Sears Is Selling Hardcore Porn

Last August, I wrote a post about the 118-year-old family store,  Sears, Roebuck, & Co., selling soft porn on its website.

Now comes worse news. Yesterday, May 5, 2011, the American Family Association (AFA) sounded the alarm that instead of cleaning up its website, Sears has worsened — it is now offering hard-core pornographic DVDs and music. Examples include such unimaginatively-titled fare as “Lesbian Sistas,” “Hot Mamas Like Young Chicks,” “Hot and Exotic,” and “Snatched -  Curse of the Pink Panties”.

Here’s a link that proves the merchandise Sears is hawking is sexually explicit.

From the e-mail from AFA:

Under the new leadership of Chairman Edward Lampert, Sears is now offering hard-core pornographic DVDs and music. Not just a few x-rated products, but scores of them!

AFA ordered one of the DVDs to see if it really came from Sears. It did! It was mailed to us in a Sears envelope, with a Sears shipping label, from a Sears distribution center. See it here.

Not only does Sears’ website allow children to view its pornographic offerings online, it will sell them to children. During our online check-out process, we were never asked to verify our age…. AFA navigated Sears’ website quickly and easily to access hundreds of explicit products. AFA has tried more than a half-dozen times to reach out to Sears quietly and professionally. Basically, their single response was, “We’re going to keep on selling them!”

How AFA Found the offensive merchandise:

At www.sears.com:
1. Type the word “mature” in the search box at the top right of the webpage.
2. Select “Movies and TV Shows” from the drop down menu next to the search box.
3. Click “Go”

AFA then asks its members and readers to complain to Sears. Well, the campaign worked. Today, the AFA reports that:

When AFA reported Sears was selling pornographic DVDs on its website, Sears initially told AFA supporters that it was untrue.

Finally, Sears called AFA on May 6 after AFA supporters flooded the company with calls and emails. During the call, Sears again vigorously denied they were selling pornography. However, AFA clearly showed Sears the material on their very own website!

When Sears realized they could no longer deny the fact that they were misleading the public, they issued this statement to AFA:

“We sincerely apologize to any customers who were offended. Our agreements with our vendors prohibit content that is pornographic or sexually explicit in nature. We are removing these items that do not meet our guidelines. We regularly review our processes to ensure compliance by our vendors, and we encourage our customers and community to help us flag any items that they believe might violate our guidelines.”

Within the space of a half-hour, Sears removed hundreds of pornographic DVDs from its website. AFA told Sears over a nine month period, that their website was carrying adult DVDs, but they chose to ignore AFA and continued to profit from it. Because you and thousands of others chose to get involved, Sears could no longer defend selling pornography, nor could they continue to deny it! Thank you for taking action and convincing Sears to get out of the pornography business. Together, and with God’s help, we are making a difference.

Good for AFA! When good Americans decide they’ve had enough and they will no longer put up with the corruption of our society, we can still make a difference.

H/t beloved fellow Tina.

  1. Well done, AFA!!

  2. Crap, I may have to go back to buying Husky tools again. :-(

I went back to Craftsman when Husky started pushing a lot of Chinese made crap (I have never seen sockets that rounded off so easily), and I also figured out PDQ their lifetime warranty wasn’t worth, well, crap, either.

We never shop at Sears. Hubby buys his work clothes at Macy’s, and everything else comes from Goodwill. We hate paying ridiculous prices for clothes.

Sears admits they were wrong; finally pulls website materials
AFA told the truth, despite Sears telling customers otherwise

  6. What does the Bible say about pornography?

GOD’S WORD SAYS: “Deaden, therefore, your body members . . . as respects fornication, uncleanness, sexual appetite, hurtful desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.”—Colossians 3:5.

Simply put, Jehovah * God hates pornography. This is not because he is prudish about sex. He created our sexual powers and purposed that marriage mates use them for the sake of pleasing one another, drawing close emotionally, and sharing the wonder of bringing children into the world.—James 1:17.

Why, then, can we assert that Jehovah feels so strongly about pornography? Consider just a few reasons.

    - He knows that pornography can wreck lives.—Ephesians 4:17-19.

    - He loves us and wants to protect us from harm.—Isaiah 48:17, 18.

    - Jehovah wants to safeguard marriages and families.—Matthew 19:4-6.

    - He wants us to be morally clean and to respect the rights of others.—1 Thessalonians 4:3-6.

    - He wants us to respect our procreative powers and use them in an honorable way.—Hebrews 13:4.

    - Jehovah knows that pornography reflects a warped, selfish, satanic view of sex.—Genesis 6:2; Jude 6, 7.

THE BOTTOM LINE: Pornography damages a person’s friendship with God.—Romans 1:24.

  7. Pornography damages marriages and families by

    - Undermining marital trust, intimacy, and love.—Proverbs 2:12-17.
    - Promoting selfishness, emotional aloofness, and dissatisfaction with one’s mate.—Ephesians 5:28, 29.
    - Fueling unhealthy sexual fantasies and cravings.—2 Peter 2:14.
    - Tempting users to force objectionable sex practices on their mate.—Ephesians 5:3, 4.
    - Promoting emotional and physical infidelity.—Matthew 5:28.
