Obama’s Lack of Intelligence

Obama Skipping Staggering Amount of Daily Intelligence Meetings

One of the centerpieces of the Democratic case for Barack Obama‘s reelection in Charlotte last week was the President’s record on national security – specifically, his decision to pursue the operation that eventually led to the death of Osama bin Laden.

That impressive achievement, however, may be blunted by the force of revelations by former Bush speechwriter Marc Thiessen in today’s Washington Post. Thiessen writes:

President Obama is touting his foreign policy experience on the campaign trail, but startling new statistics suggest that national security has not necessarily been the personal priority the president makes it out to be. It turns out that more than half the time, the commander in chief does not attend his daily intelligence meeting.

The Government Accountability Institute examined President Obama’s schedule from the day he took office until mid-June 2012, to see how often he attended his Presidential Daily Brief (PDB) — the meeting at which he is briefed on the most critical intelligence threats to the country. During his first 1,225 days in office, Obama attended his PDB just 536 times — or 43.8 percent of the time. During 2011 and the first half of 2012, his attendance became even less frequent — falling to just over 38 percent. By contrast, Obama’s predecessor, George W. Bush almost never missed his daily intelligence meeting.

Thiessen was able to get comment from the White House’s National Security spokesman, Tommy Vietor, who told him,  “The president gets the information he needs from the intelligence community each day.”

Vietor’s reason for believing this is apparently that despite not attending meetings, President Obama reads the briefs on National Security that he receives every day, and simply can’t find time to attend the specific meetings. Thiessen does not find this persuasive:

Yet Vietor also directed me to a Post story written this year in which Obama officials discuss the importance of the intelligence meeting and extol how brilliantly the president runs it. “Obama reads the PDB ahead of time and comes to the morning meeting with questions. Intelligence briefers are there to answer those questions, expand on a point or raise a new issue,” The Post reported. “One regular participant in the roughly 500 Oval Office sessions during Obama’s presidency said the meetings show a president consistently participating in an exploration of foreign policy and intelligence issues.”

Not so consistently, it seems.

Thiessen has been a consistent critic of the Obama administration’s approach to national security and, as such, he is likely to be dismissed by liberals as a hack trying to turn a non-issue into an issue. Their argument might be considered stronger if not for reports that the President spends extraordinary amounts of time each day engaged in what amount to trivialities. For instance, one can imagine an argument that the President ought to spend less time perfecting his skill at bowling, and more time attending these briefings.

Here we are, engaged in war in Afghanistan, Iran is developing nuclear weapons, terrorist organizations are taking over the middle east and this lazy bastard cannot even take time out from campaigning, golfing and every other of his trivial pursuits, to give a damn about our national security.

It’s painfully obvious that Obama just doesn’t care what happens to us as long as he can keep shining that seat in the oval office with his ass.

  1. I don”t trust anything from the Obama administration,,This website contains hundreds of articles that expose him for what he really is. http://commieblaster.com/obamacrimes/index.html
Its worth paying this site a visit and read about the criminal who calls himself Obama…

  2. Maybe he should challenge Ahmedinejad to a bowl-off.

    • Mr Ahmadinnerjacket is in a different class. Mr Obama is not classy at all in fact. So trying to imagine any kind of communication going on between the two of them is hard or well nigh impossible. The whole problem is that Iran doesn’t have nuclear weapons right about now, and the last thing the Iranians want is for some other country to bomb them back into the stone age. We wouldn’t like it and neither would any decent minded person. Nuclear power is not meant to be used for killing people and destroying civilization and wiping out humanity, it is meant for creating safe energy for people in their homes and businesses as it has been for years now, especially in France and Germany, obviously there have been accidents that have, and are causing havoc where people are exposed to contamination, but it should be reasonably simple to spend the right amount of money on keeping these types of power plants running safely, and upgrading them in time for obsolete machinery and equipment and designs to be replaced by newer ones.
We will need nuclear fusion and fission power to help us get to other planets in our Galaxy, and that would be the best use for the NUKE you are mentioning in my humble opinion. Any other use of nuclear power, especially as in weapons of mass destruction is OFF LIMITS.

