America more polarized after 3 years of Obama

He was supposed to be the post-racial President who would bring Americans back together. Instead, he’s “the most polarizing president. Ever.”

Those are not my words.

Those are the words of Chris Cillizza and Aaron Blake, writing in The Washington Post, Jan. 30, 2012:

President Obama ran — and won — in 2008 on the idea of uniting the country. But each of his first three years in office has marked historic highs in political polarization, with Democrats largely approving of him and Republicans deeply disapproving.

For 2011, Obama’s third year in office, an average of 80% of Democrats approved of the job he was doing in Gallup tracking polls, as compared to 12% of Republicans who felt the same way. That’s a 68-point partisan gap, the highest for any president’s third year in office — ever. (The previous high was George W. Bush in 2007, when he had a 59% difference in job approval ratings.)

In 2010, the partisan gap between how Obama was viewed by Democrats versus Republicans stood at 68%; in 2009, it was 65%. Both were the highest marks ever for a president’s second and first years in office, respectively.

What do those numbers tell us? Put simply: that the country is hardening along more and more strict partisan lines.

While it’s easy to look at the numbers cited above and conclude that Obama has failed at his mission of bringing the country together, a deeper dig into the numbers in the Gallup poll suggests that the idea of erasing the partisan gap is simply impossible, as political polarization is rising rapidly.

Out of the ten most partisan years in terms of presidential job approval in Gallup data, seven — yes, seven — have come since 2004. Bush had a run between 2004 and 2007 in which the partisan disparity of his job approval was at 70 points or higher.

Obama’s ratings have been consistently among the most polarized for a president in the last 60 years,” concludes Gallup’s Jeffrey Jones in a memo summing up the results. “That may not be a reflection on Obama himself as much as on the current political environment in the United States, because Obama’s immediate predecessor, Bush, had similarly polarized ratings, particularly in the latter stages of his presidency after the rally in support from the 9/11 terror attacks faded.”

The Obama Deception is a hard-hitting film that completely destroys the myth that Barack Obama is working for the best interests of the American people.

The Obama phenomenon is a hoax carefully crafted by the captains of the New World Order. He is being pushed as savior in an attempt to con the American people into accepting global slavery.

We have reached a critical juncture in the New World Order’s plans. It’s not about Left or Right: it’s about a One World Government. The international banks plan to loot the people of the United States and turn them into slaves on a Global Plantation.

Covered in this film: who Obama works for, what lies he has told, and his real agenda. If you want to know the facts and cut through all the hype, this is the film for you.

Watch the Obama Deception and learn how:

    - Obama is continuing the process of transforming America into something that resembles Nazi Germany, with forced National Service, domestic civilian spies, warrantless wiretaps, the destruction of the Second Amendment, FEMA camps and Martial Law.

    - Obama’s handlers are openly announcing the creation of a new Bank of the World that will dominate every nation on earth through carbon taxes and military force.
International bankers purposefully engineered the worldwide financial meltdown to bankrupt the nations of the planet and bring in World Government.

    - Obama plans to loot the middle class, destroy pensions and federalize the states so that the population is completely dependent on the Central Government.

    - The Elite are using Obama to pacify the public so they can usher in the North American Union by stealth, launch a new Cold War and continue the occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan.

  5. Where did the name Skippy come from? Funny!

  6. Same here, Terry. :(

I also said “adios” to an acquaintance of 2 years, a friend of 30 years, and several members of my bio family. Obama is a mirror that reflects the true nature of his supporters’ intelligence, character, and soul.

The article seem to paint Bush(43) as even worse, and perhaps even the root cause of the continuing disparity. Yet all I see are all sorts of complaints about Obama here. All of YOU are why the gap stays high and even grows… Before you kvetch about polarization in “Amerika,” try assessing your own role in it.

Obama tried. In the first part of his term, he had the supermajority he needed to ram through anything he wanted. He didn’t use it. He offered several concessions on health care even before debate began, to try and win some bipartisan support. The same went on other key issues. He got spit on by the GOP for his efforts, who took advantage of his willingness to negotiate and put up every roadblock they could muster.

The blame for today’s divide rests mostly with the far right. Their track record speaks for itself.
