Muslims Are Such Spiritual People!

Muslims across the world are feasting because Ramadan is over.

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and the month of fasting. During Ramadan, Muslims refrain from eating, drinking and sexual relations from dawn until sunset — all for the sake of Allah and to teach Muslims about patience, humility, and spirituality. During the month, Muslims also are suposed to pray more than usual, ask forgiveness for past sins, and try to purify themselves through self-restraint and good deeds.

Alas, the government of the Arabic Islamic country of Algeria in North Africa (the 11th-largest country in the world!) is unclear on the concept. David E. Miller of the Jerusalem Post reports on September 7, 2010:

Police in Algeria have detained ten men for allegedly eating in public in violation of the sanctity of Ramadan.

Police picked up the young men in a restaurant in the province of Bejaya, east of the capital Algiers after neighbors complained of the alleged public desecration of the Islamic faith’s ban on eating during daylight in the holy month.

The young men face up to two years in prison for the “crime” if convicted.

Way to go, Algeria! That’s the spirit of Ramadan! Indeed, Islam is the Religion of Peace!

  1. Love the muslim “religious freedom”… conform or else, they’re not content to let blasphemers go to Hell on their own. Left/liberals won’t feel content and “liberated” (from the onerous burden of personal resposibility) until they’re dhimmis being ruled like serfs under such as system.

    • P.S. “Islam isn’t in America to be equal to any other faith, but to be dominant. The Koran should be the highest authority in America, and Islam the only accepted religion on earth.” —Omar Ahmed, Chairman, Council on American-Islamic Relations, 2006.

  2. From what I understand, restaurants are open for “ex patriots” (foreigners) and the windows are covered. Many foreigners will refrain from eating during the day out of respect for Ramadan. Jeez, if they are serious about complying, why not just open the restaurant after sunset? Seems to me they are tempting folks by being open when eating is forbidden…and how healthy is that for the body anyway? To starve all day seems crazy to me.

  3. I was in Kuwait 2005 and was reprimanded by my superiors who said a kuwaiti complained that I was chewing gum during ramadan. Made me want to kick some ass. I was also there during their independence day celebration. They celebrate their independence from Sadam. The US was never mentioned. Muslims are a disgusting lot! They should not be in our country. Period!
