Move over Columbus. Muslims first discovered America!

With the constant barrage of grim news, we can sure use some comic relief.

Neil Munro reports for The Daily Caller, Jan. 4, 2013, that Nihad Awad, co-founder of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), said Muslims had discovered the Americas long before Columbus sailed the ocean blue in 1492.

CAIR is America’s largest Muslim “civil rights” lobby group, headquartered on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., with regional offices nationwide. In 2009, the FBI called CAIR an unindicted co-conspirator with the Palestinian terrorist group Hamas. Five of CAIR’s former employees have been jailed or deported for terror offenses, and FBI officials refuse to meet Awad because of his ties to jihadi groups, such as Hamas.

Last December 27, Awad told a Saudi TV station in an interview in a New York studio, recorded by the Middle East Media Research Institute: “There are historical accounts according to which the Muslims preceded Columbus, who is said to have discovered the U.S. Some documents and accounts indicate that Muslim seafarers were the first to reach the U.S., [so] the bottom line is that Islam played a part in the establishment and development of the U.S.”

Awad then argued that Muslims can settle in the U.S. without violating Islam’s myriad Sharia rules about religion, diet, speech, friendships, work and political loyalty. But Islam’s Sharia laws curb religious freedom, speech, and political activism, and also subordinate non-Muslims and women to orthodox Muslim men. Sharia is enforced in Saudi Arabia, Iran, much of Afghanistan and increasingly in Egypt, Turkey, Tunisia and Libya, all of which were recently governed by secular laws.

Awad’s claim is part of a broader campaign by Islamist groups to encourage Muslims to settle in the United States and Europe. From 610 to 632, Islam’s founder, Mohammad, reputedly urged his followers to spread Islam by both conquest and emigration.

The Islamic civilization did enjoy a “Golden Age” beginning in the middle of the 8th century with the ascension of the Abbasid Caliphate and the transfer of the capital from Damascus to Baghdad. Lasting five centuries, Islam’s Golden Age came to an abrupt end when the Mongols invaded and conquered Baghdad in 1258 — 234 years before Christopher Columbus found America.

Muslims “discovered” the Americas first?

Yeah right. [smirk]

On a more ominous note, there may be a method to Awad’s madness.

Fundamentalist Islam sees the world as divided between the part already won for Islam and that which remains to be conquered. They believe that once a land has become part of the dar-al-Islam (House of Islam), it cannot be allowed to revert to infidel rule and Muslims have the irredentist right to reclaim the land for Islam.

Does this mean CAIR, with its cofounder Awad’s ludicrous and wholly without-evidence claim that unnamed Muslims had discovered the Americas before Columbus, is “reclaiming” America for Islam?

  1. Hahahahahaha…Nihad is A wad!

  2. Curiously, one of the first demands on the United States to defend itself was to battle jihadists in North Africa called the Barbery Pirates.

  3. First to discover America, the ancestors of the American Indian. lets see what they say about Islamic laws.

  4. It’s a QUESTION of DISCOVERY versus FOUND. Many Nations have found their respective way(s) to the Americas, across the ages–but, each in it’s turn, failed to maintain a viable foot-hold…with the classical exception of Spain.
The evidence for this claim, is nearly as ubiquitous, as it is repressed by the archaeological/historical conspiracy.

    • Are you saying there is evidence for Muslims having first “found” the Americas before Columbus and, furthermore, that the evidence is “ubiquitous”? If so, please point us to that evidence.

If the evidence is “ubiquitous,” how can it also be “repressed by the archaeological/historical conspiracy”?

  5. Thank you Dr. Eowyn for this interesting post. I recently watched the History Channel about who discovered America before Columbus, and there were many theories in this regard, such as the Irish and the Polynesians. I agree that the Muslims have an agenda here; otherwise it would not be important for them to make this claim.

  6. About the only discovery these illiterate 7th Century primitive throwbacks ever made was of the existence of camel-fleas.

  7. I do not have evidence for Muslim culture specifically–and, if I did, I would be tempted to be as ‘discriminating’ as the Archaeological fraternity are, with ‘respect’ to the various evidence they encounter. Any evidence that does not fit their preconceived scheme, is squelched. And the careers of those who refuse to be ‘conformed’, are forfeit.
Whether by accident, or by design, many cultures have found their way to the Americas. One good example, was discovered by yours truly, in northern Costa Rica. I used my Super 8 movie camera, to pan the interior of a cave. Though not visible to the naked eye at the time–when later viewed in California–three Asian elephants, had mysteriously interjected themselves. A bull, a cow, and a calf, bringing up the rear. The two adults had some type of saddle in evidence–minus their tusks. All very artfully executed, with some sharp instrument. These images were so true to life, that one is compelled to the conclusion, that this skilled artist, must have been a Republican, or an ‘Elephant ‘Witness’.
The evidence was tentatively accepted by Dr. Mieghan, Head of the UCLA Anthropology Dept(1975). I have not revisited the cave–which is on a large cattle ranch, near Quebrado Grande(Big Break).
The mainstream Archaeologists, are no different than the Evilutchers–who also shape, and fabricate the evidence to fit their agenda.
On the Framburger finca/farm near Matagalpa, Nicaragua, I was shown several five foot tall, stone statues, which their workers had excavated. They had beards that reached to their waists.(Ancient Siam?)
I am in sole possession of a cave/tomb, in Utah, which contains the very tall mummified remains of a Caucasian King, and Queen. These two/too, would be wafted away, into the over-crowded basement, of the Smithsonian Institute–where they would be forever ‘fondled’ by the elite, and privileged few.
There is tons of evidence for ancient trans-Atlantic, and trans-Pacific cultural inter-action, if one simply wishes to make a cursory investigation into it.

  8. History Channel 2, H2, has a new show on Fridays. It’s called America Unearthed, forensic geologist Scott Wolter is investigating some of the suppressed archeological mysteries in America. He tied the Minoan Civilization to the copper mines in Minnesota in one episode, in another he tied the Mayans to the state of Georgia. I bet my bippie that the Minoans were a wee bit earlier than the muslims.

Wolter is out to turn the archeological establishment on its head… It’s about time and I love it!!!

  9. Gee, I thought early migrants from asia, (i.e., places like Tibet and surrounding areas) were the first to discover this continent and settle into it and kinda become what we know as native americans. Well dang! Guess I better a do me some relearnin’!!!

  10. Grumpy in Arizona

Arabs discovered America?? Yeah, that’s the ticket!!
And once having discovered a land rich in natural resources with plenty of vegetation and clean water…
Well naturally, they just turned around and went back to a land rich in sand and not much else, and didn’t bother to tell anybody about it.
    Sure they did. //sarcasm//.
