senate Conservatives Fund stated. “These leaders have telegraphed weakness to the Democrats and sabotaged conservative efforts so many times that Republicans now have no leverage.” The group concluded: “John Boehner must be replaced as Speaker of the House. . . . Unless we install a new leader who will actually go on offense, Democrats will never fear us and we will never have any leverage.”

Also, Earth’s sole superpower is sagging where it should be No. 1. America has slouched to No. 12 on the 2014 Heritage Foundation/Wall Street Journal Index of Economic Freedom.

“Now considered only a ‘mostly free’ economy, the U.S. has earned the dubious distinction of having recorded one of the longest sustained declines in economic freedom, second only to Argentina, of any country in the [20-year] history of the Index,” the report states. “The U.S. is the only country to have recorded a loss of economic freedom each of the past seven years.”

Regarding graft, America has stayed stable in Transparency International’s Corruption Perceptions Index. Unfortunately, and as recently as 2013, the U.S. has remained Earth’s 19th most honest country.

Thanks, in part, to Team Obama’s surveillance of journalists from Fox News Channel and the Associated Press, America tumbled 13 spots down Reporters Without Borders’ 2014 World Press Freedom Index. The U.S. dropped this year from No. 33 to No. 46. Hence, 45 nations now have freer journalists than does America. RWB calls America “satisfactory” rather than the top-rated “good.” As the report states: “Amid an all-out hunt for leaks and sources, 2013 will also be the year of the Associated Press scandal, which came to light when the Department of Justice acknowledged that it had seized the news agency’s phone records.”

America is a total mess.

The Land of the Free is governed by an out-of-control egomaniac, neither bolstered by managerial competence nor hindered by the legislature’s institutional prerogatives. In the Home of the Brave, half of Congress cheers Obama’s unconstitutional behavior, while the other half grumbles and then meekly carpet-bombs his path with white flags.

The American people have been betrayed — both by Obama and the Democrats, whose lust for control intensifies daily, and by Republican leaders in Washington, whose cowardice and defeatism have turned their guts and spines into tapioca.

America, as Paul Simon sings, is slip-slidin’ away. And the worst part hasn’t happened yet.

Please pray for military dog captured by Taliban

captive dog

See the dog in the pic above?

It’s a British military dog named DaGarwal, the Pashto word for Colonel, working in Afghanistan who’s been captured by the evil Taliban, and we all know what that means, given Muslims’ antipathy toward dogs.

The UK Telegraph reports that last Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, a video was released on a militant Islam website, of long-haired Taliban gunmen showing off various spoils of war, including captured weapons and a canine held by a chain.

The gunmen say the dog was snatched from American troops. However, military sources disputed that account, saying it was a British dog working with the SAS (Special Air Service), part of the UK Special Forces. The dog, a type of Belgian shepherd favored by the military for their endurance, wears the sort of complex shoulder harness used by military dogs so they can be hoisted rapidly in and out of helicopters and difficult terrain.

A Taliban spokesman said the dog was captured during a raid in the Laghman province east of Kabul on December 23, 2013 — a date that coincides with a British operation east of Kabul in which a special forces soldier, Captain Richard Holloway of the Royal Engineers, was killed.

A spokesman for the NATO-led International Security Assistance force in Kabul confirmed that a dog had gone missing during a mission in December. The UK’s Ministry of Defense has declined to comment.

For years the Taliban have railed against “infidel” dogs who have “invaded” Afghanistan. Dogs are used extensively by coalition forces in Afghanistan to sniff out IEDs (Improvised Explosive Devices), weapons or drugs, and for search and rescue. Four years ago, an Australian bomb-sniffing black Labrador named Sabi was lost in Afghanistan and then adopted by a Taliban leader who tried to sell her back. An American special forces soldier eventually retrieved Sabi from an unnamed man in north-eastern Oruzgan.

Please say a prayer for DaGarwal (“Colonel”), that he’ll be safely returned to the SAS.

Obama aids enemy Muslims: $ to Hamas; military contracts to Taliban/al-Qaeda

HamasHamas

On the afternoon of July 26, 2013, President Lucifer took advantage of it being Friday to pull a stunt.

As reported by The Washington Times, citing “national security interests,” Obama waived Congress’ ban on direct funding of the Palestinian Authority (PA), despite the PA’s ties to the terrorist organization Hamas. In so doing, Obama cleared the way for $500 million of U.S. taxpayers’ hard-earned dollars to be sent as “aid” to terrorists.