      • Good heavens. I am really surprised at the harsh tone of your response. The radical agenda of the Islamists is not generally shared by all Muslims, their way of life is backward in our eyes, the women’s dress, and their customs etc, but they are not anger provoking unless some poor woman is getting stoned for some reason or another. I guess the point I was attempting to make, but failed due to omitting it, (pretty good way of not making a point, right?) is that when Putin remarked that aiding and abetting terrorist elements in society leads to them turning on us, they have made this pretty clear in their attacks, especially the World Trade Center horror show. His comments on using the prisoners in Guantanomo out, why not, to let loose on people we don’t think should continue to exist is also far fetched but makes a point that if you make friends with a snake it may bite you because it’s still a snake. So, if all hell is breaking loose and riots that are causing havoc in Egypt, Libya etc including Syria, then that’s partially to do with the fact that the CIA is working with terrorist elements directly or indirectly to pursue US and NATO agendas.
Since you say that Iran is liable to engage in nuclear warfare then so is Israel and so are we and Russia and China. The possibility exists as “nothing is off the table” but what kind of a negotiating table have we come to?
Sovreignty which is at stake is crucial if we are to keep the US and our Constitution constitutional. There is a Resolution, introduced by a Republican, Mr Jones, that states that the power to declare war on behalf of the US lis vested in the Congress, and he has recently written to POTUS reiterating this fact and saying that any other wars we engage in must adhere to this mandate, even though there is a move in congress that wants, it seems, to give the authority over to NATO or anyone who will agree with the current POTUS or the next one if there is a next one soon, will do to make a declaration of war legitimate outside of Congress’s jurisdiction.
The casual manner in which another war in the Middle East is being talked about astonishes me. There are many religions practiced in this world, and even many brands of Christianity, which is the choice of Dr Eowyn of FOTM. We all are coming to the truth following behind the barricade of the Cross of Calvary, led by the Holy Spirit and cleansed by the Blood of the Lamb. I apologize for getting on your last nerve, if that is what I did, and in the meantime hope you can forgive me. Halleluyah anyway.

  3. I can’t wait for November…this disaster of an admin must come to an end.

  4. Obama – intelligence? I don’t think they’re related.

  5. What is he doing during the times that these meetings are being held? Instead of telling us what he isn’t doing, shouldn’t we look more for information of what he is doing? Things like stuff we aren’t allowed to find out about even if it means Eric Holder being held in contempt of Congress. Now that torture and other forms of human degradation is being cleared by the DOJ what does that signal? We got the drones, we got the wiretapping, we got the unlimited detentions, the assassination of US citizens, maybe the intelligence meetings are just a report on the results of all the above atrocities, and we’re told the videos of them are sent to the privacy of the presidents office for him to watch over and over again, so the mind boggles at the way these affairs are set up, and who is behind the agenda.
Is it really just Valerie Jarrett? The only good thing I can think of is, if our foreign policy is as disastrous as it is with him only halfway engaged, think how much worse it would be if he was fully involved. Anyone remember Dr. Strangelove?

  6. It seems to me that Obama, in addition to being a leftist, Communist provocateur, is a plant, someone’s puppet. Remember that “war is a racket,” as Gen. Smedley Butler used to say (He wrote a book by that title), and, it seems to me that he is biding his time, waiting for one to develop.
In the meantime, Obama, to his credit, has resisted Israel’s pressure to mount a pre-emptive strike on Iran, and that’s important. So we have the Hegelian Dialectic at work, while at the same time, Obama is resisting pressure. A lot is going on we are not being told about.
The world is about to change forever, for the worse, very soon, and the powers that be aren’t leaving us any clues as to what to do. So we have to stock up and save and have an exit plan. Something big is coming—we just don’t know precisely what it is.

  7. In his memoir, Dreams From My Father, the POS admitted that while enrolled at Occidental College, he lived a “party” lifestyle of drug and alcohol use. Since he continues to conceal his school and college records, including his grades, there’s no reason for us to think that his party “lifestyle” and just plain laziness are limited to his college years. As late as 1999, when he was a 38-year-old Illinois state senator, the POS did cocaine (and oral sex) with Larry Sinclair.

An attribute of narcissists is laziness. When one is already The One, perfect and superior to everyone else, why bother to work hard? Hard work is so plebeian!

  8. What a sorry POtuS.

  9. Oh wait, did they forget to count the empty chair???

    • Didn’t the NYT just publish an article about Valerie Jarrett in which it was reported that George Soros had called the WH to ask if he could make an appointment to see POTUS, and Ms. Jarrett apparently told him that Captain was busy on other things and couldn’t have the meeting Mr. Soros had asked for. Mr Soros wanted to talk to POTUS about the economy, but Ms. Jarrett was reported to have thought that as they were so sure of Mr Soros and his support for their campaign etc that she should give more attention to other donors who were just coming on board etc. So, perhaps they might be counting their chickens before they’re hatched ?
