This morning’s news is that Al Armendariz, the Obama administration’s top EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) official in America’s oil-rich South and Southwest regions, resigned in a letter to his superior on Sunday. Armendariz had come under increasing scrutiny for his 2010 remarks that the EPA should “crucify” oil companies to make examples of them.
Speaking before a local Texas government meeting in 2010, Armendariz described his “philosophy of enforcement”:
“It was kind of like how the Romans used to, you know, conquer villages in the Mediterranean. They’d go in to a little Turkish town somewhere, they’d find the first five guys they saw, and they’d crucify them. And then, you know, that town was really easy to manage for the next few years. You make examples out of people [oil companies] who are in this case not complying with the law … and you hit them as hard as you can.”
Armendariz is not alone in his environmental Nazism.
There’s that charming Oregon college professor, Kari Norgaard, who declared that if you don’t believe in climate change you must be sick, and that skepticism about climate change is as evil as racism.
Norgaard also wrote a letter in which she praised Barack Obama for hiring eugenicist John P. Holdren as his chief science advisor, while also urging Obama to ignore public opinion and disregard democracy in favor of enforcing draconian climate change mandates.
And do you remember this video “No Pressure” — a commercial made by the 10:10 Campaign, exhorting us to reduce our carbon emissions by at least 10% in 2010? In the video, school children and adults who refuse to join 10:10 are blown up into bits, their blood and pieces of flesh spattering those nearby. The video/commercial is not a spoof. The people who put it together were very serious and very demented:
If the video’s been pulled by YouTube, you can see an Eyeblast version of it HERE.
Writing on April 19, 2012, Zwick rails against the climate change “denial machine” and its “disinformation campaign.” Zwick has this proposal for how to deal with all those evil “denialists”:
“Let’s take a page from those Tennessee firemen we heard about a few times last year – the ones who stood idly by as houses burned to the ground because their owners had refused to pay a measly $75 fee.
We can apply this same logic to climate change.
We know who the active denialists are – not the people who buy the lies, mind you, but the people who create the lies. Let’s start keeping track of them now, and when the famines come, let’s make them pay. Let’s let their houses burn… Let’s swap their safe land for submerged islands. Let’s force them to bear the cost of rising food prices.”
Steve Zwick also says that “the evidence” of climate change “is there right now for anyone who does their homework, and it has been for some time.”
Indeed, “the evidence is there” but it’s Zwick who’s not doing his homework.
Despite all the claims about global warming, it turns out global temperatures have remained almost stagnant in the last two decades, having risen by just 0.29 °C in 20 years. This very inconvenient truth was reported by the UK’s Environment Minister Gregory Barker in a recent parliamentary answer to Tory MP Anne Main.
That reality led environmental guru James Lovelock, who had warned that billions would die before the end of this century and only the Arctic would be fit for human habitation, to admit that he may have been “alarmist” [translation: “wrong”] about climate change. He said:
“The problem is we don’t know what the climate is doing. We thought we knew 20 years ago. That led to some alarmist books – mine included – because it looked clear-cut, but it hasn’t happened.”
Someone please notify Al Armendariz, Kari Norgaard, the 10-10 Campaign, and Steve Zwick! A new member just joined the ranks of the evil Denialists!
James Lovelock should be crucified! James Lovelock is sick and a racist! James Lovelock’s house should be burnt down!
H/t beloved GrouchyFogie.