Now comes news that supporters of the brutal Taliban and the terrorist group al-Qaeda in Afghanistan have been getting U.S. military contracts! As my bud, FOTM’s Steve, would say: Bring me more duct tape ’cause my head is about to explode.

TalibanTaliban

Tony Capaccio reports for Bloomberg, July 29, 2013, that Obama administration officials, specifically the U.S. Army Suspension and Debarment Office (ASDO), are citing “due process rights” as a reason not to cancel the military contracts.

Worse still, according to John Sopko, the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction, ASDO has declined to act in 43 such cases, saying “They may be enemies of the United States but that is not enough to keep them from getting government contracts.”

In a letter accompanying a 236-page quarterly report to Congress, Sopko said:

I am deeply troubled that the U.S. military can pursue, attack, and even kill terrorists and their supporters, but that some in the U.S. government believe we cannot prevent these same people from receiving a government contract. There appears to be a growing gap between the policy objectives of Washington and the reality of achieving them in Afghanistan, especially when the government must hire and oversee contractors to perform its mission.”

al Qaedaal-Qaeda

According to the report, Sopko’s agency “has found it impossible to confirm” the number of contracts awarded in a $32 million program to install barricades, bars or gratings in culverts at about 2,500 Afghan locations to prevent insurgents from placing roadside bombs. The explosives are the biggest killer of U.S. and Afghan troops. In other words –

The military contracts awarded to the Taliban and al-Qaeda include having them undertake installations to prevent the same Taliban and al-Qaeda from placing roadside bombs that kill our troops.

Did you get that?

The U.S. has 60,000 troops in Afghanistan, with plans to reduce the number to 34,000 by next February, although Obama hasn’t decided how many to keep in the country after 2014 to train Afghan forces and engage in anti-terrorist missions.

The Obama administration has requested $10.7 billion in Afghanistan’s “reconstruction” funding for fiscal 2014 to cover projects from improving local government to building roads and schools. But Sopko expressed pessimism that the U.S. can maintain effective oversight of billions of dollars in reconstruction spending as forces are withdrawn:

“Unless the U.S. government improves its contract-oversight policies and practices, far too much will be wasted. [The policy to create an effective Afghan Army, which has 185,287 troops] will remain hollow unless Washington pays equal attention to proper contracting and procurement activities to sustain those forces.”

As of March, 40,315 of the personnel working under Pentagon contracts in Afghanistan, or about 37%, were Afghan locals, according to Sopko’s report.

In another report, Sopko said $47 million that the U.S. Agency for International Development has spent on a program to stabilize Afghanistan before U.S. troop withdrawals, hasn’t dealt with the sources of instability. An audit showed that after 16 months, none of the agency’s essential program objectives have been reached and the money spent has mostly financed workshops and training sessions.

Sopko said: “It’s troubling that after 16 months, this program has not issued its first community grant. Rather, it has spent almost $50 million, about a quarter of the total program budget, on conferences, overhead and workshops.”

Families of Navy SEAL Team 6 to expose Obama regime in deaths of their sons

The Navy SEAL is the elite of our military’s elite corps who have the respect and admiration of even fighter pilots, who themselves are elite Top Guns. SEAL Team 6 is the informal name of the U.S. Naval Special Warfare Development Group (NSWDG), commonly known as DEVGRU — one of America’s four secretive counter-terrorism and Special Mission Units.

It was the Navy SEAL Team 6 who, on May 2, 2011, broke into Osama bin Laden’s secret compound in Abbotabad, Pakistan, and assassinated the Al Qaeda leader.

Three months later, on August 6, 2011, 22 members of Team 6 were killed when their Chinook helicopter was shot down by Taliban “rebels” in Afghanistan.

At the time, the downing of the Chinook helicopter already was met with skepticism (see here and here). Among the skeptics was D.C. investigative reporter Wayne Madsen, a former U.S. Navy officer. According to Madsen, his sources in Navy SEAL Team 2 told him that “many SEALs believe the SEAL Team 6 members were sacrificed for political reasons because they ‘knew too much’ about the Abbotabad raid.”

Almost two years later, we may finally learn the truth about that Chinook “crash.”

On Thursday, May 9, 2013, the families of three members of Navy SEAL Team 6 will convene a press conference to reveal the Obama regime’s culpability in the death of their sons in that fatal helicopter crash in Afghanistan. Here’s an announcement of that press conference from Freedom Watch:

DATE: May 9, 2013

PLACE: National Press Club (Holeman Lounge)
529 14th Street, N.W.
Washington, D.C. 20045

TIME: 10 am – 11 am

(Washington, D.C.). Three families of Navy SEAL Team VI special forces servicemen, along with one family of an Army National Guardsman, will appear at a press conference on May 9, 2013, to disclose never before revealed information about how and why their sons along with 26 others died in a fatal helicopter crash in Afghanistan on August 6, 2011, just a few months after the successful raid on the compound of Osama Bin Laden that resulted in the master terrorist’s death.

Accompanying the families of these dead Navy SEAL Team VI special operations servicemen will be retired military experts verifying their accounts of how and why the government is as much responsible for the deaths of their sons as is the Taliban.

The areas of inquiry at the press conference will include but not be limited to:

  1. How President Obama and Vice President Biden, having disclosed on May 4, 2011, that Navy Seal Team VI carried out the successful raid on Bin Laden’s compound resulting in the master terrorist’s death, put a retaliatory target on the backs of the fallen heroes.
  2. How and why high-level military officials sent these Navy SEAL Team VI heroes into battle without special operations aviation and proper air support.
  3. How and why middle level military brass carries out too many ill-prepared missions to boost their standing with top-level military brass and the Commander-in-Chief in order that they can be promoted.
  4. How the military restricts special operations servicemen and others from engaging in timely return fire when fired upon by the Taliban and other terrorist groups and interests, thus jeopardizing the servicemen’s lives.
  5. How and why the denial of requested pre-assault fire may have contributed to the shoot down of the Navy SEAL Team VI. helicopter and the death of these special operations servicemen.
  6. How Afghani forces accompanying the Navy SEAL Team VI servicemen on the helicopter were not properly vetted and how they possibly disclosed classified information to the Taliban about the mission, resulting in the shoot down of the helicopter.
  7. How military brass, while prohibiting any mention of a Judeo-Christian God, invited a Muslim cleric to the funeral for the fallen Navy SEAL Team VI heroes who disparaged in Arabic the memory of these servicemen by damning them as infidels to Allah. A video of the Muslim cleric’s “prayer” will be shown with a certified translation.

“This press conference takes on special significance given that our government has over the last twelve years since September 11 committed brave American servicemen to wars in Iraq and Afghanistan which, in large part as a result of politics, were poorly conceived of and implemented, resulting in the deaths of thousands and the maiming of tens of thousands of our brave heroes. To make matters even worse, America has effectively lost these wars,” stated Larry Klayman, legal counsel for the families.

Dog greets returning soldier with heartbreaking whimpers

U.S. Air Force captain returns home from Afghanistan, and is greeted by her crying dog. (H/t FOTM’s Joseph)

The worst part of leaving our fur-children is that we can’t tell them how long we’d be gone.

And so they just wait, and wait, and wait….

Tears.

A poem, author unknown, found on Facebook by FOTM’s CSM:

I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying, You found it hard to sleep.
I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
“It’s me, I haven’t left you, I’m well, I’m fine, I’m here.”

I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times, your hands reached down to me.
I was with you at the shops today, Your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.

I was with you at my grave today, You tend it with such care.
I want to re-assure you, that I’m not lying there.
I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said ” it’s me.”

You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know, that I was standing there.
It’s possible for me, to be so near you everyday.
To say to you with certainty, “I never went away.”
You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew…
In the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.

The day is over… I smile and watch you yawning
and say “good-night, God bless, I’ll see you in the morning.”
And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I’ll rush across to greet you and we’ll stand, side by side.
I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.

Be patient, live your journey out…then come home to be with me….

Obama regime purges 5th senior military officer: Cmdr of CENTCOM James Mattis

Last December, in my post, “Obama purges U.S. Command, Part 1,” I wrote:

Within two months after the Benghazi attack, four senior U.S. military officers were purged:

  • Gen. Carter Ham, on October 18.
  • Adm. Charles Gaouette, on October 27.
  • Gen. David Petraeus, on November 9.
  • Gen. John Allen, on November 13.

Ostensibly, Petraeus’ “retirement” and Allen’s suspended promotion are due to both men’s moral conduct. But surely we are not so naive as to think that Petraeus and Allen are the only U.S. military officers who’ve ever committed adultery or written flirtatious email. As for Ham’s “retirement” and Gaouette’s “temporary re-assignment” (reassignment to what?), there is not even a whisper that either man’s morals or personal conduct is at issue.

So what should we make of all this? Is it all just coincidence or something more sinister?

Ann Barnhardt, in her blog of Nov. 13, 2012, didn’t hesitate to call the purges, Obama’s “night of the long knives” — a reference to the last step in Hitler’s quest for total, dictatorial power. On June 30, 1934, the Fuhrer purged the German military of any factions that were in any way autonomous and not 100% loyal to him.

Now add to the above list of four, Marine Corps General James Mattis (above), who has served in the U.S. military for 40 years and is widely revered by rank-and-file Marines for his blunt talk and leadership.

Three weeks after the purge of Gen. Allen came news that four-star Gen. Mattis was told to vacate his office several months earlier than planned, in March 2013, that is, this month. On Dec. 6, 2012, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta announced that Mattis would be replaced by Army Gen. Lloyd Austin, the vice chief of staff for the Army, subject of course to Senate confirmation.

Gen. James Mattis, 62, is only the head of the most important command of the entire U.S. military — that of the United States Central Command (CENTCOM).

Before replacing David Petraeus on August 11, 2010, as Commander of CENTCOM, Mattis previously had commanded United States Joint Forces Command from November 9, 2007 to August 2010; served concurrently as NATO’s Supreme Allied Commander Transformation from November 9, 2007 to September 8, 2009; and commanded I Marine Expeditionary Force, United States Marine Forces Central Command, and 1st Marine Division during the Iraq War.

The United States Central Command (USCENTCOM) is a theater-level Unified Combatant Command of the U.S. Department of Defense, established in 1983. Its area of responsibility includes countries in the Middle East, North Africa, and Central Asia, most notably Afghanistan and Iraq. CENTCOM has been the main American presence in many military operations, including the Persian Gulf War, the War in Afghanistan (2001–present), and the Iraq War. Forces from CENTCOM currently are deployed primarily in Iraq and Afghanistan in combat roles and have bases in Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Pakistan, and central Asia in support roles.

Writing for Foreign Policy on Jan. 18, 2013, self-described “fan of President Obama” Thomas E. Ricks claims that the “word on the national security street is that General James Mattis is being given the bum’s rush out of his job as commander of Central Command” because he rubbed civilian officials the wrong way” on the Obama regime’s policy toward Iran.

Reportedly, “tough-minded realist “Mattis “pushed the civilians … hard on considering the second- and third-order consequences of military action against Iran” with questions such as: What do you do with Iran once the nuclear issue is resolved and it remains a foe? What do you do if Iran then develops conventional capabilities that could make it hazardous for U.S. Navy ships to operate in the Persian Gulf?

But Mattis’ questions and plea for prudence were “not welcomed” by the White House.

Obama-fan Thomas Ricks points out that, in dismissing Gen. Mattis, “The message the Obama Administration is sending, intentionally or not, is that it doesn’t like tough, smart, skeptical generals who speak candidly to their civilian superiors. In fact, that is exactly what it (and every administration) should want. Had we had more back in 2003, we might not have made the colossal mistake of invading Iraq. [...] But I am at the point where I don’t trust his national security team. They strike me as politicized, defensive and narrow. These are people who will not recognize it when they screw up, and will treat as enemies anyone who tells them they are doing that. And that is how things like Vietnam get repeated.”

Ricks also warns that the Obama regime “now have dissed the two Marine generals who are culture heroes in today’s Corps: Mattis and Anthony Zinni. The Marines have long memories.”

Today’s Drudge Report is replete with ominous headlines about Iran:

WAR DRUMS: KERRY WARNS IRAN ON BRINK...
'Challenging moment with great risks'...

Obama 'not bluffing' over military threat...
Netanyahu: 'Red line'...
TOP GENERAL: Nuclear Iran will trigger arms race in Middle East...
Kissinger: Nuke crisis close...
Clock Runs...

Changing the leadership of CENTCOM just as the confrontation with Iran heats up is not just bad timing, but rash and imprudent.
